I don't think you are at the back of the pack. We are all so close together that it only takes 1 mistake to drop you a place or two. And then it's quite hard to overtake again as we are so equal on pace.

I was going to write to that effect, John got ahead though. When I entered practice before the race, you were doing mid 12's when I was struggling to find the pace for high 13's... We are not many running this series (shame because it's a great combination of car and tracks) but we are nicely packed together, leaving aside (a bit) Filip when his muscle memory comes back to him...

This is just perfectly expressed Jos, thank you for taking the time. I was thinking more and more about making a post, but it's much better done when it's you !

Alright, I just wanted to add another option. I myself, generally am OK with it as it is, it's a challenge to drive fast but tidy. The car's engine is at the back, so that's where a lot of weight is. But also, I was and am OK with what's been said in that after race chat and here, and really don't want to spoil fun for anyone. So Bridgestone said they could probably come with a new better durable tire for next week's race :D

When "designing" the semi slick tires, I went with close to 100 km distance for good/decent grip and fast race pace, with normal fall off. After that, it would fall off more rapidly but still be drivable with more caution on corner entries and exits. These are not real high performance race tires like slicks, but something in between for trackday use.

Apparently, we ran somewhat faster in the first two races, so the race distance extended a bit during those 45 minutes. For the first race we ran 22 laps or 115 km and this second one was at 122 km distance with 21 laps but a bit longer track. As far as I remember, this tire wear issue wasn't that much felt in the last laps of the Barcelona race, but at Lago Maggiore with all it's really fast winding corners and hard braking zones for slow hairpins and corners, it was more obvious.

Now, again, I say this is another option besides the ones you guys already proposed. So I can redo just some of that tire wear for the semi-slicks and if you want it, let me know here ASAP. Make a vote or simply like/agree this message, I don't know :)

It's simple for me and wouldn't take long. The update would be only within the data.acd file which I'll upload for John to put on the main forum post for the next race at Bernese Alps. All you would have to do is copy that one file into your F50's car folder and replace the original. The full version of the car in SRO's download database will also get updated with this new data.acd file in that case. That's for anyone else who:

    - doesn't want to fiddle with any file management and can just uninstall the old car and install the new car OR
    - doesn't yet have the car installed but maybe wants to join somewhere during the season.

In addition to this suggestion, the server can then get back to normal x1 tire wear. The server's track grip is great to start at 95%, but I wouldn't let it climb to more than 97% at the finish with only less than 10 of us running and putting rubber on track. In reality it never grips up to 100% grip, even with full grids.

Using tire blankets or not... I'm OK either way, ran plenty of races with or without them. Take note that sliding and wheelspinning with cold tires/low pressures vs. when already up to optimum, is not quite the same thing on grip and tire wear.

If none of this works for you, maybe do a x1.5 or x2 tire rate.

I would be happy to try your suggestion Filip as always.

I'm oke with it as it is now. It would be another workload for me to update the download section and the servers and my private set.

I don't know how it was this race but in Barcelona my tires went busted, anyway as long as it same for all who cares.

It's not very fun to be forced to take that much care of your tyres in a 45mn race. Here in Lago Maggiore as soon as I had taken the lead I started to save them as much as I could, and they still were red-dead at least 6 or 7 laps before the chequerred flag I'd say.

Fun or not but taking care of your tires & car has always been big part of racing and if you happend to be fast, that´s big bonus...

Of course Kimi, but not for a 45mn race only which still is in the short races range, we're not talking about an endurance race composed of 2-4h runs. And the point is also that in this car you can barely save your tyres, it's like even when you keep them just warmed enough, you're not skidding, not blocking you end with red tyres in a matter of 30mn or so..

You got point there, this is like accelerated endurance. Which reminds me, we really need to do proper endurances sometimes, I really want to make VR guys sweat like pigs... ;)
