    History ​
    The Monte Carlo circuit was founded by Antony Noghes, who also helped to establish the Monte Carlo Rally, with the final corner of the grand prix track named in his honour.

    The first Monaco Grand Prix took place in 1929 and was won by British driver William Grover-Williams in a Bugatti. The 100-lap race took almost four hours to complete.

    The circuit hosted the second ever Formula One race in 1950, when Juan Manuel Fangio completed a clean sweep of pole position, fastest lap and race victory.

    Monaco was then absent from the calendar until 1955 but has remained on the F1 schedule ever since, with only Monza, the venue of the Italian Grand Prix, hosting more races than Monte Carlo.
    The 2014 race will be the 61st running of the event

    Sorry but looks like I'm doomed not to take part in this race either. My internet connection is running at a super fast 0.4 mbps. I know its insane speed. Think it's now way too fast ofr everyone else to keep up with ;). I got kicked off the server twice. I've restarted the router a few times but to no good. Hopefully it will come back there's still a few hours before race time. If I'm not around have a good race and hopefully see you for round 3 :(

    Pole. Job done :)

    Race
    Disappointed with the turn out. Only 4 of us on a Friday night. Why is SRO struggling to get people? This is a superb mod albeit not quite polished off yet but it's only an early version of the mod. It's excellent and great fun to drive.

    Got off the line well and had a good lead by hallway round the lap. So I decided that I'd stop off on my yacht. Hit the entry to the chicane and then nose dived into the exit. This span me high in the air and over the hail bails into the harbour. Thought the race was over and nearly hit the escape key but I found myself back in the area where you start from in practice. I had to drive it on 3 wheels to the pit lane and there spent 300 seconds getting it all fixed and polished up. This put me about 4 laps down so no chance of picking up anymore places but that doesn't mean I couldn't have some fun. I managed to overtake everyone to get 1 lap back but that was about it. I managed a 1:39.4 for the fastest lap. What could have been?

    One thing I will say and this is just my opinion. The policy of throwing people out for not turning up may be putting people off from doing further rounds especially if they've lost all of their points. It also sends a message that SRO doesn't want you to race here. It's a fair thing to do when there's red lit people as the no shows are preventing others from racing but when only a few have signed up it seems a bit draconian. Just my opinion take it or leave.

    The reason for removing "no shows" from a series is:

    because I feel that the members who are "serious" about a series, have a right to know how many drivers will actually show up. Having 20 people signing up for a series and only 11 showing up is nonsense to me. You've been there Paul, where you've said ... "where the hell is everybody?!" If members don't bother to unregister to keep a signup list accurate for the "active" drivers, then they are not interested in the series and we can't count on them to support the series. Everybody is very welcome to race, even only 1 or 2 events from the series, but if a member doesn't care, then I don't care to remove him.
    I care about the members that do show up (or take the trouble of un-registering if they can't make it) ;).

    OK I see the point but I just hope it's not putting people off returning to a series in later rounds especially if they've lost their points from earlier. But they do have the option of unregister ing for an event which is a good habit to promote.
