if you have a team (real or fictional), or logo, or "sponsors", or even just some favorite colors, I could whip something up for race 2.

or I could do a color swap on one we already have in about 10 minutes :D

Hi all. A friend of mine is trying to get into tonight's race with us but he needs his account activated so he can register. His name is James Bird.

    Thanks in advance.

    RACE 1 RECAP (Pasha)

What an incredible start to the season! I might not have done as well as I'd hoped, but it was a heck of a lot of fun.

    acs 2018-09-29 17-14-49-26.png

When the lights went out I got a huge jump on Rob who was in front of me, and had to check up to not hit him. That put me toward the back as Norman took advantage through the first few corners. I was hoping to take advantage of some kind of lap 1 mishap but everyone made a clean getaway and I settled in to play catch-up. It's a good thing Rob's custom FKR livery turned out so nice, because I ended up staring at it for over half the race. :p
I had been lapping consistently in the 1:32s throughout practice, but couldn't crack 1:33 in the race. My only hope was to keep my race clean and let my pink fuzzy slippers would let me pass some folks in the pits. There were only two flaws in this plan. First, I kept making silly mistakes and sliding into the sand. Second, everyone around me also seemed to be on a no-stop strategy, and I wasn't staying with them.

    acs 2018-09-29 17-18-14-48.png

Alex got an easy pass on me on lap 3 when I slid wide trying to catch Rob. I managed to make up a bit of that when they started battling each other, but then Alex made the pass in turn 3 and that was it. Rob (and just about everyone else) had a better line through the Corkscrew and kept me consistently at bay.

    acs 2018-09-29 17-20-18-15.png

I saw Pieter go off on lap 5 and drop out; that was unfortunate. Better luck next time, sir! As if in sympathy, I smashed the same sausage kerb on lap 6.

By lap 8 it became clear that Rob had the pace and consistency to hold me off indefinitely, so I settled into just pacing and chasing, while making sure to keep up my fuel usage. At the start of lap 12 we started catching Flaviu and I had another glimmer of hope; if they started battling maybe I could catch up. Silly me — they were having such a great battle, I got so busy playing "excited spectator" that I slid off the track on lap 14 watching them! :D

    acs 2018-09-29 17-22-56-77.png

I did manage to keep them in sight somehow and it seemed maybe I could catch them. Then on lap 17, Dzintars had pitted and was catching us. Of course I bobbled again, right in front of him — I'm really glad I didn't take him out — and he shot ahead to make it a three-way battle. Rob made a brilliant pass on Flaviu at the end of lap 17, and on lap 18 Dzintars passed him as well to become the middle of the three-car sandwich. Flaviu became my new chase target as Rob seemed to have the fire lit under him seeing a suddenly-much-faster Zerobandwidth Autosports car in his mirrors. ;)

    Screenshot_seat_leon_eurocup_ks_laguna_seca_29-9-118-17-28-1.jpg

Then, on lap 19, disaster in front of me; Rob and Dzintars's battle ended in sandy tears as they came together through Rainey. I ducked by on the inside as Dzintars made his way to the pits to self-impose a drive-through. I felt super bad for both of them but that was a classy move on his part to concede the position. Dzintars, if you'd like to join my team on purpose, I'd be happy to give you a team livery. Maybe color-swapped, though, just to stop distracting me... :D

So at the start of lap 20 the chase was on with Flaviu in front of me and Rob intent on catching me up. I needed to keep both my times and fuel numbers more consistent but I still had to press to try to get around Flaviu and keep the position. Over the next couple of laps it looked like Flaviu was having problems with his tires...? I was barely managing to stay with him in sectors 1 and 2 but was rolling right up to his bumper in sector 3, and actually had to smash the brakes to keep from knocking into him at the Corkscrew and again at Turn 11. It was actually turning into a really fun and exciting battle, and when I noticed Rob fall off behind me on the timing, I started going all-in for it.

