Try driving this car with the no wing configuration. I dare you ;)

With the issues we have had at the start in the first two races of this series, rather than changing the rules as such and switching to a controlled rolling start at some point after Eau Rouge, I'm inclined to instead issue a -1 lap penalty to anyone who creates a situation as we have seen before, resulting in wrecking others, pushing or punting them into spins etc.
A similar, but not exactly the same action, has also been implemented for our ACC GT3 series by fellow Admin Rob Milliken. We need to get these avoidable situations under control, as it is not acceptable to have them repeated race after race.

Could you be more specific, Ken? Do you mean substracting a lap from the total count of the driver that commits the infraction? If that's what you mean (and sorry if I'm being thick), considering the driver crashing will probably damage their car with almost not having a chance to finish the race... Do you think that will be effective enough?

I have done some racing at another site that employ an 'orange zone' for the first laps. In this zone anyone who causes a collision can expect a much heavier penalty than if they cause the same incident after the first few laps. The orange zone is well defined before the race by the admin and can be in place for just the first lap, first few laps to allow the field to spread, or even in place for the entire race. So maybe a similar scheme can be used here in all races.

Spa is fairly unique in the fact that it has those bloody hay bails. One small touch and they fly out in front of the cars behind causing mayhem. So even if the field is ultra careful there it is always going to be a high risk area.

    Yes.
    Pure speculation.
Only testing it will we find out.
-1 lap of your total is a pretty heavy penalty at Belgium 66 I would think.
I'm not changing a series start procedure partway through, so possibly it could be used in future series.
So the field needs to be ultra, ultra careful. :)

Yes Ken that's what I meant to say. It was a suggestion for future series. An 'orange zone' type system may have worked well in the DRM series we had a while ago. An idea you may want to pass up to those on high. That said you can right 1000's of rules and still people will not read them or ignore them in the heat of battle. I agree no changes should be made part way through a series to a start procedure. It's likely to cause more problems that it solves. :)

I would say we actually need to be ultra, ultra ultra, ultra careful and maybe get out the 'strong glue' and stick those hay bails down. ;)

I'm fine with your approach, Ken. Not challenging it. But I think my comment is more than just speculation. You can just check out who started and finished with the F2 to realise that it's becoming increasingly more difficult to finish the races if you hit anything as the damage tends to be far more difficult to manage. Losing wheels, not just damaging suspensions, with the F1 happens pretty quickly at these speeds.
But let's see how this approach works on Sunday. At the end of the day, if we all take it easy, we'll go through without issues no matter what system we use.

Hi Ken, is this -1L penalty applicable to Eau Rouge 1st lap or maybe 1st 3L or all around the track during the entire race?

Well, this is going to be rough.

I know it's super obvious - but this is a fairly difficult car/track combination.

As a general setup tip, I found raising my ride heights a lot helped keep the car more stable over the big bumps and compressions/decompressions in corners. Other than that and gear ratios, it seems like the stock setup is mostly fine and the circuit is so hard to drive that it doesn't really matter what you do to the setup, anyway.

Oh, also, Run the "B" variant car. only 10 KPH slower top speed than no-wings but a whole ton easier to drive. I was only getting 2:25's-2:27's on the "C" variant w/o wings but can do 3:23's on race fuel with both front and rear wings. I don't think Rear Wing + Front dive planes combination would be the way to go because the car already understeers pretty heavily with a rear wing on.

I ran a fuel calculation, too, race fuel is about 125 liters, throw 130 in to be safe. 6.62/Lap x 18 Laps @ 203 Sec (3:23's) = 119 Liters roughly. I just put some extra in for safety's sake.

Can someone please practice for me. I am to lazy to be practicing as of lately and would like for someone to practice for me. This virus has got me into zombie mode and don't feel like practicing. Any takers.

Ted, thanks for your testing. Sadly, I will probably be in the back watching the destruction as the new first lap rules takes into effect.

I know this might sound dumb, but with how many times we've run the track in this series, it really only takes 10-20 minutes of practice to readjust yourself to the new car, since the track you already know. I think it's a lot of fun.

When we got back through the 2nd time from F3->F2->F1 it'll be even easier, because you'll have setups etc. too. Don't give up, it doesn't take very much time at all! :)

Also - for anybody struggling - I know the tracks aren't exactly the same between games, and the rFactor2 versions has a ton more elevation change and differences to the terrain - but my VR Track guide should help you figure out where most of the lines are, and how to get around the track without needing to spend so much time on trial-and-error for every corner - the non-winged 1967 cars in Assetto have almost identical lines and braking points to the Eve F1B, I find.:

My point was that somebody causing a problem doesn't necessarily receive the damage. Of course if they do actually crash with these cars at this track then that is highly unlikely.

Yes just for the start. Normal penalties will apply if necessary for the rest of the race.

Well, I don't really have much to say.

Qualified bad, was slow in the race, crashed myself out of the lead, got everything wrong. I hope somebody drops a boulder on my skull.
