I took part in a different sim league the other day and had no disconnections, so I'm hoping that's a good sign for this race. If it happens again, I'm afraid it's definitely a problem with your server.

    Drivers briefing

    1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcast
    Broadcaster: Rob Milliken
    [IMG]

    2. Portland Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 100% damage
    5) This event has a formation lap
    a. the formation lap is done in single file
    b. when the poll sitter exits the last corner, the race starts
    c. you may not overtake until you exit the last corner yourself

    6) This is a dry race
    7) Qualification is set to "private". That means that you will be alone on track so you can put in your best time without traffic (point 3 qual rule still applies).
    8) See the "DISCO PROCEDURE" 1 post below.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE A HEADSET CONNECTED TO TEAM SPEAK, WITH OUR WITHOUT A MIC.
WHILE ON THE SERVER, WE WILL ALL GO TO THE "RFACTOR2" ROOM ON TEAM SPEAK FOR THE RACE BRIEFING DURING WARMUP TO RECIEVE INSTRUCTIONS.

    3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    4. You can find the password for the race server on the Portland event page.

    5. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    6. Please use the
SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    7. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.

Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    8. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

    Last but not least ...
SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!
And always remember that your fellow SRO members have also put in a lot of time practising for this race,
so please be careful and respectful with your buddies. :)

    DISCO PROTOCOL
To prevent the loss of drivers to an event due to mass-disconnections, Sim Racing Online introduces the following protocol.
(TEAMSPEAK INFO - go to TS channel rFactor 2)

    ADDITIONAL INFO:
    - A group of discos of 3 or more have to happen within a time zone of 5 minutes, otherwise they are viewed as separate incidents. For exemple ...
Driver 1 discos at the start, driver 2 after 15 minutes and driver 3 after 1 hour, those are separate incidents.
    - The pits will remain open during a Full Course Yellow period.
    - After a disco you can rejoin with a fresh vehicle : When you get back in session, your car is brand new, ready to start in Pits and you can use "Drive" to get back on track.

Hey all! Had a friend send me this series and I'm excited to join in. Coincidentally I'm a Portland native and love this track. Looking forward to it. It's been a couple years since I was able to run a series consistently, I really miss it.

Such a fun time. Been ages since I got to do anything over an hour long and I love the strategy that comes in to play with tyre management. Got some speedy guys up there, thanks for the clean racing!

Probably, the most fierce competition in this series so far. I thought my quali lap was quite good, but I was only eight. This circuit seemed to have more grip than all the others before, so it was no problem to run map 8 all the time. Still, I am not sure, why I lost so much time in sector 2, maybe not aggressive enough on the gas out of turn 6. But yeah, quali with this car seems not my thing.

The start of the race was also not that great, lost two positions but as always plan was to play the long game. But that had to wait because I fell victim to the tough turns 10/11 and 12. Could have been worse only lost around 10 seconds and two positions. Got Mark with P2P and had a battle with Jacob, especially at the end of my first stint.
Again, I feared the risk as Jacob and I were side by side heading to turn 9  so I backed out. To my surprise, the overcut got me the position, and I was suddenly behind Nick.
At all the other tracks that was a clear matter and I expected him to disappear into the distance fast. But that did not happen, quite the opposite, after a misjudgment from him into turn one while lapping cars, it was close to having a sniff.
I lost contact again - probably also because I was very cautious at lapping cars.

The grande finale was then a brave Björn Hagemann on the prime and a lot of cars hunting him on the alternates. He made an error in the usual section and I followed Robin through, even though that was a bit clumsy, nearly using the inside curb as a launch pad. Still, I made it and it seemed, that I could get a run on Robin for the podium, but in the end, I was not fast or brave enough. Congrats to the podium finishers and every competitor on a good race.

In a parallel universum, there is a championship on the line in Long Beach, where I have the potential to win the race and Nick only finishing 7th or lower. I would not bet on that, but who knows what will happen. See you there.

probably focused too much on race setup as was missing something in qualy, not happy with 5th.

A very scrappy race for me with too many mistakes, misjudged how slow Kostas would be at the apex in turn 7 and touched the back of him which gave me a half spin, sorry for any damage caused, Bjoern ran wide at turn 4 and I managed to slip passed as he rejoined but was then under pressure from him, over cooked it into the penultimate turn, this seems to be my nemesis corner as also did the same in the porsche race whilst in 2nd as well a few weeks ago, enter a bit too fast and its kiss your ass goodbye.

Filled the tank to the brim whilst getting a new front wing and knew I would have to look after the second set of softs longer than planned, race seemed to come to me afterwards as people did their first stop in front of me so I did not have to overtake them, but Philip was right behind me on fresher tyres and I did not want to abuse my own to pull a gap as I was running long, so used most of my P2P during this phase to stay ahead, as I was closing on my team mate robin after the last stop he had an unlucky incident with Gilles which almost caused me to hit my own team mate but just managed to avoid him, managed to hunt down and pass Bjoern struggling on the hard tyres to finally get back into 2nd and then bring it home, surprised to get back into 2nd with a less than ideal race but gotta hand it to Lars, first time in these cars and he was the class of the field, really impressed.

Another race ruined by being crashed from P3, just like in Laguna Seca, which was with a backmarker who had probably fallen asleep on the wheel. I don't know what I can do about this. 33 seconds damage repair put me a lap back.

@Rob Milliken stop saying that I'm racing against my team!

@Freddy Hell I had a ton of fun slipping and sliding with you the last few laps while both of our tyres were gone, wish that could have gone on longer.

The main lesson I got from this race = .... "That's what you get for not practicing!"

I managed to get a good qualy lap in, mainly because I know the track and because I discovered to use first gear instead of second coming out of some corners during qual.
In the race I was braver than I should have been and went too hot into the left-hander at the end of the backstraight and spun big time! Left me with a massive flat-spot and I had to come in because all my sh*t was vibrating of my table. I could see it dance towards the edge.
After that some more spins in that same corner and more new tyres and a lot of other stuff, I decided to park it, and live to race another day. Did the last 7 minutes and moved on ....

Congrats @Lars Hagemann, Great win! Lucky podium for me considering the pace of others but I was just glad to get to the finish, I've not had much luck in this series, Kudos to Nick for a good recovery drive.

    On to the next
