Welcome to round 6 Valencia Ricardo Tormo - Registration

Circuit Ricardo Tormo, also known as Circuit de Valencia and officially named Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, is a motorsport race track located in Cheste (Valencia, Spain) and built in 1999. It has a capacity of 120,000 and a main straight of 876 metres. It is often used as a test track by the Formula One teams, because of the mild temperatures in winter. Anthony Davidson holds the unofficial lap record, set in 2006 while testing a Honda RA106, with a time of 1 m 08.540sec.

The track hosts the MotoGP Valencian Community Grand Prix. Also, the FIA GT Championship had a race there in 2000 and 2004, the World Touring Car Championship from 2005 to 2012, the European Le Mans Series in 2007, and the DTM from 2010 to 2012. It has also been Formula E's pre-season test venue since the 2017–18 season, having moved from Donington Park, with the circuit also considered a replacement venue for the 2019-20 season because of the COVID-19 crisis cancelling numerous rounds. It has also been the GP3 Series (now FIA Formula 3 Championship) pre-season test venue until the 2017 season. The series also hosted a one-off event at the track in 2013. The GP2 Series (now FIA Formula 2 Championship) also held rounds at the track in 2006 and 2007. Valencia has also hosted the season opening round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series since 2014.

The track is named after Spanish, two-time world champion Grand Prix motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo, who died in 1998 of leukemia.

Interesting circuit, the above information surprises me.

Only because it has the feel of a bike circuit rather than a car one, the biggest giveaway is usually the complete lack of kerbs on most corners. Yes they are there but are in the main very flat or simply just paint.

    Something different though :)

I was going to do some practice tonight but Sebring is just brilliant this evening! lol

    Come on #55.... :)

Ok, server is now showing. Must of either been restarted, or game was really slow at discovering it.

You may see results posted for this event but until a final announcement is made, the results are unofficial. This event is under review.

What an awful race. Once again, the engine just dies as the horn counts down, no idea why, so had to reclaim last of the DPI's, which for some reason really confuses people. Is 2 by 2 really that hard to accommodate?
Once the race began, the lack of practice, and more my lack of bodily training showed. I was in physical agony the entire time, and for some reason, I was getting intermittant lag spikes making me feel ill and unconfident with everything, to the point of having two altercations with teammates, which I've of course, apologized for.
I've also got a stupid issue with my g29 at the moment where it's switching the fuel mix by 2 when I move the rocker by one. Assume it's a software thing, but it contributed in no small part to an awful race.
The biggest headache, though, came after that, where someone got a run on me on the start finish straight, so I pulled across to defend the position, leaving a cars width, and the driver started steering into me all the way to turn one, where they outbraked themselves, went wide, and then rammed up the inside of a GT3 car.
My driving wasn't the best tonight, and I hold my hands up, I was not physically fit to take on this track with these drivers, but when there was respect shown (kudos @Andrew Harper, on that note. Was a pleasure driving with you for a while) the racing was fun, and (almost) up to my cacophony of little ongoing disasters.

Eike, ha. I went to Wally's after the race to get some shelving, my shoulder was really sore. I think it was from the race. You should turn your wheel down a little.
I had a good race a couple of offs, no damage. @ my pit, I came out just behind baron, he moved forward due to traffic & such, but then later he had some bad luck and I was right on his tail with one lap to go. Just couldn't find a spot to jump, and he didn't bobble. Maybe I should map my 'quali' fuel mixture, maybe it would have helped.
There were a lot of drivers running beyond the track limits all race, everywhere. Maybe just turn the penalties on?

Q 1st time i tried softs and boost more than 2.
Was going .5 seconds faster on one lap but pole would have been .5 away still. Lifted on laps that went wide.
Q is not so important on 92min race and with the time i had for this season, would have been stupid to waste it on hot lapping.
Yesterdays race was the only one that had the luxury to practice before the event. Whole hour :/

R Just basically minded my own business and put pressure to front, when there was moment for it. Like if guy in front hits traffic, boost a little and so on.
2nd stint i then knew how fuel will go and was more easier where as 1st stint laid back little.

