There is a mandatory pit stop in the series we're simulating. Look at the YouTube videos I posted in post 1.

not arguing, but i watched the Road America race and the mandatory pit stop was to change drivers. no fuel or tire change on the stop i watched. and they were required to spend a certain amount of time in the pit.

so, just saying, i think it's your intention we spend some time in the pit, so mandatory tire change, correct?

Yes as Barrett mentioned, sorry I was typing that on my phone and bad choice of words.

In the real series they have a pit stop but only as a driver change, no fuel and tyres aren't changed unless needed maybe.

I'll be changing tyres on this race though as they are destroyed after 20 minutes! lol.

I was just remarking on the comment about fuel at the pit stop, they don't have that ability in real life. It's probably not allowed partly from a safety point of view as the teams are very small and most couldn't go to the extra cost of fuel rigs, etc.

I think they follow SRO rules, so something like two minutes from the car entering the pit lane to leaving the pit lane. So it's not a stationary time, so the teams have to figure out how long they will be driving down the pit lane as well.

yeah, and you can't set fuel for a pitstop in the garage, so i wouldn't count on being able to add it in the pits during a race.

You set your fuel in the pit communicator on your wheel. Easily done. I do it while waiting on the starting line.

Ok, I’ll probably start at the back for this one.

Went to do a clean restart and Windows 10 has gone into update mode....

EDIT. Sorry I’m out. PC restarted and it’s only up to 5%. Looks like it’ll take an hour or so maybe. Very sorry.

I’ve unregistered, judging by the lap times it would have been a tough race for me anyway. I did try the setup shared on here but I could only get into the 58’s so pretty hopeless on my part. Can’t live with the car moving around so much.

Hope you all have a good race :)

Sorry for "fish-tailing" in front of you in the beginning Jos and Barrett. I pushed too hard and my rear tires overheated.

Oh sorry, I always assumed that they pitted for tires :)

Congrats Toni! Like skating on ice. Fun. Gert Jan went off on the frozen sand. Last corner backmarker went for a move and I lost it. Hit the wall hard. Thought it was Toni blocking but I believe it was just a backmarker going off track and then coming back onto the racing line from a stand still. Scary. Good racing throughout. Again, congrats to Toni for a nice drive.

I agree. That was a lot of fun. These cars are a handful. I apologize for stalling on the grid. Hope no one got rear ended behind me :) Looking forward to a series in these cars.

That was fine John. The car is really a handful. The avoiding maneuver I had to take gave @Barrett Erickson space to pass and make the battle for P4 more interesting. I was still adapting to the car and, thanks to your baseline setup, I managed to put a solid performance (far from the top three though). The only reason I managed to hold some hopes for P3 was after @Gert-Jan van Osch had his crash and damage. I wasn't expecting at all to be fighting for P3 but that was fun. I managed also to make a sensible pitstop (one very challenging thing for me normally ).
All in all, even if this type of cars are not my cup of tea (I'm more for classics ), it's true this mod is very impressive and well rounded. I think it could make for a good series.
I'll leave the link to the race once the video is cooked... :)
Congrats to @Toni Talvitie for the win and @Johnny Gutierrez and @Gert-Jan van Osch for the podiums.

It probably could, but there is not enough interest for the car. Only 12 members on the grid is too little and with the drop-off in each series we would end up with a very small grid.

But a big thanks to everybody who signed up for this test event. Very much appreciated.

A real handful is this Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo indeed, but fun to drive.
You know that I am more into classics and that anything that gives more than a few kilos of aero downforce is not my cup of tea... The race was fun. I had only had a few minutes of adaptation to the car and, thanks to John's baseline setup, I could put together a relatively solid performance.
Enjoyed the real battle for 4th, and was surprised with the chance to fight for P3 with @Gert-Jan van Osch after his accident. Massive warp btw when I suddenly appeared in front of him when chasing... Something with the netcode I guess.
Anyway, I understand John's point that there is not enough quorum for setting a series considering attendance to the test race, so it doesn't look as if I'll have the chance to improve my adaptation to the car and be in a position (perhaps) to challenge at the top... Oh well. Perhaps in the future.
It was good fun though. Enjoy!

Thanks for the video, very interesting. In practice I was braking roughly where you were but in most corners you are a gear higher than what I was trying so a really useful comparison.

Apologies about my PC issue, by the time I realised that I had clicked on "Update and Restart" it was too late! lol

Took about an hour to update so I would never have made it, thanks Microsoft... :(

Thanks, Andrew. Glad someone finds this crazy habit of mine (making YouTube videos of my races) useful from time to time.
Interesting what you say about the gearing. I always say that one of the worse of the many bad habits that I have when driving is downshifting more than I need. This car was, though, inviting me to be in higher gears and I think I did generally well during the race as I was getting used to it. I could have gone up to 5th in the Arrabbiatta section but it tended to increase speed beyond what tyres could deal with and increased the risk of centrifuging the car through the left-hand side... 4th worked well for me most of the time.

Reading this over again and, after the race yesterday, I don't think the tyres would have lasted for the entire race. Not changing tyres yesterday was not an option in my view. Any alternative views?

I ran the same tires for the whole race. John got pissy and didn't like it. I'll see you guys at somewhere's else at the track.

I spent a lot of time, but found two personal downsides to this model
    - Force feedback information with my wheel felt not in touch with the road
    - The way setup changes were made and the effects it had differed from my expectations.
