    ROUND-2.1.png
    HOCKENHEIM CLASSIC

The DRM (Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft) Hockenheim 1979 event most likely refers to the 1979 Rhein-Pokalrennen, a major race that took place at the Hockenheimring. It featured a main event for Formula 2 cars, won by Stephen South in a March-BMW, with Derek Daly taking second place. The term "DRM" can also sometimes be associated with the German Touring Car Championship, but in 1979, the Rhein-Pokalrennen was a prominent race in the Formula 2 category at that circuit.
    • Winner: Stephen South won both heats of the Formula 2 race, driving for Project Four Racing – ICI Racing Team.
    • Runner-up: Derek Daly, also of the Project Four Racing team, finished in second place.
    • Other notable drivers: Guest driver Hans-Joachim Stuck initially competed strongly with South before retiring with engine failure. Other drivers in the top positions included Beppe Gabbiani, Patrick Gaillard, Marc Surer, and Bobby Rahal.
    • Race format: The final was run over 40 laps, split into two 20-lap heats.
    • Event significance: The race was a significant event in the 1979 season and is still remembered today, largely due to its competitive nature and notable participants.

    POLL changing tyres

Who is in favour of spicing things up with a mandatory pitstop window to change tyres?

That means that everybody has to come into the pits for a mandatory tyre change between 20 and 30 minutes of racing.

    Please vote HERE.

The Developers did not alter the version nr. The update is still named v1.0.
To avoid confusion, I myself, called it v1.1

    I'm on the Capri.
By default, the BMW M1 has its radiator on 1. You should put that on 4 or at least 3.

    DRIVERS BRIEFING

    1. All 5 events of this series will be broadcast
    Broadcaster: Neil Wood

    2. Hockenheim Conditions
    a) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course).
    b) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal, tyres = normal.
    c) Cut Track points are set to 6
    d) 50% damage
    e) The weather is always dry.

    3) This event has a single file formation lap. The pole sitter can start racing coming out of the last corner of Sector 3 in the stadium complex.

    4. PUNTING:

    - If you punt a driver, you have to stop and give the track position back.
    - If you are not able to give the track position back, you have to do a pitlane drive-through.
    - If you do not give the position back or do a drive-through, you will go 3 positions down in the end result after the race.
    - Drivers who are punted can report to me, John van der Geest/admin, if the offender did none of the above.

    5. The use of the Esc key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in the pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    6. You can find the password for the race server on the Hockenheim event page.

    7. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    8. Please use the SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    9. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.
Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    10. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favourites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

Last but not least ... SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!
And always remember that your fellow SRO members have also put in a lot of time practising for this race,
so please be careful and respectful with your buddies. :)

    In the final Poll result for a mandatory pitstop during the race, all in favour of YES have won;

That means that everyone has to do a mandatory pitstop between after 20 and 30 minutes of racing to change all 4 tyres.
Refuelling and anything else is NOT mandatory.
So, from the start after 20 minutes the pitwindow opens and closes after 30 minutes of racing.

If you do not come in or are too early or too late, you will go 3 positions down in the end result.

I am interested to see what car people take tonight!
Practice that pit entry for that mandatory stop, Hockenheim has a nasty chicane as you come in from what I remember.

Damage has been reduced to 50% for the series, because the BMW M1 is extra sensitive to damage and can cause a DNF when hit at 100% damage.

John, maybe you should consider increasing the penalty for failing to take a pit stop. The stop will cost you about 75 seconds, so I would have thought for anyone not running in the top 4 it may be more beneficial to not bother to stop and then loose 3 places

    Fair enough.

    Revised penalty rule:
For failing to do a pit stop or not changing all 4 wheels, or coming in too early or too late, the penalty is being put 10 places down in the end result.

(only changing all 4 tyres takes about 67 seconds if you call it in in advance to your pitcrew)

ACC has the pit window that you can set in advance. No such thing exists for rF2, so having the stops be controlled by a pit window might not be the best decision.. I know I will forget lol not about the stop but to make sure its in the window .. maybe just a mandatory 4 tire change with no pit window is enough? IDK .. hard to police as well without the working pit window .. just my thoughts ;-)

Well I couldn’t serve my penalty because of the false start so I ended up giving up. in addition I hadn’t seen that the pit limits had gone from 200 to 180 kmh so I had another penalty trying to serve the first one. I am really disappointed I had trained a lot for this round

Same on my side, I did not know there was two sounds for the start and I went at the first one. (1st race on rfactor 2)
And sorry for the contact John, I should have stayed in the back and wait for another opportunity.
Congratulations to all the drivers ! And sorry for the mess I've caused, I promise everything will be clear next time

Good battle with smokey Phil brown, made following interesting at the start with reduced visability, amazing how much more speed running low rads gives you, was playing it conservative on max rads and had no straight line speed as a result, lost 2-3 tenths every straight to the same car and had to make it back up at each corner to stay ahead, lucky to get 2nd all things considered.
