Well done everyone ! Great race , very intense ! I hit the wall on lap 1 and again on the last lap with a few rail scrubs in-between ! :D
Even though I had some practice it was not enough but im glad I got the laps in that I did ! I was figuring it out as we went & getting PB's along the way starting to come to terms with the car , I'm really enjoying the eagle after today :). My first lap crash did not do any steering damage , it was the last lap fence contact that bent my steering to about 30* right rudder ..lol .. I was hanging on to get the car around & gave up a spot to team mate Norman ! :rolleyes:o_O:D so that made it a little les painful lol ..
Great driving by all & see you at Kyalami !!

The 1960s and '70s are my favourite motorsport decades so I knew I would join this series as soon as John announced it. This first round lived up to every expectation: amazing machinery, challenging track, big grid. Practice had taught me that the slightest mistake would be very costly and so I approached this event wondering if I would see the chequered flag. Amazingly not only did I get to the end but so did everyone who made the start ... WELL DONE ALL DRIVERS :). When the race started I found myself following my teammate Mark Jones and, knowing that Mark is faster than me, I settled down to watch his lines. The slightest of mistakes saw Mark drift wide on a fast corner and I was able to make a pass. From that point I had a fairly lonely race in P7 as I watched Phil steadily open a gap ahead and I was opening a gap to the car behind. The major challenge was then to keep on the black stuff and avoid grass/fences/houses/armco ... easier said than done. My only "moment" came towards the end of the race when Rob kept wide on a corner exit to allow me to pass and I drifted wide and tagged the back of his car ... my apologies for that. Fortunately no damaged ensued and I was able to get that P7 finish ... a very satisfying result :). Congratulations to the podium guys; amazing pace and consistency by Jukka (as usual :)).
Immediately after the race I couldn't resist watching the recording of the broadcast. Outstanding commentary ... lots of very interesting historical snippets interspersed among the live action ... great job, Caitlin . Thank you SRO for a marvellous evening's entertainment :)

Good review Bill. Let's hope we can get a full 25 car grid for Kyalami. Actually, I was expecting a full grid at Highlands with so many redlights, but you never can tell, can you :).
Now that the no-shows are out, we should be left with a group of fully committed guys.

The reason that I take the no-shows out is because I don't work with ghost signup lists, and I also feel that the members that do want to race (and are racing) have a right to know what to expect in turn-outs for an event. Too many times there is a big list and only half show up. With the GEAR series, what you see is what you get, or it will be adjusted for the next round :)

Just watched the broadcast. Exelent work Caitlin. Thanks for your kind words on 47:47 :) And thanks Laurent, Yusuf and Bill for congrats :) And congrats for Laurent and Phil for podium and everybody for surviving :)

This really is my favourite car like Laurent said and favourite sim and it´s blast to drive with it :) Tried to catch those Eagles when practising that were dominating fastest laps and just couple nights before race realized non of them will be racing. But Laurent had so much speed I think I really needed all that practice. I usually need lot of practise to be fast, unlike Henri whom are fast on lap 3 :) (matched my time on lotus 49 on lap 3 that I managed to get on lap 100+ :D). Shame he could not make it yesterday. Had good start and no drama during race but Laurent kept me honest all race long so could not take it too easy or afford any mistakes. It was really exiting lapping cars since it´s so easy to have a little wobble (specially when not in nornal line) that can end in collision and barriers and ruin both drivers race. But everything went well (thanks to all lapped drivers) and managed to keep my place. Thanks for everyone, looking forward to next round.

And couldn't get closer than 2 seconds no mater what :)
Congratulation to all drivers with special one's to podium Jukka, Laurent and Phill.
It was a good race, I tried to take it easy with the hope I will stay away of the fences. Qualy 11 finished 10 and a very nice chasing race with @Angelo dos Santos. Good driving and very consistent pace, congratulation :D.Few incidents in front of me, but managed to escape with clean face.
The commentary of the race make me (again) to watch all race, right after checkered flag. It was very good, documented and entertaining. Nice job mate.
Hope to have more time to practice for the next round. See you all @Kyalami

Grats Jukka , Laurent and Phil. Strong pace up front.

I was a bit disappointed not to reach the 21s in Q but top ten was ok for a first ever AC race. Had a good scrap in the race with a ferrari and a brabham and ufortunately I got a bit impatient and was gonna stick my nose up the inside coming up the hill in the last sector but that backfired badly so had to lock up to avoid taking the ferrari out and put myself firmly in the rails and spun as I came off said rail. Had to pit for repairs and from there it was just about getting to the finish. Good fun and a fun track to drive though. See you guys at Kyalami.
