Hi there. I'm worried that the engine won't last the race. The most I've got it to do at this track is 25 minutes, and I can't give the car any more grille.

I don't recall any issues at Castle combe, but what you have experienced may possibly be influenced by the track length and layout at Poznan. I've looked at the mod engine file and it doesn't indicate it is particularly fragile. The max revs to use for maximum engine life are 7600rpm but if you regularly exceed that by 250rpm the engine life is halved. Possibly that may be an issue Caitlin?
The max Oil temp is 110deg and optimum is 100deg for maximum engine life.

I'll check it out to see if I get the same issues as you.

Interestingly after letting the AI drive for several laps, it was clear that it was busting the ideal 7600rpm max limit several times a lap and MoTeC showed it going as high as 8400rpm. When I drove using 7400rpm as a maximum, I also saw the oil temp rise to 118c which according to the engine file is much too high, but there is no radiator adjustment on this car.

Catlin what makes you suspect the engine won't last? Are you using some kind of plugin which is giving you worrying data?

No, it's just that for some reason every time I go out on track the engine starts smoking within 10 minutes and then blows up a few minutes later. I don't even think it's a case of taking more mechanical sympathy, because I wasn't revving it excessively or anything like that.

That's very strange as I drove quite a few laps myself and didn't have any obvious engine issues, The only other thought I had was, are you being too aggressive on downshifts? If you are downshifting too soon at too high rpm this is a recipe for rF2 disaster and always has been?

    Question. What going on here?

I get this in rfactor 2

    Missing virtual cmp Poznan v1.10

I've installed this in my packages folder

FIXED. Found out if you turn off your computer, punch a pillow a few times and then return to your computer and go through all the steps again, you tend to resolve the complications you had. o_O:D

Other than not having a high enough IQ, I was just seeing in rFactor 2 Content/Packages, the BMW 2002 had a red X next to it. I could have sworn I had installed everything. What you want to do is scroll down with your mouse and bam, theirs the track file to install. :D Hey where are my glasses. 3 minutes later. Their on your face you numskull!

Possibly, but I swear I was driving the same way in Castle Combe. I'll do some more testing before the event.

Did some laps on the server today and ragged the engine to 8500rpm "redline" and the engine blew. Suggest keeping the rpm down closer to the 7600rpm engine file value.

Good racing all. You heard it at the race. Caitlin wanted me to destroy my tires. All that money I slipped her under the table has gone to waist! Just kidding. But I had fun. Caitlin had the lead but seen Ken caught up and was right behind me. I didn't want to pass as I wanted to save fuel but when I seen Ken bringing his posse with him, I was like, ohh no so I went for the pass down the straight. Fun race

Edit: I was also short shifting it as I didn't want to pop the engine. I think that was the scariest part, not destroying the engine.

    Cheers!,

    Johnny

You two were so slow in those opening laps I couldn't believe it o_O Because of that I was trying to hold station but not allow the snapping dogs at my heel any chance of making a move. It was a shame I got hit from behind at the final turn, which put me to the back, but at least I was able to unexpectedly recover back to 3rd.

I was going so slowly because I was really worried about the engine and tyres! If you watch back the replay you'll hear me shortshifting like crazy. I knew that Johnny was quicker than me in the race (I'd set my fast quali lap by abusing the gearbox and engine) so I let him go, but I probably shouldn't have done because without my unscheduled second pit stop I probably would have jumped him just like at Castle Combe. Ultimately I'm disappointed. I made an awful mistake yesterday.

It was more about how surprised I was that you were both so much slower than me in the first couple of laps. Normally I would be eating your dust :)
