Great Q Did my pb with old soft tyres and took pole Even Greater R New softs and lifted one click more rear height. Maybe it worked or maybe i just found how and where to shift but my stint was very good. Some variation in laptimes but overall good. Think my last lap was 1.57.0 still. If there woudlnt have been that chicane, different story but in the end i think tyres would give nsx the win.
First of all thank you sensei Toni san Your set up Virginia was a good foundation for me, worked well with some little tweaks. But even more important was you advice how to drive the NSX. It is amazing how much better it got, after I adjusted my driving style to let the car rolling while turning. I´m still not 100% there, because in the last sector I consumed too much "tyre". That was why the gap opened massively at the end, congrats too, you were in a class of you own. Although probably Ken would have been closer, one lap more and he would got me. Overall my performance shocked my, as I saw in qual that I´m actually up compared to the pole time, I thought this must be an error. It was not, but Toni pipped in the last moment. However a NSX front row lockout, who had thought about that before? On the other hand, Paul drove a 55 in practice, unlucky for him. Race pace until my tyre dropped was quite ok, in opposite to my start. The launch was good, but the rest not. Lost the position to Paul and had massive luck after my jump into the chicane to stay in third (sorry @Csaba Lako ). It was intense as he followed my very close afterwards, until he was suddendly gone. Not sure what happened. Back then I had already closed in on Paul, who seemed to struggle with his tyres. So I though, now or never and pushed. Maybe a bit too much for my tyres, but I got by and finished second. Good day for the NSX, it seems only Jens has to join us next time, for a clean sweep. Obviously the oposition will try hard to bounce back.
Another fight from the back for me after the PC freeze I got at the chicane on the Mistral Straight on L1. Another mistake also added to the time gap I had to make up, so to eventually finish 3rd was an amazingly unexpected result. Toni had control of this race from the beginning, so I doubt I would have had any chance of challenging him for the win. Well done mate!
Qualification Not sure what the hell happened here. The car was completely different to drive from practice where I'd dipped under 1:56. To not even get under a 1:57 and qualify 3rd was very frustrating. I thought I'd not lowered the fuel level but now I come to think about it I did see the low fuel indicator come on so I can't use that excuse. Well done Toni Race If I thought qualy was just a blip then I was sadly mistaken. In a full race sim in the morning I managed 1:56's down to 1:58's. In the race the tyres fell apart after 5 laps and at the end I was doing well over 2 minute laps. What the hell!!! I simply don't understand what happened here. One of the worst race performances I've ever had compared to practice. Got to get to the bottom of these tyres if I'm to clinch this series. I think however Toni will take it in the last round that's how pessimistic I am after this, well I say performance but it wasn't even that. Well done Toni Well done Phillipp and Ken
I take it you did the race session on the server Paul? That's the only reason I can think of why it should've been so different for you.
Yeah I did it offline. Thought I had it setup the same but maybe a mistake. But in practice 10 min be bore qualy I was super quick so can't explain that difference other than my own poor driving. It happens onto the next one
