Hi all, I have not been around on rF2 for the last couple of weeks, I have encountered a really strange irritating problem. I can only join a Server (any server) when no other drivers are on the server, whenever there are drivers on a server, I try to join, (I download the respective mods etc first) the driver names load and then before my name loads I immediately get "Connection Lost" in the chat. This problem started about 3 weeks ago, since then I have been trying to figure out why - no success. NB:I thought this was sorted about a week ago.I changed my network settings to 510kbps up and 1.00mb down,it worked for a few days but then no joy. (I have uninstalled & reinstalled rF2.) Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thank You, Bret
Hi Ken, I only have rF2, I can connect & join to any server providing nobody is on it. Its the time when the server has 1 or more drivers I get connection lost. Regards, Bret
Do you have windows 10? If so, Have you updated to dx11? if yes, do you still have the Steam Plugin enabled? It must be enabled... What kind on internet do you have? Is it adsl? cable? fiber? What max speed does it handle? If it's a good internet, your network settings are too low Try going with 4/1 (on the above list, and see what happens) Due to the many questions and the fact that users appear not to adjust settings - here is a quick guide - which SHOULD be followed. Internet connection / Recommended network settings 1/512: Downstream: 1 mbps / Upstream: 512 kbps 2/512: Downstream: 2 mbps / Upstream: 512 kbps 4/1: Downstream: 4 mbps / Upstream: 1 mbps 10/1: Downstream: 10 mbps / Upstream: 1 mbps 20/2: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 2 mbps 20/20: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 20 mbps 50/50: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 20 mbps 100/100: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 20 mbps 300/300: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 20 mbps 500/500: Downstream: 20 mbps / Upstream: 20 mbps You should NOT go below 512 - if you dont have the connection, please do not race in an international league - and there is no need to go past the 20 mbps.
Thank you for your comments Paulo. Just for your info...I am not a really clever guy once it comes to this stuff...but I am trying to be accurate with my reply Paulo wrote: Do you have windows 10? Still no success unfortunately. Tried setting my downstream to 4Mbps & Upstream to 1Mbps. I'm wondering if it is a DX11 issue, (just clutching at straws atm), should I opt into the DX11 Beta? Regards, Bret
Well, that's strange. Go go steam. right click on rfactor2, choose properties Go to betas tab ans see if you have the latest build installed (1110) If yes, go to local files tab and choose (check file integrety) NOTE: tabs maybe different, mine is in portuguese
Bret, i had the same thing a while ago. I found somewhere a post that mentioned to disable all of the third party plugins. The way to disable them is : SteamLibrary , steamapps, common, rFactor2, Userdata, player, CustomPluginVariables. Make a backup of that file!!!! Open the original file with Notepad and look for the plugins you have installed. Set the plugins where it says "Enabled":1 to "Enabled":0 and save the file. Good luck, it worked for me
Thanks Roel, I'll try that when I get home later today. Lol...been pulling my hair trying to identify what the problem is, as you well know its so frustrating and annoying when stuff like this happens. Will let you know. If it works I will be so happy. Regards, Bret
Thank you so much Roel...PROBLEM SOLVED......Likewise thanks to Paulo & Ken for your comments and assistance. I disabled the pluggins as you said. Regards, Bret
It would be useful to know, for future reference, what Plugins you had installed Brett and also which one's were causing the problem. After you have tested that further, please let us know.
It is not dependend on what plugins strangly enough. I was under the impression also first, but nor the DAM or Motec caused it. It works like some kind of reset. I am surely no expert on the matter, but very happy to be helpfull. Race on my friends.
At the moment the only third party plugin I have enabled is the SRT Adapter (This is a anti cheat app) The following plugins I have disabled: SteamPlugin.dll TrackIR_rF2_Plugin.dll rFactor2SharedMemoryMapPlugin64.dll I don't know what the 3 plugins above do tbh but I am still able to join server even though I disabled them, ironically, I don't consider them as a 3rd party plugins as they are part of the game? Regards, Bret
TrackIR is a headtracking link, sharedMemory gives info to for example Simhub or other displaysoftware that shows revs, speed, trackposition etc. Steamplugin, not sure how that works.
TrackIR and STEAMplugin dll's are default. I don't have the sharedmemory plugin in my rF2, so maybe it was that one causing the problem.
