All our race times use BST as the base reference and our race page for every event will show the race times in your local time zone, as long as you have completed the country field in your membership registration.

Our rule at SRO is that the white lines define the edge of the track and therefore the track limits. We allow two wheels maximum inside or outside the white lines on any corner. Any painted kerbs are not within the track limits and therefore regardless of how any RW series manages track limits they do not apply at SRO.

Multiple cutting and/or running outside on corner exits, contradicting our definition of track limits, will result in post-race penalties being applied. We also understand that the odd cut or run-off will occur and that will not be penalised, but equally we expect members to respect that.

It's a rule designed to be simple and unambiguous to understand and adhere to, so there are no excuses for abusing it.

How will penalties for track limits be handled during qualifing? Ignoring track limits there can have a big impact on the outcome of the race, so for example a 10 second penalty post race wouldn't do it justice imo.

  12. I’m a little unsure why there is so much debate over this. The rules pertaining to track limits are clearly explained in the forums. These are the requirements of this series. Participating in the races commits you to these requirements by default. If anyone feels they don’t like the rules, they have the choice not to enter.

In case that was aimed at me; I'm not debating the rules, just asking for clarification. Since abusing track limits can find you multiple seconds on this track and people were still doing this in practice on the server just now, I'm wondering how this is dealt with if people still abuse track limits in qualifying.

Hi Sido and welcome to SRO, it seems an eon ago that we last raced together.
At SRO we do not have set, prescribed penalties for specific rule infringements. This is purposely so that any penalty can be tailored appropriately to that infringement, whilst also allowing a degree of variation to be applied, dependant on how the infringement is determined to have been committed. Penalties can range from a simple time penalty to exclusion from the race results, at the reviewing Admin/s discretion, based on review of the race replay from all the available viewing perspectives and inputs as may be required from those involved.

Past experience shows that we generally do not have issues with either experienced simracers or long-standing SRO members, who both understand the etiquette and expectations of competing online with an organisation such as ours. All replays from qualifying and the race can be used, and are frequently, to verify that our rules are adhered to respectfully. We usually find that voices are raised when poor track discipline is observed by other members in any session of our competitions.

  15. Not aimed at anyone in particular. But it really isn’t hard to understand……..just keep two wheels within the white lines. That way, penalties don’t become an issue. It all comes down to whether anyone wants to compete fairly or not.