Found in the end that results showed me as 2nd but im 50-50 sure i won or i esced out too soon :D

Wish had more time for this to give @Jiri Vyslouzil a run as he was clearly the one to beat.

Managed some practice on this one before the event (about an hour or so) and was reasonably happy with the balance of the car and the lap times. Would've like to have done more but too much workwise to cope with at the moment :(

I found the softs were overheating on turn in at the front, which was fine for the first ten or so laps but after that they started to suffer, so I did some long runs on mediums and found that although I was slightly slower (a few tenths), the stint was more consistent (and quicker overall) and I had no performance drop off like with the softs. So I decide to risk it for the race setup.

Did a couple of good qualifying laps, maybe I could've gone a few tenths faster but happy with the time I set. Looking at the sectors I was fine for sectors 1 and 3 but losing over a second in sector 2, so something I was doing wrong for sure.

Got a good start, no issues, and just drove a clean race. My pace was fine, I was in the 22's and 23's almost the entire stint, however (and this is the mistake I made with this league) I needed to practise against AI with traffic. I was way to cautious and losing so much time. I could stay with Peter and sometimes slowly catch him but I would then lose 6 or 7 seconds in a lap and that was too much. When the leaders caught me I could just about stay with them (good sign! haha) but they were far more aggressive in traffic than me and just pulled away.

I did try to save some fuel but not enough and had to pit for a few litres at the end, no big deal as it didn't affect my finishing position.

So all in all, I'm happy but I needed to spend more time understanding the car and how to get the best out of it, I could have got some better results.

As for the mod itself, I really enjoyed racing it. My only criticism is the engine sounds need to be overhauled as they weren't great and every time the car was on idle I thought I'd stalled, lol :)

Not sure about other racing at the moment, I want to take a break but we'll see. The GT500's look interesting but it's all about spare time at the moment.

Well done for everyone who took part, to still have a grid of 20+ cars at the end of a league is brilliant.

If lack of time to practice is the issue, but you have time to race, the GT3's might be a decent option. One setup can work for a lot of different tracks, and it'd visiting asian circuits that we don't see on many calendars. Would be good to see you on the grid :)

I’ll test the car out and see how I go, I see your point but I’m not great in GT cars. I think they require a certain technique to driving them and I’ve been driving prototypes and high downforce cars too long. Lol. :)

Fun race but a bit depressing doing the review. Some drivers just have no respect for our rules and abused track limits almost every lap. I can't speak for John but I suspect he feels the same. It's very disrespectful to SRO and to our Admins who have to sit down and spend too much damn time figuring out who is driving fair and who is driving dishonestly.

    I feel your agony.
I have come from running F1 and F3.5 for years, but the lack of leagues and decent clean racers with these cars means I had to change to GT3s as there are way more leagues ran with them.

I feel that pain too. Jumped in the F1 2020 mod last night and was instantly on a reasonable pace. Back in the DPi, and I'm trying to take too much apex speed and braking way too late. It takes a lot to "slow down" to go faster.

Is there a replay to be had somewhere?

Hey Mark, well I know I ran over the white lines on a few occasions but I always pulled the car back straight away and I never gained any sort of advantage from it.

The only other times when I may have done it was when lapping a GT3 car and I moved over to avoid any contact but that was rare.

So if I deserve a time penalty then fair enough, not a problem, but I never abused track limits to gain an advantage.

I'm curious, did this track never have limits applied to it in the design stage? I assume that's' why the track lacks it and why it wasn't switched on.

I'm pretty certain the server was running the track limits rule as it always does.
The Modded Track itself does not have any limits set in the mod I think is the problem.

Yeah sorry, maybe I phrased that wrong. Yes that was what I thought, the original designer of the track hadn't built in track limits.

I'm fairly certain that I had that on another track once, maybe on Race2Play days.
