Welcome to Round 6 Monza 10K

    HISTORY
The first track was built from May to July 1922 by 3,500 workers, financed by the Milan Automobile Club[9] – which created the Società Incremento Automobilismo e Sport (SIAS) (English: Motoring and Sport Encouragement Company) to run the track. The initial form was a 3.4 square kilometres (1.31 sq mi) site with 10 km (6.2 mi) of macadamised road – comprising a 4.5 km (2.8 mi) loop track, and a 5.5 km (3.4 mi) road track. The track was officially opened on 3 September 1922, with the maiden race the second Italian Grand Prix held on 10 September 1922.

There was major rebuilding in 1938–39, constructing new stands and entrances, resurfacing the track, removing the high speed ring and adding two new bends on the southern part of the circuit. The resulting layout gave a Grand Prix lap of 6.300 km (3.915 mi), in use until 1954. The outbreak of World War II meant racing at the track was suspended until 1948 and parts of the circuit degraded due to the lack of maintenance and military use. Monza was renovated over a period of two months at the beginning of 1948 and a Grand Prix was held on 17 October 1948.

    High speed oval
In 1954, work began to entirely revamp the circuit, resulting in a 5.750 km (3.573 mi) course, and a new 4.250 km (2.641 mi) high-speed oval with banked sopraelevata curves (the southern one was moved slightly north). The two circuits could be combined to re-create the former 10 kilometres (6.214 mi) long circuit, with cars running parallel on the main straight. The first Lesmo curve was modified to be made faster, and the track infrastructure and facilities were also updated and improved to better accommodate the teams and spectators.

Yesterday I was on the server to practice a bit. For the first few laps, I thought it was impossible to make the chicanes because of the brakes, but then I realized that it was quite possible when you use the engine to brake. Doing laps started to be fun, so it's a bit of a pity that you made such a decision.

I thought I was doing you guys a favour. No problem, I'll put the chicanes back.

    Drivers briefing

    1. Monza Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel and Tires are set to normal.
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 50% damage
    5) This event has a standing start without a formation lap.

    2. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    3. You can find the password for the race server on the Monza event page.

    4. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    5. Please use the
same name in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

    6. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.

Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    7. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

Not sure if I can race tonight or even finish the race. My PC is on its last legs and randomly black screen crashes almost every day and I've not figured out how to fix it or if I can. I've been trying most of the afternoon to fix it but haven't been able to yet.

Thank you for organizing this league, for someone like me who thinks that the older the car, the better it is, such a league is like a sip of water in the desert. I would like to thank everyone who took part in it, especially those who persevered until the end. gg Maddie. Cheers.

I don't know if I can bring myself to watch the replay and write a race review!

Congrats on the championship @Maddie Shepherd and to everyone that stuck it out to the end. I wish we had the numbers we started the season with, races were very lonely.

Thanks for the series! As Neil said, it would have been nice to have a higher and more consistent attendance but difficult cars tend to kill motivation for a lot of drivers.

I don't know how my game and PC didn't crash last week during the race but glad it held out. Had a great battle with @Neil Wood early on and passed him but made a mistake at the 2nd chicane and flipped my car, getting a lot of damage in the process. Neil would make a mistake at the same place a lap or two later but would get stuck in the barrier unfortunately. Later on I had to serve a DT penalty for skipping one of the chicanes. Thought I had slowed down enough through it but oh well. I was down to 3rd and slowly caught @Caitlin Penny and @Matias Estrela as they were battling for the lead. The gap came down to about 2.5 seconds when Caitlin made a mistake out of Parabolica and span. Matias was caught up in the incident and I luckily managed to avoid hitting both of them as I retook the lead again and coasted to the finish. Was unbelievably happy at the end and pretty pleased with how the last 4 races went, despite the rough start of the season for me. Congrats to Caitlin and Matias for finishing on the podium and everyone else who took part :D

[Edit: On the point of BOP, I'm not sure how balanced these cars were when you look back at them, but also not sure how they were different. I only drove the Auto Union because I preferred the cockpit view to the others.]
