Another polar bear here, 53 year old grey haired Dane from Daneland. Been driving on PC's since the Geoff Crammond GP 2 days on and off (mostly off). Back in 2008 I bought my first wheel - a 50£ Logitech for use with Racedriver: GRID. Loved having a wheel. Upgraded about a year later to a Thrustmaster 430 FFB but drove less and less. Partly due to the hassle of having to setup the wheel, blocking PC use for any other purpose while mounted and a steering deadzone that I never got comfortable with on the 430. Tried getting back in with F1 games and PC 1 and 2 but they never caught on. Then Assetto Corsa Competizione got early access and I liked the focus of that sim. Tried it a few times during early access and almost immediately knew that this sim could, in time, end up giving me the driving experience I wanted. Once version 1 was released, I quickly fell down the sim racing rig rabbit hole. First a TS-XW, then Fanatec CSL LC pedals, then the TM Open Wheel addon and a TrackIR. After much deliberation about where I could make the space, a TrakRacer TR8 rig with a 49" Samsung using custom monitor mount for a hospital grade monitor arm that can hold that beast of a monitor. Buttkicker, quick release mods for the rims, IR LED emitter for TrackIr - does this ever stop? I need help. Was looking at Accuforce V2 DD base yesterday.... Anyways - enough of me bragging about hardware. I'm here to get humbled by some proper drivers and hopefully get better at driving. I have improved to the point that I can drive so-so and race without causing too much havoc so I think I'm ready for some online races. Looking forward to joining the community.
Welcome Tim. As I understand it, you've got some proper hardware . That's just the way things go when you love your hobby. We've got 2 series starting in January you might like. 1 for ACC and 1 rF2 F1 1991, so you should be oke. See you on track.
Signed up for the ACC series. Now to practise Silverstone religiously! I have had so much fun learning to drive in ACC. Still not comfortable with car setups but all good things...
