    Important Oval Info!

Rolling start with pace car: The game will show on-screen instructions as we start the pace laps. The race start will have 2 pace laps behind the pace car, after lap one if we are all in the correct starting order, when the pace car crosses the line it's lights will go out. This signifies that we will go green at the line next time around. If the pace car lights stay on we need to do another lap. The main reason for a failed start is cars being out of order.

Once the pace car pulls off, stay at pace car speed until the green light comes on. No creeping up with the speed to the line.

Cautions will be on so the pace car will come out whenever the yellow comes on. Slow down and be ready to form up behind the pace car. The game will give on screen instructions as to where you need to be and who you should follow.

The Pits will be open to lead lap cars ONLY the first time by, then open to all on the next pass. You will see the X for pits if they are closed to you. The penalty for entering closed pits is a drive through.

The server will be set for 10 mins Private qualifying with a total of 6 laps allowed, which includes the outlap and inlap, so only 4 timed laps are allowed in total. Exceeding this will require you to start the race from the pit lane. You can drive your 6 laps anytime within the 10 mins session.

If you crash during your qualifying and you want to run again, if time allows, then you must drive back to your pitbox. You can NOT USE ESC to return to the pits. If you do you must remain there as your qualifying session is OVER.

    PIT STOPS
When making a pit stop you MUST use the pit entry lane which starts before T3. DO NOT slow down in T4 and enter the pits from there. However under a Yellow caution period you may enter the pits after T4. Re-joining the track when exiting the pits must be done by merging carefully after T2 onto the back straight.

    Restarts after Yellow
Do not pass the car ahead before the start/finish line otherwise you will receive an in-sim penalty.

Guys, I'm seriously struggling for pace despite using exactly the same setup as last year. I'm losing about 5 or 6 tenths per lap (Almost 4MPH average!) and I don't know where. Am I using the correct wheelbase? 119 inch? Also, I can't seem to increment or decrement the engine boost like you said I should be able to.

The wheelbase is fixed for this event by the track selected i.e. Indy 500 Oval, so no matter what it says in the sim, you can't changed it.
Mixture changes, not boost, are only available with the Indycar 2014 car, not the DallaraDW12_2014 car. My testing showed that there is not much in it between the two car mods, perhaps 1-2/10th's at most.

Now you know how it feels for the rest of us when we are a second slower than you in other races Caitlin ;):D

Lol fair enough! I just don't understand how I can be 6 tenths slower than *myself*. XD

The race server is now up and running but only with a 10 lap race setting. This is to allow further practice and a short race if anybody wants one. It will be amended to 125 laps shortly before the actual race on Sunday 23rd May.

A few more information notes in addition to those above in post #2.

Restarts after Yellow will be single file, not double file as in previous Indy 125 events. This is to try and avoid the sometimes misleading rF2 messages about who you should be following when you are behind the Pace Car.

When a Full course Yellow is thrown, the race positions will be set when you cross the start/finish line, but it is expected that everyone should back off and not race to the line. A post race penalty may be applied if this action is not followed.

Serving a penalty under Full Course Yellow If rF2 tells you that you must serve a penalty but a FCY is in place, you can continue running on track until it goes Green again. If you try to serve your penalty under FCY it will not get cleared and you have to stop again.

The Pace Car When the Pace Car joins the track out of the pits, if the lead car is travelling at a high speed, the PC will try to jump out in front of it and crash into the outside wall, before rebounding back onto the track. This is an rF2 bug/glitch so my advice if you are the lead car is to slow down significantly after crossing the S/F line to around 150kph. This should minimise the PC's actions. The server has been set so that the PC is not collidable, so if you do connect with it at any time during the race, it will not cause a collision.

Fuel consumption is set to x2 which should give 18-19 laps of normal green lap running.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Was third with 1 lap of advantage on the fourth, I made a miscalculation with the fuel and the car shut down a few meters before my pit stall. I was able to reach it but the engine was off :(

Unlucky. You were doing a really good job.

Did you forget to allow yellows, Ken?
Anyway, sorry for the rejoin @Mark Hightree . I thought you'd seen that I was off the racing line. That's a tough situation to be in.

Make sure you have buttons/keys programmed for ignition and engine start.

No I didn't. The testing we did gave us FCY so I'm not sure why it didn't tonight. :( I'll check into it for future races.
I think we should run this event every 3 months, what do you think?

I think we'd end up with smaller entry lists if we did that, as it wouldn't be such a 'special event' any more. I may be wrong though. If I was you, I'd do this race every year but have different one-off oval events every three months, like the one we did with the Pro Mazda.

So many incidences I'm not sure which one you are referring to. My apologies to whomever I may have had contact with. It was a bit wild. I T-boned a driver that was stalled on the front straight. Had hard contact with a driver coming out of turn 4 ( may have been Phil.. Sorry bro..) Had to make several other evasive high speed maneuvers that got the heart rate up. All in all, I loved it. Finally finished an Indy race, although 9 laps down :) We should do this more than once a year! Or maybe what Catlin suggests and have a one-off oval event 4-5 times a year. Maybe a complete Indycar series. These cars are fun.

Also, congrats to Ricardo, Ed and Didier for the podium finish. Especially to my teammate Ed who missed quali and finished second. Awesome job!!

I thought that going in circles always full would be long, but I did not see the time passed, just missing the yellow flags.
    ok for a serie

I'm the one who sent you flying into the pitlane on about lap 20 or 21. I'm glad to see you're not too upset about it. Again, sorry!

I don't have an explanation for that because after checking the server files used for the race, they were the same config as we used for the final couple of tests and we had FCY in those. For future races we'll put the 'probability' parameter for FCY back to default.

No problem Mark, I love all the high speed action. I think a series with these cars and just this track would be great.

A series of races with just ovals and these cars might be cool.
