That's not something I've ever seen before o_O. Have you been able to connect to other AC servers without problems before? I'll do some research tomorrow to see if I can find anything related.

I saw from the server log files that you were using a user name of "Dave" without a surname. For all our sims/servers you must use your SRO Member name which should be "Dave Barry", so make sure your Steam nickname matches your profile name. I don't think this is relevant to the problem but just an observation.

    Ok
I’ll sort that out tonight mate. Only other thing I can think of is if my steam is is not in there. I can join all other servers fine. Regards
    Dave

Dave are you using AC Content Manager to join the server? If so please try joining from Steam. Shouldn't make a difference I know, but I'm plucking at straws currently.

Dave this is some info from our Server Hosts, please check these logs for anything we can use to help :)
    Logs
The first thing a driver should check if experiencing a client crash is their local log files. They can be found in Documents/Assetto Corsa/logs and are written over every time the driver launches an event. Usually these files are the most helpful:

    • errors.txt
    • log.txt
    • custom_shaders_patch.log (If using CSP)
Check through those files looking for obvious errors, there might be an issue with a track/car/CSP etc. If you see something like that, reinstall the piece of content causing the error.

Maybe worth trying some of these ideas too Dave. I searched on "Handshake fail when trying to join Assetto Corsa Server"

I've also raised a Support Ticket with our AC Server provider to see if they have any ideas.

    Hi Ken
I do have an error but no clue what it means. This is the error
    INIReader: C:\Users\rebst\Documents/Assetto Corsa/cfg/race.ini > KEY_NOT_FOUND: [SESSION_0] SPAWN_SET

Me neither and it might not be relevant. I'll communicate it to our server provider when they get back to me.

I've assigned you a car skin to eliminate that as a potential issue (shouldn't be but plucking at straws). See if that makes any difference when trying to join.

    Hi mate
I have been through all the above. Lets see if your server guys can shed any light on that error.
I am a bit apprehensive to uninstall the sim atm as its working on other servers
    Regards
    Dave

No don't uninstall anything, at least not yet Dave. If you aren't able to get on the server for tomorrow's race, and if you're willing, I can setup the server with another car/track to check if you can join that. I'm thinking about testing to see if it's specifically a server/client problem for you (and Andrew) in some odd way.

I'm leaning towards something like CSP (or other addon) maybe.

I have the latest version installed 0.2.4

I'm also a Patreon for the creator of Pure which I have installed as well. Whether that would cause issues I don't know.

Issue has been sorted, I had a different version of the Helicorsa app on my install. Replaced with the version on the SRO downloads section. I can join the server now.

Needs to be activated within Content Manager also.

I knew it was something simple, I randomly joined about six other non-passworded servers with no issues.

Hopefully I can still join tomorrow evening! :)

    They came back with this:

Thanks for getting in touch. Please can you check whether these drivers are running CSP, and if their CSP version is different to the version that is used by other drivers who can join?

The first thing i'd recommend trying is changing the CSP version to see if this helps. Following that, if the server is using any modded content, it may be worth redownloading and re-installing this content (with a clean installation) to see if this helps.

If none of these suggestions work, please can you ask the drivers to provide their log.txt from Documents\Assetto Corsa\logs\log.txt - this may help us find the cause of the issue.

Regarding the CSP version, I'm using the "recommended" version (as per AC CM) of 0.1.79 and if Andrew is using 0.2.4 then maybe that isn't the cause, but it might be worth Dave trying a change to one or the other as a test? The SRO server does not have CSP set as mandatory, in the way that Helicorsa is, so I don't see that the server is the issue for any CSP incompatibilities.
We do not use Modded Content on the server, only the default content within any mods we use.

Everyone please do your best to respect track limits in both the 1st turn and the final turn especially :)

    Today was raceday.
1st series here with the RSS F3 (I believe). I've raced these before in our own League so I had a good base setup. But since I hadn't driven it in a long while I dedicated almost all my practice time from the last 2 weeks to this track/car combo. I was fairly optimistic I would do ok in the race.
    Open practice:
Having set the fasted time earlier in the week and looking through the lap times set by others it was looking good. The only "dark horse" was Kiril. He had done 1 lap. So I was kinda sure he would be able to match my time (as usual)
    Official practice:
Grip was low at 96% But for some reason the setup I had made was good at this low level. I think due to the high downforce setting I was using.
I was sandbaggin a bit to see what others could do. Then one of the Polish guys (sorry don't know which of you 2 it was) set a respectable 1.25.0
Was going to better that, but somehow the speed suddenly wasn't there anymore.

    Qualifying:
Here I was optimistic as the grip had evolved to 99% That was lower 1.24 territory.
So did a good outlap followed by a very good banker lap. 1.24.3 Then Kiril nearly matched that. So I wasn't sure it would be enough. Kept the concentration high and went faster each lap. Stranded at a 1.24.0 STUNNING LAP! But still Kiril was not far behind. Had to keep a good eye on him in the race.

    Race:
Pole for me. I had done some practice starts so that would be fine.
Started well as I expected, but Kiril matched me. Got through the 1st corner ok. Then on the following straight Kiril gained on me. Slipstream
Then I entered turn 2 wrong not thinking of the weight difference between quali fuel and race fuel... Kiril got by... Nice move BTW.
So had to follow him around for about 10 minutes. Tried 1 overtake, but the risk was to great. Fearing a collision I backed out. Decided to try to make him nervous as the only opportunity for a clean pass was if he made a mistake. Then at a point where I didn't expect it he lost control on the exit of the last corner. From then on I had the race firmly under control. Or so I thought. Came up to a few backmarkers. The first few did very good in letting me by, but then there was Ken.... I think he didn't realise I was there or maybe thought I was someone else because he decided to race me  Had an off at the 1st corner as a result. Damaged the car and lost me a heap of time.
Anyway. Was still in the lead. Took me a couple of laps to get to grips with the way the car reacted. Watched the timer slowly tic down.
A win. Felt good as there was no chance to take a breather during the race as everyones speed was high.
Good racing guys. Up to the next one.

That was good ol' Michal Mazurek, always a serious competitor when it comes to open wheeler respectively formula cars.

Therefore I was very surprised that he came from the back and seemed a stuck behind me for a bit. Not at all surprised that I braked out myself in the last turn, which allowed him to vanish into the distance.

This was my first race with my new pedal set and the load cell brake, which feels really weird. My old Logitech G29 pedal set caused a lot of trouble lately (the general problem persisted for more than a year and nothing helped to solve the problem). I switched from the original brake pedal to the clutch pedal as brake, which is ok but as soon as the gas pedal flickered worse and worse, I had to do something. Although that is different story.

I struggled in practice to find a reasonable configuration, set up wise regarding the car and my new pedals. The car got better with more downforce, which makes sense, when you can open DRS every lap on the long straights. Probably not in the spirit of the inventor but I won't complain. I soon recognized that the biggest problem with this car is, when you spin it, the hot tyres make the next turns and laps "challenging". So the main goal is to avoid that, so I only practised long runs with the mediums. That paid dividend in the race, because the guys arround me faced that problem. I avoided it (when I outbraked myself to lap Simon, it was tight but I only lost a spot) until the second to last lap, completely unnecessary and that brought Mariusz back into contention. I just finished ahead of him and somehow Phil. I was confused that I had to go another lap, luckely I kept going and had the fuel to do so.

Fourth is way too good for that kind of performance, but I take it and try to improve my braking, because that still does not feel good or confident. Also way slow, but it is not so bad as I expected it.
