Tough race. Was ment to practice after work but we had grand kids here so my total practice, and to do setup, was left under 10 timed laps for this event. Setup i had was balanced from round 1 so i just took that and then just press gas, i love this track. But obviously it wasnt optimum. 1st stint was so much battling going on and spent most of the time on dirty air until last 10 minutes of stint got clear air and after that it was pretty much driving alone. Happy to finish and have some good fights, ggs!
Qualifying: nervous but successful. Race: I have the impression that my colleagues let me win these qualifications, because there were no lights visible from the First Place. Poor starting reaction and wrongly selected tires for the race caused me to drop to P4. Once again it's not optimal Congratulations to the winner. Maybe next time.
Congratulations on your win Nick and a great race on the podium, Michal on a great qualification. Well, after the race I figured out why I had such terrible tire consumption and a drop in pace that I had to make 2 pit stops and had no chance to make up the lost time. I created problems for myself by experimenting with the steering wheel settings. I hope I can win back at the next stage
So busy at the moment (managed to get home from work for this one) and was unable to practice beforehand but like Toni I love this track so wanted to take part. Setup was ok, I need to work on it a little more but otherwise fine. Chewed up my softs after 15 minutes so had to stop early, swapped to mediums but those at the end were finished and I was lapping two seconds slower. Just hanging on really. Just kept making silly little mistakes that lost too much time. Otherwise I reckon I could’ve been top 8 maybe. Pace seemed to be there. Practice would have meant knowing this in advance of course so my own fault. Apologies to @Michael LaBelle he got passed by another car and the last few corners of the lap he was very sideways. I hit the brakes a few times to avoid contact then he slowed for turn one and although I tried to brake and get out of the way but I bumped into him. Sorry. I’ll try and write positive reports at some point but these cars are hard work for me. Lol. Grats to the podium finishers.
Set-Up? Default has all you need, including too much drag Quali was not bad, but I knew from the previous rounds, that the race is a whole different story. I really thought, that my tyre deg (management) was much better this time. But high drag and too much fuel at the pitstop (10% more than needed) cost me this time. Probably there is still room for improvement at the tyre management side, I think that not efficient enough. Of course, apart from the drag I could take a deeper look what helps on the set up, too. Especially when there is such a tight midfield. I am also not sure, if the soft might be the better tyre, if treated right. See you in two weeks time.
Love this track, didn't have much practice myself, just went with a basic ish setup, seemed to have some decent pace..PB in quali. Had a pretty decent start, kept my place and settled nicely into the race. First stint went well, I could build a nice gap to the car behind. Pitted a little earlier than I wanted to but this track was just eating the front tires. Took mediums for the second stint and added far to much fuel with cost some more time. Lost some pace on the mediums though which probs made me push a little harder which killed the fronts with 10.-15mins left I lost all the pace and @Ken Jagger started to catch..I thought the race was done with Ken just over a second behind but there was still one lap to go, just about managed to stay ahead. Another lap or corner and Ken would've took the spot. Congrats to my team mate for the win and podium. Can't wait for the next one..
The track is really great, I enyojed every lap of it! In practice and Q I was about 0,5 - 1s behind the leaders, I was expecting smaller gap. P4. In race I again managed to make a good start, got to P3. I was able to stay in touch with P1,2.. i really didn't expect it, with such gap in P and Q. Then someone made mistake, and I took P2. After Roman's early pit stop after 20 mins, I smelled the scent of victory, as I knew Roman would have to do another pit stop, because of high fuel consumption. I stayed out 2 laps more after half distance, to have a bit more life in tyres at the end of the race. Nick was P1 when I came out of the box. I tried to catch him, but he drove good, made no mistakes. Congrats to the winner! I'm really happy with my race, drived consistently, only made one small mistake. Even though I didn't have speed over a single lap, I managed to pull out the best result possible in the race. Love this car, can't wait for the next round!
really fun if not stressfull race, was not expecting to be in contention for the win but got a good setup for once and mosport is one of my favorite tracks. Got a good start and was behind roman, managed to stay in touch and was chipping away at the lead a tenth per lap then roman made a mistake at part 2 of moss corner and I took the lead, nearly ran wide myself watching him do it, it was then my turn to make a mistake at turn 3 when I ran wide on the grass and dropped to third. roman then pitted at the 38 min to go mark leaving me to duel with matej, I managed to get close but not close enough to pass in the dirty air so decided to try the undercut on fresh tyres at the 32 min mark which worked a treat when matej came back out behind, roman then pitted again at the 20 min to go mark so was back in the lead to my surprise, from that point on matej was 1.5-1.9 seconds behind trading tenths, was trying to maintain the gap whilst nursing the left front which was not easy but thankfully I did not make any mistake until the finish but the pressure was on. Well done all the traffic, I thought there would be issues but everyone knew what blue flags mean so there were none.
