To follow up on my black screens , Turns out my vid card fan was stuffed with dust ! ..lol did the whole clean up detail & it seems to be ok after a off line test ! I keep this thing pretty clean for the most part & had just did the case fans a few weeks ago ,the vid card fan is facing the bottom & I can't see it . I was releveled to see it full of dust as that's an easy fix !

Well I missed this race, I joined the server and the race was already started but it was not even 8pm ( qualifying time for me) :(

should have tried a moment later.
something went weird and quali started 30mins to early.
we all left for server to loop and went back on until Rob could joint and start session on time.

Well... i'll try to keep this short, but please fell free to play the sad violin tune o_O
First, i appologize for not chating in-game, but with VR on my head i "loose" the keyboard, hence no comms possible.
FINALLY made it to the END, wooohooooo!!! That was my main goal, having constant issues with the PC last events, so in the end i was quite happy regardless having one of the worst racing ever, LOL.
I'm really not used to be alone at the front, so the pole was quite a surprise to me, specially because i'm new to ACC and past week didn't knew about kyalami. But i took some time to practice and set the Vantage best way i could and somehow it paid off.
Had a great start and after some laps managed to extend some space for #2 Bentley that really giving me a hard time, good job there!
But 30min's in without seeing anyone at all, my mind started toplay tricks on me and tottaly lost focus... I've reckoned my fuel calculations where bad and i needed to change pit strategy, so started to fidle over the keyboard while "racing" to change the settings, and obviously lost the rear in that last killer 'S' just before the last turn. Went hard on the wall, big damage, and my instinct was to get to the pits ASAP, wich i did. BUT, i didn't noticed that i did so in 2nd gear  so when i got to the pit stop already had a S&G penalty to serve ARRGGHH. And that's how i've screwed my own race, lol.
But i'm no quiiter, so i got back to race pace and tuned my focus, but now new challenge arrives: i was 1 lap down to everyone, but faster than most.

(*Note for Mr Santos, i appreciate your portuguese effort, but i'm a good english reader. The reason i kept flashing my headlights to you was because i was clearly faster than you and i was 1 LAP DOWN. Maybe you thought you were defending position (?) because there is litle to none information on the in-game menus, but you weren't buddy... you were just BLOCKING me from unlap myself, please try to understand my frustration and next time send a PM before you take assumptions. I would never flash headlights like that for any other reasons, but anyway, apologies if i've bothered you that much, and THANKS for excusing yourself from bumping my rear and almost turning me around.. Yes, you gave position back as you're supposed to, thank you, but i had to deal with aero damage for the rest of the race because of that. I'm not complaining and wasn't even going to mention it, but since you didn't enjoy my headlights, here it is.

"(what a thing? 7th place returning the position to the 13th) UNBELIEVABLE..." - NO Santos, i don't think it's unbelievable at all and it hapends a lot of times when a front grid/faster driver gets bumped or has a bad start and must climb up from the back, usually Pro drivers will reckon his faster pace and ease the unlaping, and will not "fight" with a faster driver for a position they are not loosing. Please take a moment to reflect on this. )

Anyhow, despite my hard time keeping focus, i really enjoyed the race, the car and the track. I think i have a competitive setup base now, just mynor tweaks on brake balance needed, and perhaps improve concentration levels might help in the next one :(
    Congrats to the Podium!!

PS - this is how i've "solved" the black screen issue. Somehow my VR will 'reset' itself around 30mins of use almost every time no matter what i'm running. So i've fired it up 30mins before getting into the server, and like clockwork, right at the beginning of Qualy i got the blackscreen for 5 secs  And that was it, when it hapened i knew i was 'safe' for the race because it never hapened twice in the same session. Talk about weird stuff huh?

What a race that turned out to be last night, and i am not even particularly keen on this modern Kyalami circuit!
Qually didnt go that well as i was half a sec at least down on my own PB but still top 10 so not too bad and knew i had a little more pace in my pocket come the race. :)
Got an alright start though seemed to start behind the other Aston that was supposed to be behind me o_O feared a pile up at tight T1 but everyone seemed well behaved under hard braking. However that changed when two cars had some kind of incident at T2/T3 and someone made a ridiculous rejoin from the left hand spearing diagonally straight into the lead pack  he missed me by millimetres by me jamming on my brake pedal and saw him clatter into others. Sorry but thats stupid driving and hope Rob dishes a penalty.
On the flip side, despite losing a few secs to the two guys ahead, i now had a safe gap of 6 seconds to the pack behind once they cleared the melee. What followed was a fantastic 3 car chase for 2nd to 5th with Jos in an Aston, Mascak? in a Ferrari and myself in a fast train for lap after lap. After about 40mins of this with no let up, the Ferrari finally lost control at the hairpin at the bottom of the hill, when i think he took a little too much kerb? For the next 10-15minutes i harried Jos for lap after lap but there was nowhere to risk a move despite seeming to be slightly quicker as i was getting out of the throttle or braking harder than i needed too to avoid contact and i was worried as the Ferrari was re-catching us. Once Jos pitted i set off trying to gain a gap in case his undercut worked, now i was 2nd overall. :) Near the hour mark my tyres started to go off so i pitted and hoped to be just in front. The stop went smoothly and i re-emerged with an 8 sec lead over the same two cars o_O thinking they must have caught traffic. I was half elated and half bored now as i had a big gap to them and the lead car had a 20+ sec gap to me so i was on my own for the last 30mins. When Jos closed the gap down to 6.9s i put the hammer down for a few laps, doing 43.5 and got the gap back to 8 secs and then the last 15mins were tiring solo running to the flag and a fine 2nd place finish

Well done to Selvi on the win and fellow Aston driver Mark for third :) Bad luck to Jos, his fine drive deserved a podium, but i have been victim to the pitstops in this series too! Even this race i finished with 14L left in the tank ...better than running out of Benzina i guess.

