    DISCLAIMER: DRIVING PROTO-TYPES

    * If you choose to drive a proto-type in this series, you must realize and accept that in every race you will be held up several times per lap.
    * If you choose to drive a proto-type in this series, you have to respect every other driver on track in any class at any moment (even if you're fighting).
    * If you choose to drive a proto-type in this series, you must realize that the GTE class is your equal on track and does not need to get out of your way.
    * If you choose to drive a proto-type in this series, you must realize that the GTE class is the most difficult of all three classes because they are the slowest.

If a proto-driver does not understand these rules of behaviour, he will be asked to move to the GTE class.

    WET WEATHER EVENT

This will be a wet weather event.
Practise will be dry, so qual will also be dry.
    Qual will be dry.
The race will have rain in it.

Actually, there will only be rain in the race itself. If I put rain in practice, then Qual will also be wet.

I thought practice at Patras was wet, quali and start of the race was dry?

@John vd Geest So how does the Rain work in this Series. First Wet Race in this series for me.
So is it Full Wet Race? Or is the Race Dry with a chance of Rain or do we have a dry race with a Set period of Rain?

    Hi Tom,
On Saturday there will be a drivers briefing in which it will say that Qual and warmup will be dry. The race itself will be dry the first 3/5 of the race. The last 2/5 of the race will have rain in it.

Acutally, I would prefer it to remain a mystery when it would rain in the race. That would make it more exciting if you didn't know.
But then I would be the only one that knew, setting up the server, and I would be accused of prior knowledge if I won ...

FYI, I went on the server last night & it was raining when I joined (for the last 20 min of practice). So i restarted practice after time ran out and it was sunny but the track was soaking wet and I needed wets to drive.

I wasn't really fussed about knowing when it would rain, just that it would be a Dry to wet or wet to dry race.

Is there no way to setup the server to randomly throw in some rain? So nobody knew when it was coming? The only thing we would know is that it would rain but not know when?

In rF2 the weather scripting is set up in sections, have a look in single player, its broken down into 5 segments of time split up evenly depending on the total race time, so if it was a 100 min race, each segment would be 20 min. The server has the same setting to work with , so to answer your question, No lol .. someone (who ever sets up the server) will always know :D

the other thing is that in real life you always have a weather forecast. and you can always just stick your head out of the garage and look at the sky to see the clouds moving in, or breaking up. i wouldn't mind a bit of chance but, in my opinion, there does need to be a reasonably reliable forecast to allow for the limitations of the game.

LOL. There are perks to being an SRO admin. But I also agree with Barrett. We should provide the forecast, maybe like 1-2 days ahead of the event?

Well, you can set the percentage chance of rain in each segment so it becomes a bit 'random' when it will start raining (or not), so in a lot of ways very similar to using real weather and having a storm blow in (or not).
Having a percentage chance of rain in any given segment, verses 100% chance of rain would [mostly] remove any 'prior knowledge' of the conditions (or rather, driver and admin alike would have the same idea of weather and no one really knows when it will start, thus equaling out these things)....?...

I'm not running this series, but I feel that a forecast should be just that, as Barrett & Jason have implied i.e. starting dry with small/medium/high chance of rain etc. Stating what it will be in % for each scripted segment is defeating the object of the challenge in using the weather scripting in the first place.

I think John has done a great job of communicating exactly this! He has let us know with a type of "forecast" due to his knowledge of setting up the server so in effect we all get a forecast...:)

    LMP1 Ginetta Class

We apologize for the LMP1 Ginetta class still being visible in the series download section.

Although the LMP1 Ginetta class is closed, we can not remove the LMP1 class from the series or the download section because it has been part of the series in the beginning and therefore embedded in the series database for calculations ect. We can not just delete it. Thanks for your understanding.

Dang! It's a real trick to try to hustle this Oreca around this track when wet

Speaking of which, every time I've went in the server the practice session is soaked. I can restart the session but the track conditions remain.
It's not raining (until maybe hour and 15 mins into the session, then it starts again) Tried to do enough laps to form me a decent dry line and at least get a few dry laps in, but I think it'll be necessary to go offline to do that, currently. Just as I got it to dry out slightly the rain came. lol
Seems to take a substantial amount of time for one car to do so (understandable) and seems to me that the track just takes a long time in general to dry. Not that that's bad or wrong or anything, I'm just saying. :D
