The track has been updated to v1.12 so if you already had it in your AC client, you will need to update it. DL link is on the race page as usual.
Not surprisingly there was quite a bit of contact on lap1 at this tight, twisty and challenging track, but not for the usual reasons you'd expect. From the replay it looks like it all started after Csaba had a tiny freeze going up the hill after T2. This lagged him backwards into me, causing Jari and Marek to hit me from behind. Csaba then had another odd glitch which threw his car left into Phil, spinning him around broadside across the track, leaving no room for Jari, Paul or me to avoid him. No blame can be attached to anyone for any of this, but it was a big shame to see Phil go out without completing a single lap. Other than that and my doing a 180 on the entry to the final straight (sorry guys, it took me ages to reverse to a wider part of the track to be able to turn around), it was a fun race.
There was always the possibility of contact on such a narrow circuit and it was on my mind in quali after I lost it into the last chicane and hit the tyres! Not something I’d done on my previous countless laps of the circuit. My final grid position was snatched on my last qualifying lap and was grateful for second place. A good start saw me at the front of the pack into turn 1 and then it was time to settle in, get the tyres up to temperature, concentrate on consistent laps and try to build a gap. A real shame Paul going out on lap 1, but I have noticed in past races (and in quali in this one) that Csaba’s car regularly experiences lags and “hops” around on the track, quite disturbing when you’re close to him and it happens. A good race overall, and my thanks to the guys (don’t know who they were) that acknowledged me behind them in the latter stages of the race and made room for a safe pass
Was fun race for me indeed, track and car combo was very demanding but very fun also.. A day before the event, i took a day off of my job to get some rest because of a high blood pressure. Simracing is helping me a lot to relax and keep out of my mind many stupid things about my job and real life issues, so the best thing i could do, was to register and race.. Unfortunately race time is not suiting me ( i am getting home at 21:20 Greece time every night) so i cant take part at whole series.. Anyways i tried a lot to keep the car on track with almost zero practice, tried to do a proper setup ( for some reason i felt the car very light at the back end) and generally was a good race for me until the time my phone ringed, distracted me and crashed on the wall... Chris, i am one of the guys the let you by, i was one lap behind, i had to let you pass as i also let Ken to pass me, at that time was much faster than me. Congrats to winner, podium finishers and to all guys that took part of the race. Take care all and see you next time guys
@Vasilis Doumanas, many thanks for the awareness I see you’re entered in the ACC BMW M2 challenge, what a hoot they are to drive! I’ll be joining that series from race 2 onward so will see you there. We need more entrants for that series, always better with a bigger field, I’d really encourage you guys from this series to take a look at it, clean, committed racers is exactly what that series needs, please support it if you can!
