Welcome to Round 1 Buenos Aires Historic

    History

The circuit is located in a park in the southern part of the city, and is situated on flat lands surrounded by large grandstands, giving most spectators an excellent view area of the whole circuit. Some races were run without the twisty infield section, reducing lap times significantly.

The 1000 km Buenos Aires sports car event used the Autódromo as well as sections of highway situated near the track from 1954 to 1960. The 1000 km event would return again from 1970 to 1972, but using just the Autódromo section.

The 20 Formula One Argentine Grand Prix races were held in the Autódromo between 1953 and 1998. Formula One used a number of different configurations—the No.2 circuit was used from 1954–1960, the No.9 circuit was used from 1971–1973, and the very fast No.15 layout was used from 1974–1981 which added 2 long straights and a long third corner between the two straights often taken in top gear totally flat out, which provided an exciting view for spectators, especially when the cars exited the third corner often on the brink of spinning off or crashing at 305 km/h. Going through that section, the cars were flat out for 40 seconds. The Argentine Grand Prix was dropped from the 1982 calendar because of Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands and Carlos Reutemann's sudden retirement after the 1982 Brazilian Grand Prix. The twisty No.6 configuration was used from 1995–1998, but that version of the circuit was not popular with Formula One, and after the 1998 race there was no money for the race to be held and it was dropped.

Ten Argentine motorcycle Grand Prix race was held in the Autódromo between 1961 and 1999.

The Buenos Aires Grand Prix was held in the Autódromo from 1952 to 2009.

Please use track version v1.04 under the tab "Cars and track" on the event page.

This is an updated version of Buenos Aires Historic with improved road mesh.

    Server is up.

This skin pack from season 1 doesn't work anymore (maybe because they are DX9?).
I'm no expert on skin packs. Can anyone help me out to get it to work?

    https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/m23-skins-update-10-26-2018.61468/

To install : extract it to your settings folder (SteamApps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings)

(What's also weird is that S397 has taken out all the default skins (from the video in post 1), except the original McLaren one and the "Shadows".)

I thought that (SteamApps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings) was where the setups went? I'm totally confused about the skin pack. I've d/l'd it and tried it in that folder, and in SteamApps\common\rFactor2\Installed\Vehicles\McLaren_M23_1975, with no luck. I still see only one car available in the game, so I must have it wrong but not sure how.

The path is correct. Did you unpack the folder first?

Ooooh sh*t. I'm really sorry Johnny. I went to change the password and didn't look because it was so early.
I'll give you mine when we're on the server. I'm going there now.

    Reminder

    1. The race starts by formation lap and then standing start
    2. Make sure you calculate the formation lap into your fuel load.
    3. One mandatory pitstop to change all 4 tires. No pit window.

User data > player....look for 'temp garage' file. This is the last setup you were on while in game.
So in case of server crash/disconnects/etc....all is not lost. Just have to know where to find it ;)

This skin pack didn't work for me either. But I have fixed this skin pack by making changes to the .rcd file. These changes were suggested by the originator of the thread above so hopefully this doesn't break any rules. I have repackaged it and placed it on MediaFire here

    Hope this is OK :)

    Results are up.

Made a failed attempt to pass Caitlin in the beginning. Went off and hit the guardrail. Had to drive with an off-centre steering wheel after that, but it was still drivable.
Lost a bit of pace, but it was good fun throwing the car around here. Good race guys.

Hockenheim 66 will be an insane slipstreaming party, which the McLaren does very well. There will hardly be any angle on the wings. Battle of the top speeds :D
    See you all next time.

Maybe had little too low wings but dunno.
Managed to do my Q time nonstop in race and go under too so race pace was goodish. Some corners not so good and 2 where specially lost time.
I slept few seconds at pits finishing some beverages... :/

Nevertheless good result and losing to @Dino Paolini is no shame in openwheelers. Cheers buddy for win, i tried to push you abit :)

oh and did you guys see that start!! :p

That was quite fun :) Could do a nice race due to a good start and no major hickups. Still almost went south as I had a lapping incident on the last lap and a disconnect 3 minutes after finishing

That was a close race! Sadly I didn't have the race pace to back up my qualifying pace, but it was still a very clean and enjoyable race. Sorry to anyone I startled on the formation lap! XD

Funny story from practice: I joined the server having done a few laps of practice in singleplayer, and was worried to see myself several seconds off the pace. I analysed some opponents' laps and realised that I was losing most of the time on the straights, so I fiddled with the aero settings and gear ratios and suddenly found 2.9 seconds on my next run! If only I could find that amount of time more often!

All balancing between bad and worse.
I think that in rfactor 2, particularly in openwheelers, more than knowing how to drive... it is necessary to know how to make/build a good setup. Having a good setup is almost everything. So, since I don't even drive well  and I don't know how to setup :(... remains the fun to drive an interesting F1 (wondering what pilots' real-life effort wouldn't be at that time).

In the race, in addition to the lack of pace, the last 10/12 laps were really painful because my steering wheel stopped working well, and without FFB and even with the gearbox failing it was a nighmare. I don't know what happens, if it was a software problem, as it works well with other mods and never happened before.

Congs to the podium and let the 'Hockenheim madness' come... :)

I had sent my race setup to everyone while in practice session 20 minutes before qual. You might still have it in your "received" folder.
It's a pretty good baseline for other tracks.

Members that are good at making setups might consider making a good baseline setup for others that need a little help and post it here.
That way we'll have a better change to keep singups high.
Just a good stable setup (and final one you can keep to yourself :))

Here is the setup I started for Hockenheim 66:

    Hi All
Bit of a short notice return for me as I realised I had signed up for this series.
Had reinstalled my system following graphics card and ssd upgrade so had just reinstalled Rfactor2 hours before the race.
Took to the track for the first time yesterday and slowly reduced my lap time as I got to know the track although I could have used more practice time.
I used VR last night but found that I couldnt see anything in the small mirrors until any following car was right on my tail.
I got in someones way and took a nudge in the first lap. After recovering I set about chasing the cars at the back of the pack and appeared to be reeling them in slowly .
As usual I made a few mistakes and paid heavily. I carried on but ran off the track only to rejoin with a blue flag showing.
Taking my mirror problem it was just too risky as I couldnt ensure safety of cars coming up to lap me so I decided not to continue and retired.
Real life is taking priority at the moment but I enjoyed the escapism of racing last night.
    Congrats to the podium guys
    Cyas next round I hope
P.S I was sent a couple of setups last night but they didnt show in my reieved folder....any ideas?
