Because of my lack of attention in previous races regarding the start procedure for this series, which should've been Rolling and not Standing, for consistency we will continue to run Standing starts for this event and also for the remaining races in the series.
I need to apologize to the guy I just run off on second lap, with hard tyres and full tank I should brake earlier, truly sorry for that, this time its me who deserves a penalty . This race starts bad when my PC overheat and shutdown before qualy, I need to wait a few minutes to turn it on again just in time for one lap on qualifying, that was pretty good P2 with my best time ever. Than I make a last call to switch to hard tyres as I was afraid that the softs wont last much during the race, and the car just got bad driving, I was 3 seconds off my normal pace. On the race I got a good start following the Ken lines until I got distracted with my phones disconnecting and forgot to brake on the toe of the boot , lost a couple of places but manage to continue and in the next lap, at the same corner I just brake to late and smash on someone , I stop and wait for him to pass but he lost a couple of places and probably a damage car . After that was a lonely race until the end, 3 seconds off pace with those horrible hard tires. See you guys on next one.
No problem Jose, I didnt have good race pace anyway. At Longbeach I went back to the default setup right before Q and it really worked after trying some things that just didnt work after the tires got toasty. This time I just changed the gears, but was surprised when I saw the times today in the server. So in Q I pushed the tires really hard and gained like 2 sec (I think) quicker than my bit of offline practice. How Ken kept those tires from turning into goo at that pace has got me kerfuffled Grats podium. Also thanks to the new guy who decided not to race, it looked like he didnt know the track at all / having a hard time driving with a controller.
For whatever reason I seem to be able to get decent race long pace with this sim/mod. Compare this to my disastrous AMS F3 race last night and I just don't have any answers! Pre-race practice revealed that the front tyres were going to be the weak point today, but I could still make the softs last for a 45 min race with a little care. After Gerhard and Bjorn both showed a slightly better pace in practice, I thought I would be chasing them in the race, but a good qualifying result gave me the opportunity to dictate the pace in the race, assuming a good enough start. Although Jose got a good start, I was able to keep position on the inside of T1, thanks in no small part to Jose's smart driving in leaving racing room for both of us. After that I was able to slowly pull away from Gerhard, who had inherited 2nd place, without hurting my tyres and I was able to run 1-2 secs slower than practice pace and still pull a gap. I was really surprised as it doesn't happen often, to me at least , I just wish I could replicate it in all the other races I run .
Congrats to all podium players great driving all!! Messy race for me, practise was good ,qual ok did a ok time fisrt and try to push it I lost the car some 3 min before the end. Took the car to pit and then I lost my head try to get out off pit fast I didn´t push the pit speed limiter got +2 grid places and why I couldn´t have done a good qual lap anyway so stupid , after that I was off focus. Start took it so easy , and gain some position on lap two I think it was, then Itry to push harder to gain on the first 4. And in doing that lost the car in the first right hander in the wall , and steering was really bad limped a lap on to pit. So here comes the real mess, Got fuel and new tyres ok it was a long way to race end. So I thought yea thats And then I try too chase after all off you guy´s, but had the most odd behavior on the car, brake point din´t match any more couldn´t push where I was used too. Lap times just didn´t match. Took about 20 min to figure out that I got the default pit stop not my BMW one. So all my effort was in vain Thank´s to admins for all you´r effort see you in Sakitto
Jagger gaps the field with runaway win ! After holding 2nd place and keeping the pressure on Jaggers tail , Gerhard looses the rear In T1 & off he goes .. Meanwhile the battle for third between myself & Ring ... In the end it was a drag race for 2nd with Gerhard beating it out by a car length Great driving everyone ! Grats Ken & Gerhard ! Hope we can recruit a few more drivers for this series . these cars have been a blast so far with great racing ! Very Happy with a 3rd place podium finish !
Thank you for this nice event boys, i enjoyed every second. First surprise in quali, Scott and Björn not as fast as expected, but Jose in row 1. I was hoping Ken and Jose will have a little discussion in Corner 1, but they did not do me this favour J Scott next to me had a rocket start, but slowed down before we entered corner 1, thanks for that. After Jose went off, i could go Kens pace, always within one second behind him. I decided to increase the pressure on him and lost the car in C1, snap oversteer. I kept P2 but lost 10 seconds. It was clear that the race was lost and i tried to go for P2. My setup was very fast, but nervous and not comfortable to drive. (Jackie Stewart says, comfortable always means slow!!!) So the rest of the race, i tried to save my tyres and kept watching my overheating engine. Rob had once more an extreme strong finish and closed the gap, when we saw the checkered flag. Thanks for joining, see you at Suzuka. PS: I will open a new PC2 thread this weekend. Our PC2 series are very cool, we should establish a nice group of drivers for a fine new series. Hope you will be all in mates!!!!
i just cant stop the tyres from melting, even if you use little or no brake and just coast thru the turns. kudos to Ken
To be honest I'm still trying to find the right brake pressure & bias setting for this car, as they are very sensitive it seems to lock up quite easily.
