    Drivers briefing

    1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcast
    Broadcaster: Rob Milliken
    [IMG]

    2. Laguna Seca Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 100% damage
    5) This event has a formation lap
    a. the formation lap is done in single file
    b. when the poll sitter exits the last corner, the race starts
    c. you may not overtake until you exit the last corner yourself

    6) This is a dry race
    7) Qualification is set to "private". That means that you will be alone on track so you can put in your best time without traffic (point 3 qual rule still applies).
    8) See the "DISCO PROCEDURE" 1 post below.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE A HEADSET CONNECTED TO TEAM SPEAK, WITH OUR WITHOUT A MIC.

    3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    4. You can find the password for the race server on the Laguna Seca event page.

    5. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    6. Please use the
SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    7. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.

Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    8. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

    Last but not least ...
SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!
And always remember that your fellow SRO members have also put in a lot of time practising for this race,
so please be careful and respectful with your buddies. :)

I'm just hoping for no disconnections today. Three disconnections in two races is extremely worrying, and if it happens again today then I don't know what to do!

I've now had 4 disconnections in 3 races, 2 of which were mass disconnections affecting multiple others too. This is getting really silly, and I can't continue to race like this. I'm effectively at a 2 lap deficit to others. If you can't do something about this server before the next race, I'm going to have to deregister.

Once again, I'm so sorry for the contact @Nick Westy . That was purely a misjudgement on my part, and I took a drive-through immediately as per the rules. We'd had a great race up until that point, and that just makes me feel worse about hitting you. You deserved better.

I'm also sorry to @Ertan Karadag for the same thing, although I have to admit that I'm a bit confused about why you braked so early for that corner. It's still my fault, but I don't think that was a reasonable braking point unless you had some kind of issue I didn't know about.

After watching Robs broadcast (good job, as always btw.), oh dear - a lot of action and carnage.
My race could have ended in tears pretty early. See

Close call and lucky me, also because when I would have not made the mistake into turn one or tried to pass Mark into Canada corner...
Apart from that and the disco, my race was smooth. I was very happy with my set up, which was a compromise between downforce/topspeed/stability. Enough stability to feel comfortable and being able to do the Kink full throttle, but also a topspeed roughly 305 kph at the end of the start finish straight. The tyre deg was also quite ok, the only issue I had, over one lap it was slow. Huge respect, for those who were able to drive the car with less wing. Although, even I felt quite comfortable, it was still tough out there. In addition, I was glad to have my FFB back. I knew something was strange in Mid Ohio with my G29 but I could not figure out what.

Regarding the disco party at half point, it seems ervyone except for Ben and was affected by that. Weird, that was way more extreme than at Surfers Paradise. And for me, that was the first one for a long time. I assume no one is save from that, so it would be good to have that fixed. I am sure the guys will be on it, even though I think we have to accept a certain risk, but of course 100% is too much.

    TO EVERYBODY IN THIS RACE.

Internally we are talking about a solution for the disco's and we will let you know how we move forward addressing this.

For my debut race yesterday, I found it to be full of action. My strategy was working out very well until, all of a sudden, I got kicked from the server—no idea why… But I didn’t give up and made the best out of the situation.
At one point, I misjudged the car and had to brake earlier or take the corner more slowly, which led to Penny running into me. These things happen, all good!
I had a lot of fun, except for the "disco". Otherwise, it was a great race! I’m looking forward to the next one—hopefully without a "disco."

Well, that was a great race for me. Obviously the server issues half way through helped me get a leg up for sure, I think just John and Myself were lucky enough to avoid a disco.
I felt that I deserved something for sure though as I hardly made any mistakes and finally no speeding penalties :D
John just had a little too much for me at the end, but really happy with my P2 in this race.

See you all at Laguna Seca, fingers crossed all goes well.
Here is my video for the race....

    Regards Ben

Well, I have mixed feelings about this win. It's not like I was the best in the field. You almost won it too.
Cool to see it from your perspective. Thanks for uploading. One tends to forget that there is a real human being driving and not just a virtual car on a screen.:D
I was reading all the texting in the chat and felt I had to respond by explaining the disco rule applied to lap 1, so had to stop the car to type and I only caught you at the end of the race.

The first lap rule isn't working and we are busy working out a good solution for the next events where no one who discos will lose a lap coming back on the server. To be explained in more detail later.

I lost connection but I didn't understand I should have stay and waited till I reconnected. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. I want to thank a competitor who shared a good base setup for the race. I think I can assure everyone it is not the setup that matters.

The disconnections were definitely server-side though, just like in Surfers' Paradise.
