Round 3 Lausitzring GP - Thu Oct 29, 2020

Oh yeah, never forget about those Capris I'm really looking forward to some very competitive races further on.

It seems to me that the tires situation might be slightly better or similar to the Brands Hatch race. Minus the issue with both Fords' tire wear which has been fixed now.

Can't really tell as I don't know what was wrong with it, but the M1 was really not so good in the previous version. It certainly could be at the top 5 on the grid with Porsches and Carma 308. But there was a big steering lock in several cars and M1 also suffered it. However, the M1 has been improved in general performance with the latest patch. Whenever I took it out on track ever since, I beat my own Porsche laptimes. Might just suit me.

But then again, I didn't play with the Porsche a lot either. Did laps on various tracks but I had just one online sprint race with it quite some time ago. The Porsche is really good on these bumps. And the Toyota is very stiff with good entry but a light rear end all around. Looses traction easily. You have to be very delicate. I guess that's why the DRM guys called it Delikata hahahah I love those tricks.

 

Did that update change something else than Fords tires? Toyota has lost all traction and feels terrible now, with same setups...? In a otherhand my mate Jari (Capri) think he can do almost 60 minutes with mediums without big issues, I'm gonna be so last in this race.

 

No, the only files in it were for the Capri and Escort. Nothing went anywhere else.
When you say it's different with the same setup do you mean the same as the one you used last round?
The last 2 tracks are so different it won't swap easily - Meadowdale was flowing and fast. Lausitzitzring is basically a bunch of drag strips with heavy braking zones and tight corners - you need very different setups to maximise grip with these different layouts.

Filip - I'm more of a Porsche man - so my times might be biased - but I find the K3 ('79 and '79K) to be fastest at any track (even short track) after some tweaking. That's largely why I took the Beemer, it's fast but slow in my hands.
Or if it turns out to be the fastest then I at least have to learn how to make it fast...

 

The update was only for Fords, since there were two new data files for them only. It's the track. Very bumpy and need to know where to watch for it because of traction.

 

There's probably someone out there who is faster than both of us hahhah but no, it's not slow in your hands, I think you're doing a good job! As well as Laurent in the Porsche. Good battles.

 

I did sets for this track before update and car feld ok then, weird thing, maybe it's driver related...

 

I've got some troubles when braking in that first left corner. Will try a different brake bias. However, I was far from my best 1st intermediate by 0.265 in that lap, so probably it wasn't a good sector at all. It's difficult to put a lap together with these cars

 

You can also try increasing your coast value on the Diff, although that can make the car snappy if you come off the brakes/switch to neutral throttle % too quickly.
As the pre-load can't be set on these old cars it's a bit hit and miss to be honest! But can stabilise the car without impacting braking performance when set right.

 

Didn't have good time with this 1977 Baby Porsche. Slower than every other division 1 car here. Stiffened it up but just couldn't be happy with any of those gear sets. Here's a one lap replay.

Well, safe to say that I'm realy not looking forward to this race tomorrow. The track is really boring and the car doesn't seem to suit it but I'll still try to pull a result out with it.

 

One thing that boring tracks often have going for them is surprisingly good racing - apart from Silverstone post 1975 which is always just dreadful.

Apart from the 2 horrible tight left-handers exiting the oval here, I think the track actually presents a lot of passing opportunities. Those 2 left handers present plenty of crashing opportunities though - you'll have to really trust the person you're racing to go 2 wide into those at speed!
While working on my set up I spent some time on track with Filip, our 2 cars have some wildly different strengths and weaknesses here so there is potential for some heavy fighting through the race.

Q didnt get a lap, had over second couple times but hadnt tried those tires so overheated. last try i missed by second so little frustrated.

R was utterly stupid and silly. dont know if i even had tyrewear at all in the end. got stuck most of the time in div I train.
with kiril some action but that was that. tbh i dont think i even had tyrewear in the end... Good thing i had beverages to keep me company.
but overall, no funfactor, cant push, silly stuff...

 

Same here John my car radar dissappeared and i thought you had cleared me or wanted to wait. I am sorry as well.

 

That Turn 1 incident got a lot of people. Best part of this race.
