Hi all, Welcome to Round 1 of the TNC Indycar 2014 Series.

I am delighted to bring my racing events to SRO, having run series previously for many years at Race2Play.

So as most of you who have raced with me before will know, play fair and we will have a great series.

All SRO Rules are in play so please bear that mind and ensure you and all other competitors have an enjoyable event.

    Good luck all!

So not a track used in real life, but a nice wide open place to start the series off.

Ok nice to see a few new faces appearing. Welcome all.

Please remember you can either sign up for the series as a whole, or for individual events if that suits you.

No problem if you sign up for a series but cannot make the odd one, just keep us informed!

Looking forward to this league. Looks like a great bunch. I have another guy who wants in. We have both raced in dozens of leagues, but sadly that doesn't mean we are fast. Safe yes, fast, eh... :-/

Nick, i have big troubles understanding this car. Tyrewear is a big problem. Can you or someone post a base setup from where i/we can get a decent feel?

Afraid I have not found a setup as yet, so gonna jump on track shortly and have a play.

Certainly before the DX11 thing, these cars had to be handled gently or you did burn up the tires, so will see how this version performs.

Well I'll give this a shot, I'm a bit busy with liveries at the moment but I'll try my best.

I may dust off the car I used for the Indycar league on RaceDepartment, I'll change the logos of course! :)

Interesting idea with Daytona Road Course, are we going to take the slightly less risky option of rolling starts for all the races or just the ovals?

Rolling starts for all races in this series in the hope it reduces T1 accidents.

If it doesn't I have just ordered a ton of bricks to come down on the first lap heroes...

Can anyone provide me with a nice hi-res version of the Simracingonline logo? Or can someone tell me what typeface that is?

    Thanks :)

OK folks the server is now up and running.

Remember when you enter the server that you have to go into the "Tuning" to pick your preferred package.

Either the Chevy or Honda chassis under "Class Package", same again for Engine choice.

There is a Model type, where you want to be picking "Road" for all except Indy in the final event.

Wheelbase, recommended for Road is 120, oval is 119. I guess 121 and 118 are more extreme Road and Oval options, but unfortunately looking around for information not been able to find much on these settings.

Finally your Steering Method, dependant upon your wheel.

If anyone has more info then great.

Ok guys server is up so practice time for Saturday is upon us.

We have a rolling start controlled within the game, so you will set off from grid positions maintaining your place around the track giving safe distance to cars around. As we come to the start line to sim itself will tell us when we have gone green. This does mean we will be arriving into T1 pretty quickly, but as ever, please remember 75 minute races cannot be won at T1, they can only be lost, so please respect yourself and eachother by trying to avoid any early incidents.

Tire wear for this event is set at x2, so I am imagining pit stops will be required, have to say I have not calculated max fuel yet but should add some strategy in there.

All SRO Rules are in place so please take your time to understand them. Especially in the bus stop chicane on the back straight, where two wheels should be on the black stuff at all times through that section. Obviously the odd "off" may occur, but as long as this is not consistently done then fine. Who knows who we will look at....

Good luck all, going on track myself shortly for first proper session.

Any questions please ask now, not 1 minute before qual!!

    Nick

    Is the safety car activated?

  17. Nick Phillips

    Nick Phillips Pro Driver

No there is no yellow flag period / safety car activated.

Thanks for bringing it up though might be worth a try in one or two rounds. Certainly was planning it for Indy anyway.

2х tires is very tricky :-\ Do we need use both compounds during the race?

  19. Nick Phillips

    Nick Phillips Pro Driver

No need to use both tire types.

Thank God! Those Alternates wear down so quickly. With my testing, the Primary will be low on health when coming up to the fuel window, so estimating two pitstops for full fuel and primary tires.
