Le Mans Ultimate release 20th February

VR is apparently one of the features omitted from what will be released on Feb 20th.
I really hope it's implemented asap as VR is pretty well my only option at the moment.

 

Nope. You can turn down the brightness but it does weird things to the colours. I can sometimes get a little eyestrain if the game isn't displaying or running well though. Too many "jaggies".

It never feels like you are staring into a lightsource. It does get a little sweaty in there though

I don't feel any discomfort, even if using the headset for 4 (or more) hours at a time.
I don't recall ever reading that the closeness of the lenses was an issue.
From what I remember, 'motion sickness' is usually cited as the main cause of discomfort. I did experience, what I guess was motion sickness, once or twice at the beginning. It was very mild, only lasted for a moment and only happened at circuits with noticeable elevation changes - like Portimao or Toad Circuit. It can be a big factor for some people though - luck of the draw I guess.
If you do get a headset, just acclimatise by starting with short sessions to begin with.
Sim racing is the perfect scenario for VR - it really is a game changer. The immersion is literally stunning - you're no longer looking at a small flat screen but are instead 'inside' a life-size car, looking at other life-size cars, buildings and trees . . as you smash head first into a life-size wall Everything is bigger . . . including the fear factor
One possible downside - it might make you slower Some people do argue that VR hinders their lap times (and I know for a fact that without VR I'd be an absolute 'Alien' )

 

I woke up this morning feeling dirty and ashamed of what I did last night. I'd almost convinced myself that it hadn't happened. That it was all a bad dream. But I knew, deep down, in the darkest recesses of my now tainted soul, I knew what I had done.

Receipt for your payment to www.steampowered.com was all I needed to read for the whole horrid affair to come flooding back. £14.99 was all it said. It didn't mention any names. It didn't need to. I'd sold my soul for £14.99 - yes, I admit it, but I'm not proud of it; I'd bought F1 23. Don't judge me. It could have happened to anyone.
Sorry to hijack your thread Ken, but I felt I should warn others of the danger. Don't do it. You know you'll regret it. I might be lost, but there's still time to save yourself. Stay away from Steam until after February 13th. Don't, I repeat do not, spend your money on this imposter, this satans software that you know you'll never use. It will bring you no joy, no happiness. Stay virtuous and steadfast until February 20th, when you can then fill your heart with love and contentment from the saints of Studio 397.

Le Mans Ultimate. So much fun. They even added what was so unforgettable from rf2, CTD. Other than that, I think things are going to be ironed out. Can't wait to race with it here at SRO. Sweet.
