We will race in daylight and dry / wet conditions. It won't be 100% wet. We will have dry and wet weather rotating. It may start wet, it may start dry ... who knows :D

Tire strategie will play a BIG part in the race. Do you dare to stay out on dry tires when it starts raining and hope it will be dry soon, or do you come straight in to
take wet weather tires ...? And how long will you stay on wets when it starts to dry out again? We will all have some big decisions to make in the race ...

The rain is already implemented on the practise server.

Just did a few laps. Started in the dry and eventually it started raining. And man !! ... the spray that comes of those rear tires ...

    Just a headsup:

The P2 and GTE have an "Aero Package". You can find it when selecting your car under "Tuning". For High speed tracks like Le Mans a "Low drag" package is available.

Why did they do 3d trees on Mulsanne straight? Ugh, fps are dieing on Mulsanne down to 40s (i have adaptive vsync on). Even turned off AA and it's still bad. It's like a thousand trees trying to cast shadows or something on Mulsanne just slams the performance.

Performance is really good for me on this track, but I have shadows off and track details on low. I am using VR tho.

Some of the 4 GTE redlights on the signuplist might consider joining the P2 class. P2 has no red lights right now. The class is full and you'll be a red light there, but you'll have more change of getting in.

When I was testing/configuring the weather settings online yesterday and it was raining, I didn't detect any adverse FPS or stuttering issues Jerry and I don't have a current high-spec PC by any means. Was it just the FPS numbers that you noticed or actual degradation in GFX performance that was obvious?

Ken, probably because I'm running multiview with 3 screens. 3*1920X1080. So every tree+shadow is drawn 3 times by the GPU as i drive down Mulsanne.
It's just the sudden drop from 60 (vsync) down to 40s that it is very noticeable. So its not stuttering in the traditional sense. I think it's still driveable, just not very nice looking and kind of breaks my immersion and i lose concentration.
I'm using adaptive vsync in nvidia control panel, so it's supposed to "remove" the vsync frame limit and allow fps to go up above 60 and allow tearing when it notices FPS drop below 60. So i was surprised to see it struggle in the 40s in that section. It's very noticeable coming out of the first chicane, it's like all of a sudden it hits a wall of 3d objects/shadows and it can't release the vsync limiter in time.

I think it means i need to ditch the gtx970 when the gen nvidia cards comes out. It also means rfactor 2 is just shit when it comes to graphical efficiency. Haven't seen a dx11 game this poorly optimized from a graphics stand point. I shouldn't be surprised though, it took them like 5 years to finally get in game AA to work correctly. Can't imagine if GTA5 ran the way rfactor 2 does, people would be screaming bloody murder.

Track details on low here as well John, but i find it hard to drive with no shadows. Cars look like they are floating in mid air and i have trouble judging distances. I've set the shadows to low for now to see if i can drive like that, will try also lowering track texture details setting but that shouldn't be an issue, GPU memory green bar is barely at 50%.

    Test Race Sunday september 9

    Date: sunday september 9
    Qual: 20.00 BST 25 minutes
    Race: 20.30 BST 60 minutes
    practiseserver password: https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/racing/eventinfo/632

It is not mandatory to be there, but it is highly recommended if you want to learn driving in spray and dry-wet transitions.
You might mess this one up, but you will be much better prepared for the official race.

Hey Jerry, I have a gtx970 and triple screen setup. My fps was bad until I set my resolution to 3840x800. I was on the test server last night driving in the rain and was getting 150+ fps with medium settings. Shadows were off and I was alone. I find if I set my resolution to anything higher than 3840x800 my fps drop dramatically.

Hey,John. How many cars the server is capable to run?Could be, exceptionally this race allow more entries, since the track has 56 slots...

You are right. The track can take a lot more cars, but then the surplus cars of the max. 32 car gridlist couldn't take part in the rest of the series as there is no room for them.
I took as a benchmark the track with the lowest capacity, which is COTA with 32 max cars, so all 32 drivers that are green on the gridlist can do the whole series.

I am debating with the other admins to open up the registration for what the tracks allow (to a certain maximum). Nothing final yet.
IF ... we do it like this, the first 32 drivers on the signuplist would stay as the core signups from event to event. All extra drivers would be guest drives that could move up to the first 32 if a core driver unregisters. This is just an idea I have as a service to our members. Also to make up for no-shows.

The head admin told me that the server might get unstable if we bring it close to the max. So the maximum signup will stay 19 for the GTE's and 13 for the P2's. No change.

SRO uses high performance dedicated race servers. Server performance is not the only consideration when we set the limits on the number of drivers. In order to provide the best racing experience for all members, we have to set reasonable limits. We could run as high as 42 cars but we have to remember that not all drivers have high-end equipment. Allowing the maximum number of entries could have a negative impact on some drivers who have machines not capable of efficiently handling that many cars on track. This is one of the reasons we set the limit as it is.

Tried a few laps, on the wet...and I have a lot to improve on those conditions.
No confidence at all, a lot of spins. Managed to get a flow, but Im sure Im dead slow.
Also I didnt managed to get transitions from wet/dry...so Im very much on the dark on this one.
Will try to make the Test Race.