Just like to say, since the issue of "flashing headlights" has been raised" that it is something that I detest. When this happens to me I ignore it or try to any way. The game does provide information through the leaderboard or flags

    fully agree.

flash me and ill ignore you.
you can go around if you so fast...

in general i will let a faster driver past WHEN SAFE to do so.
as i dont need to loose time in a fight thats not mine.

    seriously, no flashing needed.
only after crossing the finish line

Ps what happened to the attendance last night? 32 guys registered but only 18 show up :( shame as a full grid always looks more spectacular and the track busier.

My steering wheel had shut down when we went to the race session, so I rebooted it quickly only to have no FFB for the start of the race. I thought that I would just try to hang on until an early pit stop could help me try to fix the problem. I pitted lap 15 or so and rebooted my wheel again, and sitting in the pits it felt like I had resistance on the wheel so I thought I was ready to go. Coming out of the pits I discovered that the FFB was now set on Ultra SuperMax Industrial Strength and I could barely turn the wheel. I had to retire as I couldn't even make it through turn 1. I had fun while it lasted.

Drivers & Survivors of Kyalami !
We have reviewed the lap 1 turn 2/3 incident and can clearly see the zero contact rule infraction .. The replay shows the story .
Renato Coelho In the 'turn 2 slight right hand fade' cuts it to tight and hits the curb , this action sends him back into the driving line & slams him into Santos who then is out of sorts from the contact and forced off track he then hits another car in the apex of T3 = the pile up . Replay shows Santos ,who was simply holding his line before he was hit came back on track in a safe manner but was out of sorts and made contact in the apex of T3 Santos then promptly followed the rule and did his drive threw clearing him of a penalty . Well done Mr.Santos ! way to take it on the chin & thanks for following the rules ..

Renato Coelho who made the first contact Failed to do a drive threw and therefore has received a drive through penalty in the next round .

Renato you have 3 laps to preform your drive through at the next event ! failure to do your drive through will result in a 1 race ban . If you miss the next event it will not simply clear your penalty . The drive through will Cary over to the next event .. If your next event is with a deferent sim/series the drive through still stands and must be done to clear your penalty . All info of players with penalty's is kept in the SRO admin penalty forum .
All penalty's from all sim's & series are recorded in this admin forum for all admins to review and update as penalty's are served .once you do your DT the penalty is cleared and the incident is resolved ..

Let this go to show if in doubt simply do the drive through ! If you hit someone you obviously know it  just do the dam drive through right then & there .. Having to do a drive through at the next event is a lot worse !

    Thank you !

    Hi all,
Thanks to @Björn Johansson for his advice on the fuel calculation and auxiliary apps and to @Mark Johnson for his kind words and fights.
This was an unexpected race on my already busy simracing calendar... but I decided to give it a go, last minute, as I'm enjoying ACC and the GT4s... So why not try the GT3s...
Other than the total disaster of my (first time ever) pitstops (yes, I had to do two  for an extra 2mins worth of fuel after 1h 30mins!) with ACC, which eventually ended up with a Stop and Go in the last lap that I didn't serve (@Rob Milliken, I see I appear in 10th position in the table and not DQ, is that right?)...
...As I was saying, other than that shameful strategy, I was quite surprised with my pace (Qualifying in P5) and with running in P2 for a good part of the race. Obviously, the issues in L1 were a big part of that fate although, with GT3 not being my cup of tea, I would have expected to be running more toward the middle of the pack.
Enjoyed a lot my fights with the Ferrari and with Mark J. and got a very positive overall experience to consider the next races could fill the few empty spots on my busy calendar :p. Congrats to the podium finishers. Well done in a really tough and demanding race.
Does anyone know how to save a 1:30min replay on ACC?
No video for this race though as the pitstop confusion was a massive blow and I need to keep some standards on the channel :rolleyes::(:confused::cool::D
Thanks Rob for putting this together and see you next time (possibly).
    All the best,
    Jos Ogos

Yes yes, it was faster and I am sure that in no way would I hold a faster driver in whatever position he is in ... The question, in this specific case, I was disputing position with the car ahead, in another situation where I would be alone , would make way for a faster car for sure ... :)

Well that sounds quite more reasonable from you, thanks for the explanation Santos. From others reports i´ve found you had a tough start also, so now i know why you were so mad about my flashing.. i guess we were both frustrated and trying to make the best out of it. Anyhow, i'm sorry i made it worst for you mate, there won't be a next time i promise! :)

Meanwhile, @Rob Milliken any chance we get the replay file? I have replays off because of pc issues i had... Thanks!!

The game tells you your fuel usage per lap!

What apps are out there? I miss some of the those available in AC for car setup/ vehicle dynamics

  17. Jos Ogos

I think it was telling me with a relatively full tank that I was using 2.66 litres per lap (ACC) and that was the basis for my calcs... But I might have got wrong the number of laps thinking that the pitstop would remove more time on the track that what actually happened.
    :(
    Experience for next time.;)

I suggest you add always +5 l because acc gives you average consumption of fuel. You could remain on the road with empty tank at the last lap : )

No secrets I just didn´t want to bogged down this session with other things than the race itself.
its a app ACC Results Companion Doug Duthie had develop I have found it use full but as said to Jos
I have not dig deep into it. But I recall it could do some fuel calculation etc.

The Aston has slightly dodgy fuel readings as i found out in some early races last season, hence now why i stick a fair bit more in than the calc tells me. I found during the race it consumes more than practise session using the same fuel load and setup o_O If it says its using 2.66L per lap, i do a calc using 3L per lap for instance. Saves the last laps heart ache or having to lower the engine map for last 10minutes.
