    Track info
The origins of the event date back to the Formula One Detroit Grand Prix on the Detroit street circuit. The CART series began headlining the event in 1989, and in 1992, the race moved from downtown Detroit to Belle Isle, a park situated on an island in the Detroit River, which is the longest serving venue of the race. The IndyCar Series took over the race beginning in 2007. The race has been supported by Indy Lights and Formula Atlantic and top-level sports car series such as the Trans-Am Series and the ALMS. For 2023 the race will return to the downtown streets around the Renaissance Center using a circuit partially based on the original Detroit street circuit used by Formula One and CART.

Track will punish you if you go to hard, the walls are waiting. But to get lap time, you have to balance the risk! For the race, I will for sure go careful, main worry is getting caught up in an accident

I tried the BMW to give me sense of what other cars feel like, I did a 1.29.6 in an old set up! The cars are the closest they have been for BOP I think, which means its all about getting best set up, and driving carefully for 190 minutes. One ,
One more thing, don't do a Grosjean on the Warm Up lap

I still can't believe I raced in an ILMS based series here in a Peugeot 908TDI in GTR2 many years ago. LMP1, LMP2 and GTE all on the same track. Now that was some crazy shit!

This track has a lot of history. Today it is an annual race track for the Indy cars.

It will be great fun driving here. The track is very exciting because the corners invite you to look for the limit.
The race will be a test of skill and patience. You want to go fast, but you also want to stay out of the walls. And you can't risk it all every lap. You have to be smart and stay cool.
The guys with the best result will be the guys with the least amount of time spent in the pits. And I will advise everyone not to give up after damage, because a lot of guys will be in for repairs, except the ones who play the long game and drive smart.

    Drivers briefing

    1. This event will be broadcasted
    Broadcast team: EithaRacingTeam
    Broadcasters: Nassim, Lorenzo & Sameer
Twitch broadcast link: https://www . twitch . tv / eitharacing (delete the spaces)

    2. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    3. Belle Isle Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course)
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel and Tires are set to normal.
    3) The race will 100% dry.
    4) Cut Track points are set to 7
    5) This race has 100% damage
    6) Pole Points: 1 / Fast Lap Points: 1

    4. Formation lap and rolling start.
Right after leaving the last corner, we double file in qual order. When the pole-sitter crosses the start line, the race begins.

    5. The pole-sitter will do the formation lap approx. 120 km per hour.

    6. The server password will be changed on race day. You can find the password for the race server on the Detroit Belle Isle event page.

    7. If you have to do a drive-through penalty, you have to do it
at the end of the first racing lap.
That means the first racing lap AFTER the formation lap.

    8. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    9. No-shows (keeping the entry list real)

If a driver does not show without unregistering for that event or letting us know that he can't make it on the event forum, he will be removed from the series.
If he is no longer interested in the series, it's fine like it is.
If he forgot about the event, he can sign up for the series again.

(You don't have to unregister for the whole series. You can unregister only for the event you can't do.)

    10. You can find the server by first typing sro

    11. Please use the same name in the rFactor 2 game as on our signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

    12. Last but not least ... SIMRACINGONLINE wishes you a great race!

Watched the broadcast replay and heard one of them say something about a mandatory tire change. Is this true? If so were did it say this? I didn't see this mentioned anywhere. I must admit I didn't change tires. Made only one stop for some fuel. Probably not the correct strategy anyway. Didn't have the pace at the end on old hards to put up any real fight. Gongrats to Johnny, amazing pace.

Congrats to all drivers, podiums and finishers. It was a tough track but it was fun. Kudos to all for staying in the game.
Wanted to give a shout out to my teammate Barrett on the paint job he painted for my car. Nice! Thank you!

Qualifying went good. I was .002 off podium. But Matteo was disconnected so that was a bummer. The racing would have been fun.

The race went better than expected. About halfway through the race, my right rear touched the wall slightly. Nothing too hard but it punctured my tire. That was odd. I was going to double stint the tires but instead just replaced all four and fixed the right rear damage. Caught back up with Matt. He's a good driver. Eventually I got past him. I've noticed in this race and others, he always remains hidden and waits for the ambush on someone. Good racing.

It felt good having so many drivers on the track. Just imagine having 5 to 10 more. More awesome.

Last but not least, the broadcasters. All three do an excellent job. They bring the racing up to a different level.

    Johnny,

You don't have to Matt. I was on the same strategy you were but nipped the right rear tire against the wall. This caused a puncture so I decided to change all four tires.

Great race - Congratulations to all!
The qualification went much better than expected with third place! After the start, which was really fair and clean of everyone, I unfortunately had to serve my drive-through penalty. From last place, however, it went with beautiful duels quickly back to 5th place. Until half-time I even managed to take the lead for a short time thanks to my 1 stop strategy.
After the stop I was in third place and I was able to bring this place to the finish despite two small wall contacts.
    The race was definitely fun.
I would also like to say thank you to everyone for respecting the Blue Flags - really cool racing!

Congrats John. I have some problems with the PC, sometimes it freezes, I still don't understand where the problem is because it happens randomly, sometimes I play for hours without any problem, other times it crashes. Yesterday after restarting the PC RF2 would not start anymore, all the .json files were empty. I had to reinstall RF2. It is the first time that the .json files have been emptied.
I hope to resolve, but I am not very optimistic

A really last minute change from Aston to Porsche; it went slow (some 2 secs slower) but stable until the tires started to cause problems. Sorry if I ruined anyone's race due to the problems I experienced. From 11th to 6th then back to 11., then back again to 7th but then back to 11th due to crushes.

I know it's your first race, but just a formal reminder, just in case you didn't know ...
Once you used a car for your first event, you can't change to another car (car make Porsche, Ferrari ect) during the series.

Yep, that's why I changed it to Porsche for the first race. But it caused some "natural" complications lol.
