    Welcome to round 5 Mosport

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport Park and Mosport International Raceway) is a multi-track motorsport venue located north of Bowmanville, in Ontario, Canada. The facility features a 2.459-mile (3.957 km), (length reduced through wider track re-surfacing done in 2003) 10-turn road course; a 2.9 km advance driver and race driver training facility with a quarter-mile skid pad (Driver Development Centre) and a 1.5 km kart track (Mosport Kartways).

The track was designed and built in the late 1950s. The first race to be held on the track was a local event organized by the Oakville Light Car Club in June 1961. Shortly thereafter, on June 35, the venue held its first major race, the Player's 200, a sports car race bringing drivers from the world over to rural Ontario. Stirling Moss won the two-heat event in a Lotus 19. Second was Joakim Bonnier with Olivier Gendebien third. The proposed hairpin was expanded into two discrete corners, to be of greater challenge to the drivers and more interesting for the spectators, at his suggestion, and is named Moss Corner in his honour. This is a source of lingering confusion as many people call the track Mossport. Unlike many historic motorsport venues, Mosport's track layout has remained mostly unchanged from its original form.

Well that was a fun race at a track where I usually fail dismally :). I had a most enjoyable dice with Paul and eventually managed to open up a gap until I lost concentration about 10 minutes from the end and ran off the track losing about 5 seconds. Luckily the gap was big enough so that although Paul closed to within 4 or 5 seconds I was able to maintain P5 until the chequered flag .
Congrats to Jukka, Tim and Laurent for another podium result and kudos to Mikko, Maxime, Doni and John for providing lots of entertainment during Caitlin's superb broadcast :).

Yes, broadcast was great ! Thank you for that. A friend of mine who's not involved in cars and racing at all was able to follow the race, that was a very nice time. :D

Congrats to podium ofc, and to all finishers and thank you all for racing.

About the event itself, first of all I would like to say a big sorry to Tim I obstructed while he was in his 1st qualif lap down the hill (I don't know the place name). It ended with us contacting while I wanted to let the driver pass in the best conditions available.. But this car is so zigzaging and that track very tough to let a fast car pass in top conditions. At the time I didn't know it was you, because I hadn't set the labels on. And once in the pits, I didn't say sorry because I didn't want to chat and potentially disturb other drivers. But sorry mate. I decided to auto-blame me by not restarting from the pit to set any laptime, I hope it's about complying with the rules.

I only tested the combo very late and the 3/4 hour time to find a setting and learn the track (yes I know, shame on me not to master this great track yet) so that my setting was just a bulls**** ! At the time it allowed me to set a 1'22''8 so wasn't that terrible but in race it was a pure nightmare, rear tyres were dead at mid race I'd say even if it didn't show in the tool. I don't get why by the way.
I really wasn't on rails for that event, was very late due to friends obligations in addition of my crap setting and track learning.

Still, once in race, we got some very nice battles with Mikko, John and possibly someone else. I hope I didn't disturb anyone too much as I was dancing and flying above eggs everywhere, only making some touch and go from time to time... o_O:p

First off i want to thank Caitlin for the commentary and streams, good stuff, you are better at it than some i've seen on TV.
Hats off to the top tier drivers, your pace and consistency is amazing.
We had some good racing between me, Maxime and Doni at the back end of the grid, so much fun, and John VdG passed us at some point too.
    Thanks everyone. :)

Race went as expected , out of practice and severely punished for catching the edge of the grass.
Had a 1.24/5 pace that wasnt good enough but I completed the race, stopping in pits for repairs along the way. Car setup wise was ok but checking live timings with mine I am just not carrying enough speed into corners. Was lapped 6 times although a couple of spins left me in a dangerous spot where I waited for the whole field to pass before rejoining.
Determined and did finish the race just hope I wasnt in anyones way,
Will be on for next round :)
Watched the commentary and it was excellent as usual, Thanks

    Qualification
Had a decent run and matched my PB for 6th :)

    Race
Started well and grabbed 5th. Had an early fight with Louis but ran wide through T2 and Louis got through. Got back into 5th when Louis went off. Thought he may come back but noticed on the race coverage video he touched the wall and got damage. 5th wasn't safe though and next I was attacked by Bill. Managed to hold him off a couple of times down the straight but eventually he got by. I got into his slipstream going down the straight went to overtake on the outside and dipped my wheels of the circuit. This meant I went straight on at the end of the straight and was saved by the enormous runoff area. Really thought I was on my way to the wall. Certainly would have been a big crash back in the day. I was now 5 or 6 sseonds behind Bill and he was lapping faster than me so it was a lonely run to the chequered flag.

Caitlin's commentary was very good as usual but had to chuckle when she said everyone was exploring different lines into corners. For me I simply went where the car took me. I think this has to be one of the world's first self driving cars because for me I'm a passenger for most of the time just along for the ride with my eyes tightly shut waiting for the inevitable metal crunching, bone shattering hit with a wall ;)

Well done to Jukka for the win :)

Well done Jukka. I struggled there, and can only blame myself - I made some tire pressure changes in practice that really helped the consistency of my car. But for some reason didn't save them when I switched over to the qualifying setup.
As a result 3 of the tires were slightly over pressure from lap 3 onwards, I could only maintain a good speed through being ultra careful how I drove the car.
Obviously as soon as I got close to Jukka and started looking for opportunities that all fell apart and the tires would cook :(

I'll have to ensure that I do a better job on the setup next time out - and that Jukka devolopes some proper gremlins to slow him down a lot! :p Otherwise it's well done on another championship!
Well done to Laurent for the final podium spot and to all who finished.

Thanks to Caitlin for the commentary - I really enjoyed the scrap between Maxime, Mikko and Doni. As well as the extra chaos when John caught them and had to fight on through
