    For some reason my car's livery is white when I join the server. I'm meant to have the JPS #11 livery and I've talked to John about this but we can't find a solution. I've deleted the fake #11 livery and it still doesn't work online.

    The JPS #11 works in singleplayer when I join a race so I'm not sure why this issue is happening. It's not a massive problem but I'd still like to race with the JPS livery if I can. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Looking at the skins the fake (DRM team) livery is "RC_11"
    John should be assigning the skin called "jps_11" to you.

    In server manager they're called BMW 320i Turbo DRM '80 Schnitzer which John obviously has right, your skin is the top one of the 2 and called JPS.
    If john's putting you in that then it should all be fine - for you to get a white car would suggest a typo in the entry_list.ini file if he modded it by hand (Wrong capitalisation maybe? don't know if AC cares. A common one with AC is missing the '_' and using a space, that breaks loads of stuff!).

    Your entry in the entry_list file should look like this:
    [CAR_0]
    MODEL=drm_121_3
    SKIN=jps_11
    SPECTATOR_MODE=0
    DRIVERNAME=
    TEAM=
    GUID=*your GUID*
    BALLAST=0
    RESTRICTOR=0

    White would mean you've been assigned a car you don't have a skin for, so it's like racing online without installing the skin pack everyone else has because your skin is stock - you have a pretty car and everyone else is driving a white one :D

    Mac, I have fixed the problem for you. You should have the correct skin now.

    I didn't put a wheel on this track but watching the previous vid I must say I couldn't like it, I really don't like those partly-oval tracks.. :confused:

    Did any of the Ford fellows test the new tires and how are they now ? :rolleyes:

    Matteo has the Capri happily doing an hour on the new tires :)

    As for this track - It's like they took all of the really bad bits from Rockingham and left out all of the good bits! :confused:

    Only positive is that the combination of horrible turns and big straights actually simulates a lot of the airfield tracks DRM raced at quite well.
    The M1 hates it - and looking at Filips' testing in the Lancia I think the Grp2 boys could be joining Grp1 in a massive punch up for the hour!

    As Tim pointed out, I managed to do a couple of race simulations without big issues on the same tires after the patch (thanks for looking at the temp. issue to DRM team).
    I speak for Capri tires, cause I never had some laps in the Escort. However, now the tires are fine, provided you don't force too much in the last 12 minutes or so, when the wear indicator goes red (front and rear right). Overheating factor is much more manageable now than it was before the patch. Now you can drive without being on the eggs after 25 mins, with the chance to finish the race without a pit stop, if you treat your tires properly during the race

    This is good to hear about Fords' tires update and I'm glad we're not loosing competitors in division 1 :) It should be some fun season with comparisons between cars.
    I think in division 2, the BMWs although with slight speed advantage, could have a tough time to keep the Lancias in check on this twisty slow turn circuit. You've got to keep those RPMs up all the time or it just won't go for a good enough laptime.

    The BMW's a bit heavier, and really only faster than the Lancia in a straight line. It also burns tires more quickly than the Beta Montecarlo by a decent amount. I fully expect to get annihilated this week.

    Yeah, that's a lot of weight there, and also that BMW's torque curve is really difficult to get used to. The 1978 Toyota has about the same weight and is a division 1 car. Tried the BMW again and I just couldn't possibly match Lancia's laptimes on a track like this. Even my own from the other day on the server practice lol I didn't save that replay and don't know how I made it. Left it for later but now I'm barely getting it into 1:51s with it. There's got to be something more with setting up all that weight balance, proper gears, and very precise brake usage while driving. I'm clueless. If you brake too hard, the rears will heat up and you can loose it in the next corner entry. Probably helps using lower tire pressures too, especially at the front. Even then it shouldn't be hard to run a whole race on one set of tires. Those little controlled wheelspins are fine and shouldn't overheat the tires. But it also seems with some more horsepower on the 1980 BMW doesn't take the full race distance fuel so hard. It can't run fast but it can run consistent laptimes with both lower and higher fuel loads. It's just the nature of this particular track, I think. With all the sharp twisty corners, with all the bumps, combined with understeer on these cars...

