    Welcome to San Francisco.

San Francisco was converted by Senormen to rFactor 2, and although it is a DX9 track, the quality is still pretty good on a DX11 system. The track combo with the Howston Dissenter 1974 works very well and I believe we're going to get some pretty good racing here.

The track is typically known for it's big jumps over the San Francisco crests. There are long 3 stretches with jumps.
The first straight with big crests has to be taken with care as the jumps might be too big and unsettle the car on landing.
The next 2 straights with big crests can be taken flatout as the jumps are a little smaller.

    Demo race

I was checking the track out. Are there tracklimits e.g. the cones in the corners or are the barriers going to be the tracklimits (LOL)?

The cones mark out the track limit like a white line. Staying with 2 wheels inside the track limits is acceptable. :)

Just a reminder for any new drivers .. this series features a vmod including all the tracks for the series , this was to save time and recourses on the server side , if you don't yet have all the track be prepared for a long wait time to join as the server uploads all the tracks for you .. This was a one time test to try and save valuable time on the server/workload time ..
as a bonus once downloaded the vmod will allow you to practice off line without looking for the tracks … I If you were in the last round don't delete anything !

I took a spin on the San Fransisco track and noticed that the track is "green". At Buenos Aires there was a lot of rubber on the racing line.
Is this something that varies from race to race?

Yes .. this track has no "pre set rubber" files , its old .. it also does not have a "auto save" if it did it would keep the rubber from P1 and then we would have some rubber to practice with ..
Unfortunately this is how it is with this older DX9 track .. on race day it should pass what ever rubber we ley down from P1 to Q & R ...

What you could do is run a practice session with accelerated road built up, let the AI drive it press CTRL+X and in no time the real road builts up. In no time you have a nice real road on the ideal line. You can save the real road and set it as a default real load when using scripted weather. The only thing I do not know if this is also possible when setting up a server.

Yes that would work and we have done that in the past , but with a twist , we don't have AI on our servers (its a server setting) but anyone can build a rubber file "save real road" button is in plane site ! If I remember it's a it creates.rbr file ..I forget where it stores it though  . but this file can be uploaded to the track folder on the server ..

If you like you can rename the extension DNF series.txt to rrbin for some track rubber. It is all the same for me. Track conditions are the same for everyone anyhow. The advantage is that you see braking points and raceline better and rear tyres do not heat up as much which reduces rear sliding that is all.

There have been questions asked about the cones, marking the apex and track limit.

The rule is: You can go OVER the cones but not OUTSIDE it.

Going over the cones with the car still keeps 2 wheels inside the track limits. Going outside the cones "as a rule" is cutting the track and results in a time penalty after the race.
A mistake can happen of course, just don't overdo it :)
