Might be taking the McLaren this season. Never driven it before, so good to try something new. What about anyone else?

Cool. I'm also a BMW man, so that is next on my list to use.

I don't have any issues with this as long as it does not need to be in or mess with the server files, as 'custom out of game' skins are not supported;) But if players want to install them on their own I don't see a problem.

Whitch is the best car in the pack for cornering stability, braking and horsepower?

Are you thinking of joining us John? :) I can only speak for myself but I find the new BMW M4 to be very stable in all aspects & the Merc is also a solid & stable car, hop on the server & take one for a spin, all the cars have their own characteristics & will suit a certain style so it depends on your style & what feels good to you! I know you don't like any type of shift protection :D& I find the M4 to be one of the cars that shifts a bit better when it comes to hi revs & downshifts! but that's just my feeling .. I could be way off the mark lol:eek::D Either way we all hope you will end up joining us! it is a fantastic sim!
For the real scoop on all these cars check out Aris's blog "Aris Drives" some in depth video on the how, what & why of the deferent cars in ACC & how to get the best out of them! It's great stuff! the thread is filled with lots of his vids
    here is a little taste

Did a bit of practice (I know, shock horror). Into the 1:43s in the McLaren which matches what I was doing last June in the Aston. Have to be gentle on the brakes into the fast stuff, but seems 1.8 hasn't changed the pace too much. What about anyone else's pace?

I've joined SRO server and several others with no issue, so if anyone wants it, it's down here.

Public servers are full of M4s and 720s. Front engined cars seems popular and stable (if you handle the understeer)

I'm in 45-46 in race trim, but I still hope I can get a second. My biggest problem is I can't find a fast and consistent line through Aqua Minerale and Variante Alta

eh, didn't the Macca and the M4 get nerfed quite hard in the latest updates because they were too fast... I'm still taking Macca because I dont have time to work out proper setups for anything else, but I did test a few cars and Lambo + Audi (actually Audi really rips @ Imola on default aggressive setup, shame they managed to make that v10 sound like a hoover or I'd take that for a change) were both about the same pace too :p

Laptimes don't mean much without knowing track temp / grip condition + fuel level...

That's what I thought as M4 hadn't been bop'd yet. It's still a really easy car to drive as it's so forgiving over the curbs. The car won't make you go faster, only you will, but the car might help you stay on the track to be able to go faster LOL! Mind you I was on another server last night and 90% of the cars were M4s or 720S!

McLaren is hard to drive compared to some of the softer cars. Very easy to get back end around on turn in.

True, but I can't give everything away for free! ;-)
Track temp was quite warm as I think air was 36 degrees on the server yesterday.

Well I tested in some conditions and Audi with aggressive setup did a best of 1:43.1, so make of that what you will...

I have to say i did do a quick comparison with my old audi setup and was quicker in it.

Shame this has been organised for the same weekend as the Daytona 24hrs!

I hear you! It's awesome to watch the real ones! I'm set to record broadcast coverage of the 24hr race so the 2hrs of sim racing (P-1 & 60 min race) for me is no threat to the 2 days of 24hr coverage! I prob won't even watch my recorded part unless there's some 'must see' action that I miss while racing online:D

Nahh my pace is far from 1:43, this will be a tough one, i will be happy if i manage to be at the middle.. :(
After the major 1.8 update i found myself slower 1.5 second or so..
