Welcome to round 3 Laguna Seca Historic

Laguna Seca Raceway (branded as WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and previously Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca) is a paved road racing track in central California used for both auto racing and motorcycle racing, built in 1957 near both Salinas and Monterey, California, United States.

The racetrack is 2.238 miles (3.602 km) long, with a 180 feet (55 m) elevation change. Its eleven turns are highlighted by the circuit's signature turn, the downhill-plunging "Corkscrew" at Turns 8 and 8A. A variety of racing, exhibition, and entertainment events are held at the raceway, ranging from superkarts to sports car racing to music festivals. Laguna Seca is classified as an FIA Grade Two circuit.

The name Laguna Seca is Spanish for "dry lagoon": the area where the track now lies was once a lake, and the course was built around the dry lake bed. After the course was reconfigured, two artificial ponds were added.

    Hi John,
I brought this point some days ago about racing here, but didn't get answer at the time :
"On a side note : am I right to consider that we're not allowed to exploit the pit lane entry to enter this last tight turn ? What will be the rule exactly, an accidental 50% of the car width or something like that ? Because if we keep the general rule of "at least 2 wheels on the track" it still might lead to problems with the drivers needing to enter the pits.."
May you enlighten me please ?

Maxime, in this shot below it shows how far you can go over the left white pitlane entry line. Going over it with all 4 wheels (when not pitting) is considered a "track cut".
If done multiple times to gain a time advantage, it is ground for protest.

The picture below shows a white line to the left of the pitwall. Since it is there for safety reasons to prevent coalitions with cars coming out of the pitlane, you can not go over it with all four wheels or it's a track cut. That part of the racetrack is also not meant to be raced on for the above reasons.

For reverence from the rules and regulations:
    2.7 Off-Course Excursions

The competitor is required to follow the marked course during the competition and shall not gain an advantage by an off-course excursion.

'Off-course' is defined as leaving the marked course with all four wheels. The definition of the term 'advantage gained' will be left up to the sole discretion of the Race Steward(s) and may include when a driver goes all four-wheels-off on the exit of a corner, or was deemed to be an unnatural and/or unrealistic racing line. Should a car leave the track the driver may rejoin, however this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any lasting advantage.

Penalties may be assessed for an off-course excursion that Steward(s) decide affords an advantage to the offender.

So a maximum of half the car width in the pitlane entry.

Correct and also only 2 wheels over the line beside the pitlane wall.

Shall I say that speaking about the first image "half a car" and "Going over it with all 4 wheels" is not the same rule?
Shall we have a clear rule not open to interpretation?

Do we have to keep at least 2 wheels inside the track or do we have to keep half a car inside the track in that specific point? I'm sure that is not the same.

If the left wheels on that image touch the white line before the pit entrance, it will be see as regular? A.k.a. white line is part of the track?

I really don't want to race with this "half car" rule, as it just provides uncertainty on what is allowed and what is not.

As long as there are two wheels touching the left hand side of the white line I think that's fine. Saying that it should be "half the car" doesn't work.

Indeed it's not the same, this is why I was asking for a clarification of the rule on that specific case.

I said "in this shot below it shows how far you can go over the left white pitlane entry line".
You have to keep at least 2 wheels on the racing surface. If you go over it with all 4 wheels, it's a track cut. That's the official 2.7 Off-Course Excursions rule.
The first picture shows what is allowed.

I fell off the road...more like, the planet...starting in the esses and didn't get a chance to cap the replay. Hope the server version is posted so I can watch the action.

Pit stops are the ruin of motorsport. Racing sims makes no exceptions.
Today I experienced my pit stall appearing and disappearing. Than, on the 2nd attempt, I found Kimi right before my stall and I had no manouvre space to stop on my place, so I had to put the reverse to stop in the "right" place and finally change my tyres. To be honest I'm a bit tired about the bugs of this game. This continuous russian roulette of the mandatory pit is dreadful, and tbh at the moment I'm really tempted to stop my champ here and avoid some other sour discoverings:(

Well, that was a bigger disaster then I expected.
There was a mess on the start, someone collected me from the right, and I ended parked in the field, losing something like 15 seconds. I got going again, and was in my usual place soon, just ahead of Mark Johnson and slowing him down :). I think he and Filip had a contact at some point as they dropped off after a few laps.
I caught up to Doni after that (from our GPL league, first time seeing you in AC). After a couple of laps of close racing, we were on the approach to the corkscrew, and he braked much earlier than I do. I went to for the left side, but ran out of space, I tried to take avoiding action over the grass, but couldn't stop myself, and after running back onto the track I collected you. Sorry, I took a drive through immediately after that. Shame AC sent you off into the black hole and you couldn't continue. Contact wasn't heavy, my car was barely damaged.
After some laps of running on my own, letting the leaders by as they arrived, Mark J was on my tail. This time he didn't stay too long. After not managing to pass me for a few laps, he went for hist stop. I decided to stay for as long as I could. I picked a place from Jari this way, and stayed ahead of Mark, who apparently had to stop twice.
I think you had to go through the pits on the right side (or through the middle) of the pitlane. Left side it seems didn't count as pits.

It's not a bug. It's a feature of the track and allows you to have faster 'old-school' pitstops without the restrictively slow speed limits. It's your responsibility to know where your pitbox is.

LOL, that was good I admit :D:D:D "faster Old-school pitstops"... where you find a retired car just right before your pit stall that doesn't let you stop without putting the reverse gear.

What should I had known exactly? That if I went on the left side to avoid Kimi's car to reach my pit stall without destroing my car, my pit stall would have disappeared?

I should had known that if you're on the left side of the white line my crew would had suddently disappeared?

What should I had known exactly?o_O

Only bumped three people in this race! But I think I was either when up to fast pace or just eager to go, catching them all unready or already unstable or when lifting.
    1. Phil Brown - not going at the start, so I turned but couldn't turn enough, so stomped on the brake. Chaos ensued.
    2. Mark Johnson - Who I chased and raced for position after that disaster start, but somehow he lifted or he got loose exiting the fast chicane on the acceleration, not sure. Maybe he wanted to pull off and let me go. But I didn't feel that he was much slower anyway for him to do that. As I was already too close and on the gas while behind him, I couldn't react in time for that slowdown so spun him out into the fields. I decided after that to pit early anyway since I had massive damage all around already. Sorry, Mark! edit: Oh, I saw now, his gear got into neutral out of that fast chicane so he couldn't accelerate.
    3. Jos Ogos - after great fighting for several laps and not risking too much I wasn't able to go around him. But then Jos defended the inside of the last turn in one of those laps, but kept it left and just didn't go out of the corner when I was behind him. Bitter surprise. Waited after and gave the position back before the final few laps.

It's true what he says @Maddie Shepherd but it wasn't Kimi's car. Kimi's car was couple of pitstalls at the beginning. It was Caitlin's car that was really blocking his safe approach into his pit stall. That does suck! @Matteo Santini The only solution I saw was approaching your pit stall not from the pit wall side, but all the way from the right hahah it gets better and better! Having a race run without pit speed limit was a joy even with an miserable outcome, but it's difficult to do this with short pit lanes where you have to stack 25-30 cars.

That's objectively not a bug and I don't know why he's calling it that. It's just bad luck.
