    SERVER IS UP

Please note that this event has been setup on our new rF2 race hosting server, so please post any issues encountered in this thread.

The server does not require fixed car setup. Are we free to setup the car as we wish or is it just a temporary omission?

It looks like an error on the new server setup.

I would leave it all default and only change what we have been allowed to over the rest of the season (Tyres / Brake bias / Brake Pressures). Just in case it is put back to fixed.

Personally there's no point in changing the server setup for the last race, although it would be nice to sort all the grounding problems on this track and fix the oversteer out of the slow corners for once.

I'll sort the fixed setup default out tomorrow (or today as it's now 00:05 GMT) :)

    ok, thanks!
Ha ha, I'm struggling with understeer in the mid to fast corners. We are all different )). To overcome oversteer it is enough just to be a bit more gently on throttle. You could also try to move break balance to the front.

I have the oversteer problems when going over the lumpy slow sections where any throttle before the car is over the slope its going round. No problems under braking so brake bias won't help.

The oversteer problem has to be fixed with the throttle, there's no other way to fix it because its fixed setup and always on a crest or rise which are also on the slowest corners. There is one medium/fast right hander that causes issues where I really have to watch the throttle input, which is a pain in the A@# because its compromising my top speed on the fastest part of the track. If I can get to full throttle that corner just after the apex without being so gradual I should be able to reach the 270kph instead of 268.
Setup way of fixing it is to raise the ride height and fiddle with the springs and dampers to get the wheels to follow the track better without grounding out.

I'm not seeing mid corner understeer, the car bounces only if going too fast for the corner which is the tyre skipping due to loosing grip. Maybe try holding throttle at the mid corner a little longer before going to full tilt. that should cure the understeer. Adding throttle lifts the nose thus reducing front grip aka, understeer.

But with these cars you have to balance it just right, too slow and oversteer / too fast and understeer. I enter corners a little too fast and let the engine slow it down then apply throttle gradually on exit to keep the speed up but the nose able to turn.

I'm confused how u guys ran the default setup for a whole season, like its not even bad its horrible.
not only is the default setup not realistic but also dangerous, with the current ride height if u step on the kerbs ur stuck and can't steer basicly race over if ur on fast corner exit.
i ran the default setup and i'm 2 seconds slower so i'm against running fixed setup also what is the logic behind fixed setup, i mean in real life they don't use that so why would we use that its not gonna make us all equal.

    Thanks Ken

I can spend a lot more time sorting a setup and tweak it for each track which would shave a few more seconds off my times, meaning instead of 1:12s I could do 1:08-1:09s. But other ppl don't have the time so they would have to stick with the default and be at a disadvantage, and therefore have even bigger gaps between drivers.
Running default keeps the cars effectively stock so everyone has the same. It is then down to driver skill (and how big your bllks are), instead of who ever has the most time to waste on getting the best setup or the most money to drop on an Esports setup (yes they are out there and are actually hacks).

The default is not that bad just a bit too much grounding. Suzuka was absolutely glorious in these, Motegei was dreadful and so is this track due to the elevation changes.

All the other races were done on the default so it would not be fair to alter it for the last race of the series.

I'm 100% with you on this, and yes Esport setups are scams and exploits

but what i'm saying is if we are running a fixed setup we should run an appropriate setup, you can't run a Monza Setup in Monaco.
and with these cars there are numerous problems with the default setup that could be avoided so just make a setup to fix these issues and everyone runs it no problem.
also sometimes fixed setup could ruine the pace of good drivers just because it dosent work with their driving style so its really not an issue of skill anyways thats all i have to say about this other than that, it is what it is.

I think its what the appealling to the series that you have to deal with the setup you are given and adjust your driving style to get around the track as fast and consistent. If someone would make a setup he/she would have an advantage over the others... So it would be best to stick with what we did for the series.

I tried to do a few laps but get the message: Unable to start server mod, probably missing content. I did practise yesterday. Do I have to download something again or how can I fix it?

Open ModMgr.exe from the Bin64 folder in RFactor2 install:

    Temp 1.png

Find the "SRO Super Formula Japan R6" and uninstall then delete it.

    Temp 2.png

Restart Rfactor 2 and re-join the server as normal.
That fixed the same error for me.

I do have a question. After a few laps, it says "Rear flap system enabled". Were we using DRS this whole time?:confused:

Confirm, uninstalling and deleting v-mode is enough. I just did it through standard UI.

DRS is track specific so does not take into account if the car has this system. Our car doesn't, so just ignore this message. Even if you turn it on, you'll not get the relevant effect.

Hi there. Just to check, due to the clocks changing in the UK the race today is going to be at 4:15 my time. Is that correct?

Too bad to hear that... I was looking forward racing against you for the title... You are so good in these cars throughout the series.

I look in the event details of the race and there the correct times for each timezone are displayed so I assume those are the correct times. Here in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) time zone the race is one hour later than usual.
