Once again the sound problem I'm experiencing with RF2 raised its head when the sessions switched to the race grid. For as yet unknown reasons all sounds go AWOL and I can't do what I do in P/Q/WU which is simply change the sound output in the RF2 menu from Auto to Speakers or vice versa and it all works again normally. Not being able to ESC to the menus within the countdown timer means I can't fix it . I tried to drive visually using the rev counter and for a few laps it worked, but then I got some downshifts wrong and it wasn't worth trying to continue as much as I liked this car and track combination.

I don't know how you even drove those laps without engine sound!!

What kind of sound setup do you have? I know that if sound devices switch while the game is open then it needs restarted. Can you disable all other sound devices so Windows doesn't switch anything? Wireless? Wired?

    Me neither!
Its a new PC and I'm using the Realtek onboard sound output, the same as my previous PC. When I check Windows it still shows that it's the default sound output for RF2 . If I change the output to another device either in RF2 or Windows, whilst still running RF2, e.g. headset (used for Teamspeak) or monitor which has feeble speakers, the sound starts again and if I then switch back to speakers or auto settings in RF2, the sound comes out of the speaker again.
What's odd is that it is only rF2 where I'm experiencing this problem. PC2 and other sims/games work 100% normally with no sound issues

Yeah rF2 has never liked hotswapping sound devices at all. I don't know if the other gmotor games suffered this too. I use voicemeeter for my sound routing so I can "hotswap" to different outputs by keeping the same device.

Yes but I'm only hotswapping to fix the problem and not create it :)

I suspect that your device is having a momentary drop out... that is enough to make the sound stop working. You have tried being wired instead of wireless? I can't remember if you mentioned that.

    Always wired.

Connx is solid and always has been. The sound goes off for various reasons:
    1. Exit rF2 and then restart it again.
    2. Think I've seen it after reloading a different setup.
    3. Change a setting on the setup while in the garage.
