Welcome to Bikernikie High Speed Ring

    History
In 1962, the design of the track was started. Eduardu Kiopi was appointed director of the sports complex, and the project manager was Gunars Binde. A group of specialists were also invited: Peter Dzenis, Janis Roops, Karlis Rība and Vilnis Vasulis. During the first phase of the project, it was planned to create two circles which initially were to be used for motorcycle racing and kart racing.

In January 1966 the construction of the began. The first difficulties appeared as there were swamps and underground springs at the start line for the karts, so in places, constructors had to dig up to seven metres deep and fill it with several tens of thousands of cubic metres of sand. Because of the difficulty of building the track, many local volunteers were involved in the project. In July of the same year, the first races were held there, with motorcycle races in six different classes taking place.

Fifty years later, a Rallycross circuit was created after Latvia won a contract to host a round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. This circuit also hosts rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship and the FIA NEZ Rallycross Championship.

It shouldn't be a problem, but I'd just like to remind everyone that the closing speeds at the end of the straight can vary massively between cars. T1 on my best lap with the A110 so far is 20km/h slower than it was for the fastest lap time on the server (set with a 911), for example, and I can't see myself gaining anything at that turn.

The cars are so different indeed.. I don't know what the racing will look like. Some will blast past you on straights, others overtake on hard braking zones, some can drive around other cars in some corners I think.. a bit crazy.

a lot of fun while it lasted, had some excellent battles with a variety of cars including a mammoth fight with that beast of a Merc !
had Rift troubles before the race and lost my pre-qually warm up so only qualified 9th about 1 sec off my pb. That proved painful as i got stuck in a tough fight from the off with a gaggle of cars. Someone t-boned me a few laps in, putting me off track with a heavy impact, while i was about 5th i think and i dropped to something like 17th
But had great fun fighting my way back up the field to 11th i think behind that damn Merc that i just couldnt find a way past its swinging lard-ass or its pure grunt down the straights! Then on the half hour mark i stupidly glanced in my mirrors at the bmw hot on my tail and clipped the wall on T1 entry, broke my suspension and heavy damage. :( Limped around to the pits but they just changed tyres and wouldnt fix it. Was un-driveable so had to retire. :( Shame as i was really enjoying that and on for a top 10 finish despite the nerf off. Cars look and sound great

Spun at T1 on the last lap and the car decided to do what it kept doing in practise - locked the front right wheel seemingly for no reason and wouldn't unlock it. It does it whenever you turn the wheel to full lock in either direction while stationary - thought it wouldn't be a problem in the race but I guess I countersteered more than I thought...

    POOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I went through all of that driving the most hateful and unpredictable car I've ever driven and I conk out 5 metres from the line. May be my one and only appearance in this series as I feking hate this car. Very nearly changed it for the BMW yesterday, Why didn't I. Damn it!!!!

Well done to the winner. Blah Blah Blah

Can you judge my mood ;)

@Paul Anstey yes i can. i didnt have no tests and wanted to test sometin else than porsche but time got short and dloaded mod today. was thinking of bmw or escort aswell as those where really good on rf historix where i seem to compare.
anyhow took the porsche then as its my most familiar car and allways love it. this one had little less in setup as i hoped to. only arbs so not much :D
Q i got little short, felt there is half a second somewhere, which i got in race so with more preparation, prolly more.
R 1st stint was hard, was looking for lines and brakes and allsorts and few times close to losing it.
2nd stint i was comfortable in the car and i guess that showed. Porsche flowed through the track and took me to the flag 1st.
    very clean driving by everyone.
and on a sidenote... @Laurent Londes anyone else tailing me, i would have been nervous and possibly done a mistake. you are such a classy guy on track and had the pace to win too, that made me relax, since i knew there is not going to be any hits from behind. maybe next time just doit! ;D

    cheers

I loved that race ... intense battles with several drivers including Zac, Kimi, Paul, Kai, Stefan and Michal (great final corner Michal :)). Hard luck Paul, I hope you have better luck at the next round. Immediately after the race I watched Caitlin's broadcast ... excellent as usual. Thanks for putting this series together, John ... roll on round 2.

Being a classy guy on track is not playing in my favor it seems  But Toni, why did you pick the Porsche  Well, you explained why but still.. I wanted to race the cooper first :) The part where I got sideways and lost traction losing the position back from you was probably key here. And then you exited the pits right in front of me  And yes, maybe I will do it next time, just because you picked the Porsche :D

Happy to see John with that much pace as well! As for backmarkers, Claus please be aware of what's happening, you completely pushed me off track there.

    Anyway, good race all!
