WELCOME TO ROUND 4 SANDOWN RACEWAY

Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately 25 km (16 mi) south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its "drag strip" front and back straights being 899 m (983 yd) and 910 m (1,000 yd) long respectively.

    History
Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. The circuit hosted its first Australian Touring Car Championship race in 1965.

    Motor racing
The opening meeting, held on 11 and 12 March 1962, featured the 1962 Sandown International Cup, which was contested by world-famous international drivers including Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, Bruce McLaren and John Surtees. A second Sandown International Cup was held in 1963, the two races serving as the forerunners of the Sandown round of the annual Tasman Series from 1964 to 1975. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s the race meetings continued to attract international stars along with the best of Australia's drivers.

    Drivers briefing

    1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcasted

    Broadcaster_final_Rob_small.jpg
    2. Sandown Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel and Tires are set to normal.
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 100% damage
    5) This event has a Formation lap with a standing start
    - Tires: you can select the tire compound for Qual and Race in the Customize menu.

    3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    4. FORMATION LAP & STANDING START
At the end of the formation lap, please make sure you are lined up properly:
At the end of the formation lap, find your starting position (the red square)

Move up slowly to the RED ARROW until it disappears and brake.

    5. You can find the password for the race server on the Sandown event page.

    6. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    7. Please use the
SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    8. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.

Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    9. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

Please enter without custom skins on the server!

Can everybody please drop their costum skin and select a default skin.
There is probably a costume skin giving loading problems for others.

Another strange thing is that I practised in the server two or three times this week, but I don't see my times in any sessions, I don't know if it's linked to this problem. Other people were in the server with me, I see that session and their times, but my name there isn't

Grats to the winner and whoever finished, felt ok at the start made a place, someone over took me by cutting the track and then looked like had no intention of giving the place back? so I fought for the place perhaps a little to much which resulted in contact, spun me round and I collected a couple of cars as the pack came through, apologies for any damage caused as a result. Not enjoying these cars or the racing... Have fun on the remaining races

Apologies. I am training for an Ironman. 6 hours biking today left me with no practice time.

yay! I was finally able to win. Great qualifying lap, Toni! I'm sorry you had to leave.

But there were some unpleasant moments today, just a couple of days ago, in a conversation with friends sim racers, I cited the example of the SRO race as an example of mutual respect and correctness, but today I had the most struggle with the guys who were one or several laps behind. Unfortunately, this is not normal, after all, if I caught up with you on a lap, driving at your pace is too slow for me, but today no one slowed down on the straight line or gave in to the trajectory; one guy, in the heat of such a strange struggle, damaged my right suspension. I hope this won't happen again in the future.

    Pretty sure that was me.
Grid was tight and cars ahead were slow off the line relative to myself and a few beside/behind me. I'm fairly sure I didn't 'cut the track'. I'd have to see replay but felt more like I dipped the right side wheels in the grass only. Either way, it was an avoidance action and within moments you were out of my sights anyways so I didn't even consider giving place back. I had anticipated the middle of the track being crowded and messy and had aimed in the direction I went at the start, towards the grass. Was bit of a wild ride but slowing down in that moment wasn't really an option...just creates more issues because accordion effect.
Sorry for your other troubles though...and hope you stick with the cars. They are quite finicky but with right setup perhaps they can be a bit tamer. My car was very finicky and while I had ok mid pack pace, before I was sent a very different setup from my own, I don't think it was very good. The car was much more comfortable with the other setup and I finally felt like there was a bit of forgiveness in the thing. Not much, but I'll take any I can get from this thing!

Congrats Roman, you were unreacheable. It's a pity for Toni, I would have liked to enjoy a good fight in the front row, and maybe take advantage of your battle.
I must say that I also saw some lapped drivers not slowing down on the straights, but braking until the last meter as if they were fighting for position. Few times happened to me, but many times with Roman. I haven't done many races in SRO but it's the first time I've seen this behavior in SRO.
I want to hope that it is not intentional, but due to lack of experience
Bye guys, se you on next race BATHUUUUUUURST

Firstly.... sorry to the server for the mix up in practice. I thought @Ben Summers and I could use our custom skins this round but seemingly not. Going to give up trying to use them now as there seems to be a problem with either this mod or the way I have made them.

Watching the broadcast now.... wondering what was captured on broadcast of the opening laps ;)

No it wasn't you bud, I should of looked at the replay anyways before I accuse anyone of cutting the track, it's just me throwing a tantrum more than anything :p just can't get to grips with these cars.. but I'm just gonna blame my wheel rather than me not having enough skill to control these cars..
