I should be up for the first race at least. I know Donington, it's a fun track and normally, I don't know for this car, just after the first right curve, there's a fast left curve that descends a lot. With some cars, going flat down on the accelerator in this left descending curve provokes the car to lose complete control. Maybe with this car it wouldn't happen but it's better to stay alert. Highlands, I don't know it, maybe it's in Scotland. Magioni, same thing, maybe in Italy. I heard about Poznan but never drove there. I guess it's in Poland. Imola... Who doesn't know Imola and Zolder, maybe in Austria or Germany I don't know. Keep in mind that the Lotus Evora GTC is driven, ideally, with an H-pattern shifter. It's not sequential, so changing gears for those who own a three pedals set for the clutch should be smooth, unless you're fighting like hell but avoid breaking up your gearbox in Assetto Corsa. Is a pit stop mandatory for refueling and changing tyres or can we drive for 1 hour without any pit stop? Good luck to you all.
Zolder is in Belgium. Its a fairly well known track that was used for Formula 1 in the past. Over the last 5 years it has been gaining popularity again with races of the WTCC and Renault series. Its an FIA approved track BTW, when a car doesn't have a sequential gearbox one doesn't need to use the clutch. Just throttle blip while shifting gear Regretfully I can't race on sundays for the next 14 weeks due to a commitment to another series
Tor Poznan is indeed in Poland and its a little gem. Ever since the track got made for AC it has gotten on my favourites list. It has a good mix of corners and a long straight that's good for slipstreaming. Anyone who hasn't driven this one is missing out.
The only way I see for changing gears without the clutch pedal is when the auto clutch is on. If you set it off, the car will stop after 3 corners
ALL our races at SRO are set to allow Auto-clutch, so I'm not sure where you are coming from Frederic?
I come from Mars, Ken, I'm an alien. Sincerely speaking, I prefer not using auto-clutch but for me personally. Everyone does as they wish for, that is they can use auto-clutch but I will use manual clutch because I enjoy full realism even if it's more difficult.
Using a manual clutch adds to the realisme, that's true. But mostly I only use the clutch at the starts. Once the car is moving the clutch is no longer needed for shifting gear. There are however situations where using the clutch can make you faster.
Faster without manual clutch or slower... It depends I guess it's mostly the same but as you say it's for the sake of realism. I can tell you that when I failed the last car license exam, I was very comfortable with the clutch and changing gears manually thanks to manual clutch in Assetto Corsa. By the way, thank god I failed it, otherwise I would have bought a car and paid an insurance which is really, really expensive these days. With the environmental policies nowadays, I agree that new cars are for rich people also because of the fuel price. I live in Paris in France so having a car is mostly useless. But anyway, in simulators like Assetto Corsa, we can be some sort of real life cars testing drivers.
Sorry by the way this Lotus is sequential, I believed it was H-pattern. I noticed that with default setup, if you lift and coast in the corners, the car spins. Apparently, always holding on the brakes while taking the corner is needed then immediately accelerate.
I will be hopefully racing at Poznan. I was wondering do the cars in Assetto rely heavily on set up as they used to in GTL. If so can some one give me a half decent one so I'm not lapped to many times?
Regarding setup Mark, it's an interesting point you raise. Developing a setup that helps you to drive quicker is clearly worthwhile, but equally I've tried setups from guys who are much quicker than me and I've found them undriveable, so there's a middle ground to be found I think. I think most of the regular racers here at SRO, and elsewhere for that matter, would consider that some setup changes are needed to help you get the best out of any of the new Sims, including AC. Whether or not they "rely heavily on setup" is a matter of opinion I think. I've encountered guys who can drive anything, anywhere, using default setup, and they wipe the floor with everyone else so it's not all about setup obviously. The AC Lotus Evora GTC cars are great fun to drive and IMO you can feel the weight transfer and grip of the tyres really well, so it shouldn't be too hard to tweak the default setup to something that suits your driving style. Of course, sometimes you have to change your style to suit a particular car, so adaptability is key to getting the most out of them. PM me your email address and I'll send you a setup I used in the first two races of this series
The Admin Team at SRO are hoping that with the information collected from the current Polls, and possibly a couple more to be setup soon, will provide some good inputs on new series for the future, especially regards to the most popular day, time, sim/mod combinations which may attract more entries.
