    WELCOME TO ROUND 2 SALZBURGRING

The Salzburgring is a 4.241 km (2.635 mi) motorsport race track located in Plainfeld, east of Salzburg.

The race track was first opened in 1969. Lying in a narrow, alpine valley, it has a rather simple layout, with two long straights plus the sweeping and fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" ("paddock turn") at the bottom, and the narrow "Nockstein-Kehre" on the top. In spite of its simple layout, it garnered a fearsome reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights and the "Fahrerlagerkurve". Michael Doohan describes the section between 7 and 10 as his all time favorite piece of racetrack, likening it to "threading a motorcycle through the eye of a needle at 290 km/h (180 mph) whilst banging fairings with your competitors with armco barriers on each side". He continues "Sure it was fast and dangerous, but also enormous fun. To me it's what motorcycle racing is all about".

The Salzburgring track hosts touring car races like the German ADAC Procar Series, Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft, Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge, Super Tourenwagen Cup and the European Touring Car Championship. It was also the home of the Austrian motorcycle Grand Prix from 1971 to 1994, except for the 1980 and 1992 seasons. Giacomo Agostini and Angel Nieto are the all-time leaders in motorcycle Grand Prix victories at the circuit, with six wins apiece. Sidecar motorcycle races were also held at the venue. The track has also hosted the Oldtimer Grand Prix as well as during the last years a "Rupert Hollaus Memorial" organized by Ex-Grand Prix motorcycle and sidecar racer, Wolfgang Stropek [de]. In 2008, the circuit played host to the then one-off European Touring Car Cup, with the event being won by Michel Nykjaer.

    can anyone confirm?
i think there's an issue with the porsche.
oil temp keeps climbing, gets to 101C and engine dies.
tested other cars and they climb to 118C before they die.
or am i missing something in the way to drive it?

    Hi Karl,
I tested the Porsche online on the Salzburgring and did not have any problems with the engine.
As soon as the yellow light / gear-change indicator comes on, I shift up. I did a number of laps while the oil was above 110 degrees and the max on the Porsche was 114 degrees for me. So I would advise not to over-ref before upshifts and let the refs go down low enough before you downshift, otherwise you're also over-reffing the engine.

What also might help is to lift the throttle or clutch before you upshift.

This is the Porsche setup I used.

There is an invisble wall in the gravel trap into turn 12, at least I hit something when I did go off.
Anyway, will try to make this round, but could be last minute.

Good race, this races during the week struggle for attendance quite a while, which is a bit sad. But as long as there are some battles it is ok for me, I do not see the need for "gimmicks" but if you want to try that, it is also ok for me.

To my race, struggled a bit with the cars, the Porsche seemed to be the most fun. Somehow it seems not that competitive regarding its topspeed. Anyway, had a good fight with Jose, although it ended a bit weird, but check yourself, if you like

Well, I think Toni Talvitie will join us next time if he doesn't have to work. Maybe we can postpone the gimmicks a bit.

The Porsche is one of the best cars in terms of cornering and braking, but it does lack a bit on straight-line speed.
Jose is a fair driver and has a good awareness of where his opponent is on track. He was a bit unlucky when you spun and he also had a half spin avoiding you.
Antonis and Fabio were too fast for the rest of us and had a good fight among themselves. Grats for the win, Antonis, well done!

Next track is Enna Pergusa. I have fun memories of that track from GT Legends. Should be good.

Unfortunate events, I guess my problems was the revs were too high for shifting down to second. What then happened was probably more luck than skill, I tried to avoid big corrections and made the 360 work. I am sorry that it irritated you, definitely not the plan and good that we both avoided a bigger crash.

Officially not, but if the others don't mind, then I don't mind.
So ... other drives ... do you mind if Antonis changes cars?