    But that little lightweight 1978 Escort is amazing here and might be the only one able to mess up the Lancias or even some division 1 cars! Just over 800 kg and a great torque range, very well balanced. Firm suspension. You don't have to worry much about RPMs in corners. But you do have to worry about how much throttle to add through the corners hahah Turns quite easy out of the box. I completely forgot how cool this car is, so I took it and ran some kind of a race stint test with endurance tires, half fuel amount and 90% turbo. Mid 1:51 laps are not hard if you took decent amount of laps here already. Theoretical laptime shows me that even getting into 50s is possible here with a good setup and driving. It can get more speed through corners than any other, it can brake late and put the power down easiest. Doesn't get behind too much in terms of acceleration and top speed against the Lancia (just about 240kmh before turn 1).

    Here's a replay of one OK lap with Escort after fiddling somewhat with gears and settings. 2nd and 3rd gears for all corners. I'm also posting setups in the setups section for both the Escort and what I came up with for the 1980 BMW earlier. BMW has got a long 1st gear for the hairpins only because I couldn't set the gears to my liking and the car wouldn't pull good enough out of them in 2nd.

    That looks so nice to drive - I think you should have a go in the Big BM just so you can commiserate with my suffering on Thursday :D

    I'll have to Goad Filip into the M1 more often - I thought that was all the speed it had to give, and then he has a go and knocks nearly 2 seconds off! :eek:
    I always find it amazing how simply knowing something can be done always lets you figure it out. Big question now is can the tires survive my new setup, or am I going to be this rounds sacrificial Capri!? :D

    I had to make my own setup still - It was the knowing that he'd done it I needed (I.E. - a kick up the arse).
    And before you ask; Yes, my setup included the kitchen sink :confused:

    *edit* I gave you a spanner, that'll help ;)

    @Tim Muttram What I'd love to see is someone showing me how to kick that 320i into 1:50s without using medium tires.

    Well, Porsche 78 and 79 setups also posted. :) I think they can be copied and used on their other variants, the 77 and 79J. Although not much has gone into making any of these. Mostly figuring out what gears to run and driving them around with little tweaks. You need a couple of laps to warm up, can't just run out lap and 1 - 2 timed laps. Forgot to save all those replays after switching cars back and forth on the server tonight... also forgot to drive my Toyota in the process.

    The M1 is stiffer and better in some ways than the 935s. Possibly a 935 killer heheh and the Carma 308 is kind of there too with its most desirable 5 gears and fine agility.

    Note the front engine positions on all other cars such as other BMWs, the Capri, the Escort and the Toyota. They're all RWD of course. But all the heavy powerful division 1 cars have most of their weight at the mid or back, where their engine is. So maybe it will help if you shift the weight constantly to the front while cornering. Can't just coast in more easily like front engine cars. So always make sure you brake in time and then add a little brake entering turns to help it if it won't go in. Adding throttle to keep the speed through and the boost on, skipping the lag as much as possible... I'm sure you can pick it up in the videos I posted earlier. Just need to know the measure. I know it's even tougher with clutch and H-shifter. And when you make sure that's as fast as it can go, take off with setup adjustments. This weight shifting will also help adding a bit of heat into front tires. And if you don't have heat there even after setup adjustments you won't be able to turn no matter what. All the same goes for Lancias even though they're lighter of course. But they all need a certain rhythm. Maybe that's only applicable for my style, can't tell.

    Anyway, this was mostly hotlapping, but there needs to be some consistency. And my guess is that the fastest division 1 cars are going to have a 1:50s pace most of the race if racing cautiously.

    I'm hoping to run a mock race this afternoon to see if the tires can cope with the new front end. I also need to work on a qualifying setup still...
    I love driving the 2 (5?) 320's so may have a go if I have time - They're very close to my track car in handling, just with more power and grip - So if I can wildly improve anything it should be them!
    The M1 is stiffer for sure - this is only an advantage on smoother tracks - there is (Or certainly was in the previous version of the mod) a distinct lack of suspension travel that gives it extreme traction problems on very bumpy surfaces (Between T1/T3 here is murder for me, I have to come heavily out of the throttle if I'm even slightly turning when I hit those bumps - my very quick go in the Toyota didn't even require lifting!).
    I think this track has underlined my statement at the beginning of the series that the M1 is massively affected by setup. All the cars are affected of course, but even a bad setup in most of the other cars is vaguely there or there abouts in my hands - when it's wrong the M1 is just WRONG :)

    I should add that the Capri's probably have more time to give - my speed graph suggests I'm now faster through the first couple of tight corners than Matteo is in his Capri! :eek:
