To be honest I find this rain a bit of a gimmick, but I guess we gonna have to do it anyway...

With the weather rotating in the 60 minutes test race, there won't be much change of it drying out. We'll see those effects better in the 2,4 hour race.

I urge you guys not to use wet/rain conditions ... one does not need that to have fun, on one side, and with rain and with more than 20 drivers on track, and being le mans a big track, for the other,... there will be (for some of us) some real graphic issues (i know i will since i use triples). Taking away things such as shadow levels for compensate the rain makes the track, and the overall driving experience very poor.

    Thank you

Yes, i bet that it would give mew more resolution.. but it's not an option for me
Of course I'll try to run this test race ....but i might have to sit down for this one (or try it with just one monitor)

Let me first say I have no problem racing in rain and so far, with the AI i'm having no issues in VR with fps. Sunday will be the real test though. Saying that, I do think the rain is a bit much so early in the season. We had alot of accidents and offs in race one at a track everyone knows in the dry. Now we will have the same guys who are still new to each other having to deal with rain and changing conditions. If race one would of been close racing with little errors than I would say all in on some rain to mix it up and separate the men from the boys but feels a little premature and most of these rain races end up disasters that lead to guys losing interest. I'm just saying this for the better of the group as we know we will have some fun in the sun but not so sure when not only does the rain provide challenges but some of guys hardware also will struggle (unless the fix works for everyone). I love endurance racing and all the elements including weather that go with it but keeping the interest and fun factor up while we all get up to a comfort level with each other on the track should be more important right now. Just my thoughts, but I'm 100% good to go with rain also. Maybe think it over and after Sunday's practice race we can see if any issues came up and what guys are gonna do before making a final call?

90 min races are basically sprint races already, tire and fuel strategy doesn't even come into play. Most races are basically hot lap competitions.
Adding a little rain never hurt anyone ... :p

A little Shirley Manson to set the mood (dug this out of my archives):

Ah, Pre R2P - where I learned how to drive and setup a car from some of the best in the business. It's crazy how many bloody aliens Tim managed to attract to his tiny little corner of the internet. Tim, Todd, Conor, Barry Hedrick, Enis Dauti, Pete Bunce, Sam Krueger (its Sam in the gray GTNDC Lambo in the video above where he's hanging his ass out at full tilt in the rain. That Finn was a bloody magician in the rain). Just a few of the names that used to lap me with frequency back in those day. :D

PS: I find it extremely sad and hilarious at the same time that a video of GTR1 from 2005 doesn't look that much worse than the graphics in rF2 in 2018 ....

We have to realize that when a series like this is being organized, people will always have different opinions of how it should be.
When you go left, someone will say "why didn't you go right?" And then when you go right, someone else will say "why didn't you go left?"
It's just what happens when a group of people comes together doing the same thing. You will never get all the people on the same page.
A lot of drivers will be excited over the prospect of driving Le Mans in the rain. And then there will be drivers that have second thoughts about it for whatever reason.

The rain for Le Mans has been on the schedule for a long time now, and I can imagine that drivers have signed up for Le Mans because of the rain.
I have not heard any critic about it before and it would not be correct to change the weather now with only a few days to go.
So ... buckle up guys and be sure to have your windows up

i wasn't criticizing.. was just expressing some concerns
    the abs was changed
    spa track was change
poll was made to see if drivers get to choose different cars

i don't see the rain issue has being different

but i do agree with lance's view on this
    lets wait until sunday :)

Yes, if the rain doesn't impose any "technical" concerns, we will keep the rain in.

It's a 144 min race but I know what you mean about the 90 min races. If no technical issues arise for guys then shouldn't be a issue. I haven't had any probs in rain with fps or lag but need to check with a big lobby.

PS: I had three races today at track. Two 20 lappers and a 30 with 12 entries on track . We started two hours early and took no breaks to beat the rain that came 15 mins after we stopped. No one wants rain at track but that's a whole different story from Sims because you don't have to worry about the repair bill.

Well that test race was not good for me.
For some reason my rear tyres started to overheat real bad after 2 laps, when it was still wet actually.
I spun out twice because suddenly the rears were up to 150°C when I went into a corner... very strange.
Then I kind of lost motivation and made more stupid mistakes by not paying attention, went to switch to mediums at half time because the sky was blue and the wets were not working anymore.
Also I could not see the spray on my rear view mirror so I never knew if the part of the track is actually still wet...
This was also not good with the mediums, going into a part of the track and not really knowing if it is still wet is well.. dangerous :D
I got two cut track warnings in T2 because of this. I could not stop the car and went straight through the gravel pit and got two warnings. Then I left the server.
Need to fix the problem with the rear view mirror and figure out why the rears overheated to much during the race, it was fine in practice & qualy so that's what confused me so much.

Apologies to John for taking him out at Indy. I got on the inside and tried to move back out into the driving line but my car would not do it and my brakes would not stop me in time. Very dumb on my part. I learned a lot in that race and glad it was just practice. I got a stop and go penalty with no warning for cutting the first chicane. I started on slicks which worked well except in braking zones. They started to come in good before I finally lost it at the Dunlop chicane and hit the wall. Game over. :)

Apologies for not attending this one as I was out with some friends. Although I looked at the live timing and see you had a reasonable turn out which is great to see.

Will be trying to practice as much as I can up to this one. Even if my pace is not great. A long race and patience can reap a nice result.

That sucks John . I could tell the rear was real lose for you. Very strange they got so high in temp, like they were on dry track.
