Hi, i'm Ray 61yr old Geordie from near Newcastle. I used to race on Nascar 2003 in an online league many years ago. Recently got back into PC car racing and have ac,acc, rf, rf2, pc1, pc2 f1 from 2015 upto 2020 and last night downloaded rre to try out. Tbh i don't really have a lot of hours under my belt on any of the sims at the moment as other games have been taking up all my free time so i need to get some practicing done i guess! I was wondering where is a good place to start in SRO, i see a lot of series are already started and i don't want to join a race in which my low pace (at the moment) could spoil someones race and ruin their season so what's a recommended starter series? I haven't got the experience to determine which of my racing games is the most user friendly as i suppose a lot depends on which aids are activated, but i do enjoy them all. Anyway thanks for letting me join and i hope to see you passing me sometime out on a circuit.
Hi there Ray and welcome to SRO Thank you for a very nice potted history of your interests with simulated motorsport, I'm sure many of us can associate with what you've said in accumulating these sims over the years Our series typically only use ABS, TC, Auto clutch and possibly auto-gears and do not use options such as Steering/handling/stability assists etc. However many of the series will utilise a 50% damage setting, so it's not all bad news! As to a recommended starter series, all of our series Admins will advocate and suggest you join their series, irrespective of the level of ability of members running them. We all remember where we started from and will assist, guide and help you in any way you wish to help you get enjoyment out of racing online. So all I can suggest is you try whichever sim/series you fancy and maybe try one using a sim you are most familiar with to start off. Oh and I'm just down the road from you in Leeds, so we are neighbours I suppose
Hi Ken, thanks for the info, tbh i only use the aids u mentioned so all good there, i think my best bet will be just to join some of the practice sessions for a while but not actually join the races just so i can check out my ability, as i said i have no wish to spoil anyone's race even tho it would be totally accidental. I was in Leeds last year on a pub outing from my local pub, one pub i particularly remember was called The Three Legs,,,,,,,,on a day that LUFC had won,,,,,,,what an experience. Look forward to seeing you on the tracks,,,,take care
Thanks for the welcome guys. I bought GT Legends from steam the other night as it was only around a fiver and despite it being a 2005 release it still looked fun and i could relate to the cars due to my age! Unfortunately due to incompatibility with my G29 brake pedal i have had to get a refund. So, i was gonna buy Automobilista (so i could join the F3 series ) instead, (CD key, not paying £19 when Auto 2 is only £26!) however it seems that this game also has problems with a G29 wheel, can anyone confirm this to be the case pls?
Ray I suggest you post this question in the Automobilista Forum where you should get a better response https://simracingonline.co.uk/forums/automobilista.103/
Cheers John, tbh i can get Automobilista very cheap so i'm just gonna take the chance, i've looked on Google and only see occasional posts of people having probs with the G29. Shame it wouldn't work with GT Legends but whenever i eased back on the accelerator the brake would apply! Made it a very unusual experience! The brake setting on the wheel was just overriding all inputs.
That sounds like the pedals are not identified as another device and the throttle/brake axis is being set to both. Check the control options in-game.
