We had a similar problem in GT3. To be fair, if the pack followed round closely, swapping sides if necessary for the polesitter to have the inside, 4 seconds will amass from the time between each polesitter coming to the line.

I'm going to just add this as an addendum; I've been in conversation with John, and he's allowed me to make an instructional video showing how this series should start. If anyone is available tomorrow evening UK time, I'd be most appreciative of a couple of bodies to form a "pack" to live demonstrate the theory.
