WELCOME TO ROUND 5 BAKU CITY CIRCUIT

    Baku City Circuit
In December 2013, Formula One President and CEO Bernie Ecclestone suggested that the race would be run in 2016 but later said that because the Korean Grand Prix organisers were in breach of contract, it would be moved to 2015.
However, in July 2014 it was announced that the race's debut would be delayed until 2016.

The 6.003 km (3.730 mi), anti-clockwise layout of the circuit was designed by circuit architect Hermann Tilke. The circuit starts adjacent to Azadliq Square, then loops around Government House before heading west along a 1 km (0.62 mi) straight to the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower. Here, the track has a narrow 7.6 m (25 ft) uphill traversal and then circles the Old City before opening up onto a 2.2 km (1.4 mi) stretch along Neftchilar Avenue back to the start line. The circuit was projected to be the fastest street circuit in the world, with a top speed close to 360 km/h (220 mph) and the second-longest circuit on the current F1 calendar, behind the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The circuit's tight layout through urban parkland shares similarities with the Montjuïc circuit which hosted the Spanish Grand Prix in the 1970s.

The 2016 GP2 race, which was in support of the 2016 European Grand Prix, saw 12 out of 22 drivers fail to finish. Valtteri Bottas set a new unofficial Formula 1 top speed record in qualifying for the 2016 European Grand Prix when Williams claimed to have data showing him reaching 378 km/h (235 mph), eclipsing the previous record of 372 km/h (231 mph) set in 2005 by Juan Pablo Montoya for McLaren while testing at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.

Since the back straight is so long at Baku, where is the pole sitter allowed to accelerate?

also, if unsure of brakings, add wing +1 or front arb +1
i think golden would be soft as hell and wings 1 rofl
..that would need some beers but going work on early morning, have to suffer this brake, gas, brake, gas sober.

and those are porsche settings so all is minimum but rear suspension +1
    arbs minimum but rear +1

porsche rear heavy so just play around to find it if another car

DON'T FORGET THAT WE ARE ON SUMMER-TIME
On the event page, check when the race starts in your own local time-zone.

    Drivers briefing

    1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcast
    Broadcaster: Rob Milliken
    [IMG]

    2. Baku Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 AM (in-game time of course).
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 100% damage
    5) This event has a formation lap. The formation lap ends on the apex of Turn 19 = Mugham. See picture above.
    a. the formation lap is done in single file
    b. when the LMP2 poll sitter exits the last corner, the race starts for LMP2. When the GTE poll sitter exits the last corner, the race starts GTE.
    c. you may not overtake until you exit the last corner yourself

    6) Qualification is set to "private". That means that you will be alone on track so you can put in your best time without traffic (point 3 qual rule still applies).
    7) See the "DISCO PROCEDURE" 1 post below.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE A HEADSET CONNECTED TO TEAM SPEAK, WITH OUR WITHOUT A MIC.
WHILE ON THE SERVER, WE WILL ALL GO TO THE "RFACTOR2" ROOM ON TEAM SPEAK FOR THE RACE BRIEFING DURING WARMUP TO RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS.

    3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    4. You can find the password for the race server on the Baku event page.

    5. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    6. Please use the
SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    7. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.

Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    8. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favorites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and Join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

    Last but not least ...
SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!
And always remember that your fellow SRO members have also put in a lot of time practising for this race,
so please be careful and respectful with your buddies. :)

    DISCO PROTOCOL
To prevent the loss of drivers to an event due to mass-disconnections, Sim Racing Online introduces the following protocol.
(TeamSpeak INFO - go to TS channel rFactor 2)

    ADDITIONAL INFO:
    - A group of discos of 3 or more have to happen within a time zone of 5 minutes, otherwise they are viewed as separate incidents. For exemple ...
Driver 1 discos at the start, driver 2 after 15 minutes and driver 3 after 1 hour, those are separate incidents.
    - The pits will remain open during a Full Course Yellow period.
    - After a disco you can rejoin with a fresh vehicle : When you get back in session, your car is brand new, ready to start in Pits and you can use "Drive" to get back on track.

Sorry, just no practice before this one (been working lots of overtime) and I was finding this really hard going.

just couldn’t get any confidence with the brakes, I was either too soon or too late. Just needed more learning time I guess , didn’t help I was constantly hitting the walls!

Took off my rear wing and spun on the final straight so just escaped out before I caused an accident.

Hope everyone else has a good race :)

Why tf was my pitstop so slow?? I lost 25 seconds to the leaders, I finished only 20s back. I could have won. 45 second pit stop

Big thanks to Toni for the setup. It's a really great combination. On mine I'd be a second slower. You're a genius!

All the training and races before this I suffered from driving this car, today, despite the dangerous track, I enjoyed it!

If you change tyres, you lose 30 seconds, the leaders did not change tyres...

I tried also the medium, I guess that was not my best decision but the rest was also not that good. One of those days.

Q i was 5 tenths up in my pole lap, but it never happened. Wall had something to say about that.
R walls walls walls so longer the event went, slower the car was on acceleration and straights.
Shame, since on pace had more to give. Just one of those days....

Cheeky buggers. I gained 20 seconds in under half an hour, didn't even get a podium.

Also how did Richard Taylor do the whole race without stopping? That's not possible for me, I needed like 120 litres total and the tank only holds 75
