I had the same issue with tyre changes. Had to come in twice and went from 28s in front to 1m28s down. Are there no penalties or damage set for this series?

I had a drive-thru and the crew repaired damage in my pitstop.
The game has a strategies option that you can set before the race. You can also select a strategie window in the race and set stuff like tires and fuel.

Yes it’s the same as Project Cars 2

looks complicated at first but it’s quite useful once all setup.

I used to create about six options with various levels of service and then pick the one I wanted on pit entry.

    so for example…

    1. Fuel and Tyres - no damage repair
    2. Fuel and Tyres - just aero repair
    3. Fuel and Tyres - all damage repair
    4. Just Tyres
    5. Just Fuel
    7. Splash and Go
    6. Repair All Damage
    7. McDonalds Big Mac Meal To Go

(Ok I may have made the last one up….)

You get the idea anyway, I then used to just pick the option I wanted on pit entry. If I remember the only thing you had to watch out for is if you left it too late and didn’t select in time your pit crew wouldn’t be ready and you end up doing a drive through and have to try again the next lap.

The auto option is ok but useless in our league style case. The pit crew will always do what it thinks is best. Which is normally new tyres, fill the tank and repair everything. Which can mean sitting in the pits for over a minute. Lol.

I set the strategy up before the race... The only thing I noticed was that change tyres setting was set to "recommended". Does that mean that the game decides? If I set it to "all" does that mean it will always change them.

Yep pretty much, "Recommended" means the pitcrew will decide if your tyres need changing and what compound to fit.

"All" means they will change all of them to the compound chosen in the menu below.

Whether AMS2 is the same on this I don't know but when we had the Project Cars 2 GT league, if rain is forecast (but it's not actually raining yet and the circuit is still dry) "recommended" caused the pit crew to fit wets anyway! So you leave the pits and promptly spin because you have no grip. lol. So you have to watch out for that.

As mentioned it's a bit odd at first but once you've set everything up it works ok.

Thanks for the fix! Although it did not show up in the game, the results had the correct name!
We did have some issues, I remember after Q it did not have a 3rd place driver  then when the session changed, he was there. The results only showed the 8 finishers, so I had to manually do some fixes but they are now posted!

I'll just have to make sure my name is correct before connecting to the server. I'm assuming once connected to a session it won't update for other players if reconnecting with a new name. I'm new to AMS2 so I don't really know the quirks of it yet.

Also for some reason I do not have a flag next to my name in the standings and register. I figured this would be based on my SRO profile location, but it didn't seem to update. I should have a US flag.

Funny that with with 10-20 percent of tyre life it does not change them.

Thanks Rob. I doubt most members know how messy and time consuming processing results can be, especially where there are errors in the results. You are a pro at that, as well as racing, broadcasting, creating graphic art for the site, creating and managing series, race server troubleshooting, etc, etc, etc.. Is there anything Rob does not do at SRO? ;)

You can set your country by hovering your mouse over your name and then select Personal Details. Select your Country from the dropdown and click Save. The flag should appear.

What was the racing like for everyone?

Personally until the pitstop mess. I was more or less in a fight with Ernest. After a first corner collision I had to overtake a few cars and then was already 7s behind and losing like 0.5s per lap. After a while I passed Ernest when he crashed/spun. He caught up again and think he pitted. Probably he was on a two stop strategy. I chose to do a 1 stop already testing softs lasted 30 minutes. After having to come in twice I lost 2 minutes. finding my self still in 2nd ahead of John. Basically I was running by myself for 62 minutes running laps and not having actually raced anyone.

This was my 2nd AMS2 race being a rFactor 2 player so I do not know all the details of the game e.g. pit strategy. That there are no collisions in the pits. When you get a penalty. E.g. Did the pit entry start at the cones becaus the speed limit notification started there.

Looking at the initial sign up with 22 drivers I thought this would be a great championships with a lot of fighting on track. I was quite surprised to see that a lot of drivers signed out or did not turn up. I still have to decide if I will continue. The days are getting longer and temperatures more appealing so also other fun stuff to do instead of sitting in my rig behind the wheel while the sun is shining.

So maybe I will see you in two weeks otherwise I will be back in the fall. Grtz Gert-Jan

My qualifying was much better than my actual race. I avoided the lap 1 turn 1 incident by going a bit wide, but then a car behind who was probably also avoiding the same incident took me out. A recovery drive from there and many blue flags. My concentration in the race just kept dropping and I had a few offs. My race pace was significantly slower than my qualifying pace, and the second half of the race I was having trouble controlling the car. Missing cones made it difficult for me to setup my lines going into corners. Did my pit stop earlier than I wanted because of damage but was able to stretch it to the end with barely any fuel left.

I've driven the VRC Formula NA 99 car around Watkins Glen in Assetto Corsa and it was a really good car and track combination. I'm hoping it'll be the same with these cars for the next round.

I avoided the turn 1 incident and found myself in second for a few laps but I was too slow and was running 4th until my failed pit stop. And then due to lack of concentration, like Stefano, things went from bad to worse :) I have lots to learn about setting pit stop strategies and working the ICM menu. I'm in the same position as Gert. I've raced RF2 exclusively for years and learning a new sim hasn't been easy for me mostly due to lack of time to learn it. I will be more prepared for the Glen.

And I thought the racing was ok. It will get better. I hope everyone continues in this series.

I had no problems with lack of concentration, because I had to work hard to maintain good pace. However I noticed that the horizon is shaking quite a lot in AMS2 and this can be tiresome on the eyes I noticed.

I will continue in the series as enjoyed the practice, quali and automobilista2 looks great in VR. .My pace is poor so I don't have any great expectations.
Will just have to be more careful in pitlane ;)

I had made a pit strategy before the race, but when I selected it on track in the menu, it disappeared and I was left with a default setup.
Maybe Andrew Harper knows how that works.

I made my pit strategy before the race and saved it over Reynard 98i. I did a pit request and pitted, so the first time did not use the ICM. After I ran a lap after the pit stop I noticed tyres had not changed and I used the ICM to remove all the fuel for my tyre stop. Probably there is also a tyres only button somewhere. So on each straight I was removing some of the fuel until it was on zero and then pitted the 2nd time.