Then by lap 23, there he was again — my much-faster doppelganger Dzintars had miraculously caught up to us again. Flaviu bobbled again at the end of that lap and put us both in his clutches. At turn 4 I just let Dzintars through knowing he'd be faster than me and maybe pressure Flaviu into a mistake. Instead he just blew by us both and my battle with Flaviu was back on, one position down! :D

    Screenshot_seat_leon_eurocup_ks_laguna_seca_29-9-118-17-30-24.jpg

At the end of lap 25 I was struggling to think of a way to take the place when suddenly Flaviu dove into the pits for a splash! What luck! At least my no-stop strategy worked for one position. :D From there I just had to try to stay on the black stuff and not bin it for 6th. I had my share of little mistakes in the closing laps but managed to bring it home with Roel barely in sight ahead and Roy doing his best to try to lap me before the checkered.

All in all I could have done better (like, could have maintained my second-faster practice pace in the race) but also could have done a lot worse. It was every bit as fun as I had hoped for and I'm really looking forward to my first full series here. Great job by everyone this first time out!

Ok, the racer rapport like I tend to do.

First race of the SEAT Leon Series 3. There were some new names registered for this one so I was not sure what to expect.

The server had been up all week and a good few people took advantage of that. Only the times I saw had me wondering. Roel had set a descent time giving me some reference on what I had to do. First practise saw me going 0.1 sec faster on a full fueltank. Then Friday night I figured I would put in a few more laps because I was really thinking everyone was sandbaggin’. Did a 1.29.6 hoping it would wake people up. And it did.

Then I saw that Sean, and Paul couldn’t make it for this one. Seeing Alex on Steam I tought I’d remind him of the race tonight. He in turn invited a mate of his. Nice, 2 extra cars.

    Qualifying

During the last free practise Dzintars (another newcomer) showed he had good speed. Alex had some descent laptimes too. This didn’t worry me to much because I knew I could be faster. But then quali started and I was unable to get a good lap in. I didn’t think 1.29.709 was good enough for pole. To my amazement it was. Weird, but I’ll take it.

    Race

Starting on pole has an advantage. You already have a 5 meter lead  The light went on, the light went off GO GO GO!

I had a very good start; 2nd and 3rd sort off seemed to have missed it by a split second giving me a clean run into the first corner. Not having to go defensive on the first few corners is a distinct advantage. I could take it easy on the first lap and get used to the extra weight of the full fuel tank. I could also see 3 cars fighting for 2nd place. This made them lose a bit of time giving me a healthy lead. Not at all what I had expected. Ah well, head down, put some good laps in and see what happens. After a few position changes for 2nd It appeared Dzintars had a good grip on 2nd. Now it was up to him to close the gap to 1st. All I had to do was keep on doing what I was doing. Just maintain the gap as it was. Then on lap 16 I saw him going for the pit. From then on I slowed the pace down, but that made me lose concentration. Anyway, long story short. I won the race. But behind me things did not seem that simple. 3 newcomers to the series in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. WOW!

Race result, 1st Roy Cop, 2nd Alex Bonner, 3rd James Bird

I have to say that if this race is a benchmark for the rest of the series, it is going to be a great one!

Thanks to all taking part. On to the next one.

    Wow, that's amazing!
If you have any pictures of your real race cars that you'd like to see transformed into a SEAT, I'd be thrilled to give it a try.

Beautiful reviews @Pasha Paterson and @Roy Cop. It was a pleasure to read.
Also was a pleasure to ride in this first race from the series.
Unfortunately I didn't practice enough, just few laps, before this race, and I was very surprised by the fuel consumption . I had two moments in race when I lost my focus thinking at this and to what I have to do . I strongly believe I could make it to the checkered flag, but .... NO. I was 2 l short .
And I really had trouble to find the line in the Corkscrew.
Was very strange there. I really missed the breaking point by ... miles .
Long story short, it was a nice race with some good fights and some bad mistakes -pure and good RACING :D

Thanks, that would be very nice, I have one skin from Seat TCR. Can You adapt to Eurocup?

Most of the skin transfers easily, but the aero bits at the back are shaped differently, so you can't just use it as-is. I also started with the TCR car first, and tried at first to use the same files, but they don't line up well in places, and the rear end gets totally jumbled.

But yes, given the original TCR skin sources (with the wireframe layers still available, decals as separate assets, etc) it should be easier to construct a similar skin for this car.
