CIRCUIT OVERVIEW


Home to the Australian Formula One Grand Prix since 1996 and with a history of racing prior to that, Melbourne's Albert Park Circuit is a popular venue among fans and competitors, with its parkland course blending the best aspects of a true road course and a street circuit.

Making use of public roads for the majority of its length, save for a small section which runs through what is usually a parking area, the track is kitted out for motorsport once a year. Trackside fencing, pedestrian overpasses, grandstands, and the remaining infrastructure is put up around two months before the Grand Prix weekend and removed within 6 weeks after the event.

Overtaking has generally remained at a premium over the years, so major layout changes were made to the circuit ahead of the 2021 season, though the cancellation of the event due to the coronavirus pandemic has meant these are now set to debut in 2022.

The 2022 track version is closest to what the V8 will race in 2024, so I think it's best to use that since it's a 2024 series.

 

TEST RACE ALBERT PARK

After the difficulties of logging on to the server in round 1 Phillip Island, I would like to do a test race so we can test stuff.
I would like all to be there but especially everyone with costume skins to test server access. If need be, we can go back and forth to this forum to discuss problems and go back to the server.

Test race will be on MONDAY JANUARY 22 at 20:00 GMT.
Qual: 10 min
Race: 15 min.

This test is mostly for guys with custom skins to see if they load oke in combo with other drivers.
Other drivers with no costume skin can also test their race start skills

 

Good thing I did a test race. Made some boner mistakes that I should learn from.
Everybody better do a long run to see what your tires will do when the degradation kicks in, for cornering, braking distance and most of all ... acceleration out of slow corners with an angel on your steering wheel.

I have no issues to report from this test race in terms of costume skins. All was okay.

Drivers briefing

1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcasted

2. Albert Park 2022 Conditions
1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel and Tires are set to normal.
3) Cut Track points are set to 6
4) 100% damage
5) This event has a Formation lap with a standing start
- Tires: Don't forget to select "Hard/Supersoft" at the car selection customisation, our you will qual on hard tires.

3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

4. You can find the password for the race server on the Albert Park 2022 event page.

5. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

6. Please use the same name in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

7. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.
Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

8. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

FORMATION LAP
At the end of the formation lap, please make sure you are lined up properly:
At the end of the formation lap, find your starting position (the red square)
Move up slowly to the RED ARROW until it disappears and brake.

 

Tire choice is free. You can pick whichever you want.
