Hello guys, just wondering what are in your plans for the next Assetto Corsa championships. I think there are too low championships in place for AC, guess you admins here could do some more, as it's a popular "simulator". I have some ideas for championships (also we need different types of racing), like the Renault 5 Turbo (fun car), the Formula Renault 3.5 series (OW), the Maserati GT4, the Ginetta, another Leon series (mod was updated recently), etçª. Also i think you should start implementing some different hours, like 22:00h/23:00h, to try to reach some other regions of the world or people (like me) that have a difficult personal availability for early schedules.

Thank you all for your work!

A second series for the Seat LEON is in the making. We had an average of 10 drivers doing the races over the course of the series, so I wouldn't call that a "low championship" but more something people here like. I see for the F3 series done by Nick a good turn up as well. There was a good endurance series going on when I started here, but not to many people taking part. I guess the members have spoken by attending the series they want.
TBH, I you feel you are to fast for this group and don't find it a challenge anymore maybe you should look for some " harder" races elsewhere. I'm not trying to be an ass here by posting this answer, but there is a big difference between sim-racers. I rate myself as only being slightly above average. This means that in this group I can have good and exciting races which are being run to a good standard. But I also run in another group where I have to fight to finish in the middle of the pack. Those races to are run at a good standard. I see no problem in doing that.

As a footnote, I enjoy racing here very much and have no plans to leave (unless forced to)

Footnote 2, live and let live, if people want to race what you call "lower classes", let them. First and foremost is the enjoyment you get out of these sims.

    o_O Hu??

I think you misunderstood my point, i meant "too low number" to VERY FEW CHAMPIONSHIPS with Assetto Corsa! I never meant "this is too easy" or "too hard", i enjoy being here and i respect a lot the GREAT work admins are doing here! If you read my post carefully i ONLY suggested other championships because i think we could have more "full" grids here with AC instead of other "sims".

Even if i needed a new challenge or a "more competitive" grid i knew where i could find them, not needed you to tell me, lol...

But YES, if you want to know i'm more of a rF2 racer, i used to race in some of the more competitive leagues around, which doesn't mean the level here is not "good enough" or i'm "not enjoying" racing here! I think there are great drivers around, some even better than me. Problem is that i have a baby now and the time to practice/race is very limited...

Hope you understood now. Thanks :)

Thanks for your input Rui. Always appreciated. I have also mentioned running a weekday evening series for guys in the North/South Americas but that time could be several hours later than what you propose. Your proposed time falls in between. One problem is we don't have admins available to run those series. We are currently running a level of series that is manageable for our admins. But we are growing and we will need to eventually add more series in more time slots.

But... not sure if you remember but R2P had times like 20:00h/23:00h/02:00h for same series, just a suggestion of course, i understand your opinion ;)

    Thanks mate!

    Hi all!
I was under the impression that after the LEON and the F3 we would try/race the EXOS... or roll with the F1 that John Vd Geest mentioned a while back.
To be honest, it kind of sucks when just "a few" get to pick what "many" (here) race...
That's why Rui's opinion (or imput), regardless of his skills, should be, as Mark pointed, very much appreciated.
The only thing he does not know is that others before him did the same.
For instance, I remember that Roy was a strong advocate of the F3 and the Leon... As I did for the Exos, John for the Hybrid F1 (I think) and so on.
If we roll with these mods again (the Leon), and we (as a racing community) shut the doors to others choices/imputs/ideas/desires (whatever you wann call it) we take the risk of pushing people away.. (in my opinion).

And Roy, with all due respect, "I guess the members have spoken by attending the series they want" ... It's a very week argument!
I use the SNS (National Healthcare System) but by doing so I don't say that I agree with it (and with all the things that happen there or with the way the the things are done)! It only says that I have no choice!
I'm not saying that the drivers who run the Leon series did not had their fun! I'm saying that all of them could have fun driving another one...

It has become the norm now that the harder/faster/more practice required of the mod, the less drivers you get, therefore the lower spec series tend to be more popular.

Stick an F1 series up by all means, but I seriously doubt that will get numbers these days, in the days of I want it all and now and easy.

You are not pushing people away by using the mentioned mods, you are, either here as a league or anywhere else for that matter, looking for stuff that appeals, and I am afraid the days of full F1 series with 100% laps and 100% damage are well gone.

Of course members will attend the series they want, time has shown which series these are likely to be. And if that is multiple series with the same car so be it, at least then they get a wealth of experience and setup knowledge.

But hey I have only run leagues for a decade I know nothing haha

The F1 1979 is not easy... full grids (maybe the money)
The Exos is a fast mod.. but not difficult (the same for the Formula Renault 3.5)
How do you know what appeals if there's no change?
I haven't run any leagues... I race what I can find!
But I do know one feeling: not to be heard, and race what a few choose.. sometimes, i get to race a thing I like... sometimes I have to wait

    But hey... you're the boss
So, choose what you like ;)

I think the opposite, if a series is popular you should keep it, maybe introduce 2 or 3 new, but keep what gives success, more people will come ;)

    My 5 cents...

Well, I did not think that option was available.
    Have fun...
I'll find some other place/series to race
    ;)

Just to remind that this are just opinions, i'm not saying we can't start new series, but what keeps people on communities usually are the popular series. Nobody said we can't change them if they start to fall back on number of racers.

Not sure if you remember, but in Race2Play FBMW for rF1 was almost guaranteed every season because of the success of the series, weren't they right on doing that?

P.S. - I respect your opinion Ricardo, but do you want to bet that a Formula Exos, after 2 or 3 races don't have more than 5 racers?

    Cheers!

Rui, of course these are just opinions.. and i gave mine.
I remember that time at r2p, there were some series like that.
Another, if you remember, one was the skoda.. and the enduracers, formula ford, and so on.
And that is basically my point: they rotated!!!!
If you have 5 series ... everyone (at a giving time) has a choice (FWD, RWD, FAST CARS, SLOW CARS, HARD RACES, SOFT RACES).
If you have only 2 (at any giving time), you must rotate! You can't go with the same one all the time (FWD CARS, for example) because you won't "acomodate" everyone.

I ran FBMW solidly for three years on a Tuesday night. No rotation there but because R2P had so much choice and so many slots then that and Skoda etc could co exist easily.

We are not at that level yet imho.

That's precisely whay i suggested to create more events with Assetto Corsa, stick with those popular good ones and create 2 or 3 extra ;)

Those who volunteer their time to be administrators have the most influence when it comes to selecting cars and tracks. Without their time and talents there would be no SRO. We have several new series in the works featuring new cars. I also think we should run popular series frequently. R2P was successful at that. But obviously we are not at the level that R2P was. Maybe one of R2Ps problems was too many series and not enough drivers willing to pay for racing ?? We certanly don't want to repeat their mistakes.

We have the Group C/Flat 6 multiclass series in the works. After the test race, which you were a part of Ricardo, it was discovered that our software could not handle multiple mods in a series. We are currently changing the software and expect to be running soon. SRO will soon have a racing platform that will support multiple sims that can use multiple car mods per series. And all the data goes into one central statistical database. I'm not sure if the late great R2P could do that. Good things are coming. We are just experience small growing pains at the moment :)

We had the BTTC for AC, and than the Leon.. and now the Leon again.
I find this lack of diversity strange.. when comparing to other sims.

Not complaining.. one has lots of choices here at SRO
