The Grand Prix of Naples was an auto racing event, held in Posillipo, in Naples.

In its original incarnation, it began in 1934. Known as the Coppa Principessa di Piemonte in honor of Marie-José of Belgium, it continued from the same event held in 1933 in the Circuito Province Meridionale. It was held again from 1937 to 1939, although from 1938 it was purely a Voiturette race and attracted all-Maserati entries.

After World War II it was restarted as the Gran Premio di Napoli, starting in 1948. The race took place at the 4,100 metres (2.5 mi) Circuito di Posillipo, going along the Via A. Manzoni and Via Nuova Parco. Starting in Formula Two regulations, but from 1954 it became either a sports car race or a non-Championship Formula One race. It was last held in 1962.

In 1998, the Naples circuit received the Rievocazione Storica Gran Premio di Napoli (Grand Prix of Naples Historic Revival). The name Gran Premio di Napoli now refers to a cycling event.

    RACE WEATHER
Napoli has a pretty wet weather track, let's make full use of that.
The last 20 minutes will have rain.
Qualification will be 28 degrees and will have no rain, although a wet track could carry over from practice.

Will practice have mixed weather so we can get laps in the rain?

Yes, practice mirrors the race settings. I was just on in the rain on the server in practice.
On the other hand, if you want it to be dry again, you can select "restart weekend" yourself.

LOL! Napoli does look pretty in the sun. That's why we start in sunny weather, so we'll get a bit of everything.

Napoli looks nice in the wet. The way puddles dry up and dry patches underneath the trees. However a new chapter of drive to survive in this series when its wet...

You get track limits up the hill in narrow section for nothing..it just gives penalty if go too fast lol. maybe take it off as there is no way to cut on this track.

I think it's the "pit line", you need to stay on the left until it ends

no no, sector 2, the narrow buildings and walls. up the hill final part before it starts to go downhill.

That's weird, I only did a few laps but never got a warning there, you're probably going too fast, LOL

    Neither have I.
Since you can't actually "cut" anywhere on this track, I'll have set cut rules to "none".

    DRIVERS BRIEFING

    1. All events of this series will be broadcast
    Broadcaster: Neil Wood

    2. Napoli Conditions
    a) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course).
    b) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal, tyres = normal.
    c) Cut Track points are set to none because of a weird cut track condition.
    d) 50% damage.
    e) The weather is wet for the last 20 minutes.
    f) Qualifying is 10 minutes.

    3. This event has a standing start. No formation lap

    4. PUNTING:
    - If you punt a driver, you have to stop and give the track position back.
    - If you are not able to give the track position back, you have to do a pitlane drive-through.
    - If you do not give the position back or do a drive-through, you will go 3 positions down in the end result after the race.
    - Drivers who are punted can report to me, John van der Geest/admin, if the offender did none of the above.

    5. The use of the Esc key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in the pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    6. You can find the password for the race server on the Napoli event page.

    7. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    8. Please use the SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    9. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.
Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    10. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favourites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

Last but not least ... SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!
And always remember that your fellow SRO members have also put in a lot of time practising for this race,
so please be careful and respectful with your buddies. :)

Well, what a waste of time. Got pole but teleported through the ground when I went to track for the race start, causing an instant DNF. Toni had the same issue.

    LIKE REALLY??!

And we couldn't even restart the race because there wasn't an admin present. Absolute joke.

Edit: Apparently John was present. Still, no restart?

yes, i press esc then back in and got start. then i parked the car seeing the damage had done to grid.
usually yes no restarts but this case would have called one for sure.
