Good race guys. But I have to say it was pretty frustrating watching you guys taking the shortcuts while I was trying to keep up with you driving between the lines.
The race replay is available via the link on the race results page https://simracingonline.co.uk/racing/eventinfo/1990
Wish I could have been there for round one but realized we company coming over 30min before race start.
Good first race. Start was a little messy, but somehow I gained one position. First couple of laps was very "crowded". In the end, I had a great fight with @Ken Jagger and all race long. I was a little tired, unfortunately I made some wrong decisions, sorry @Kostas Kantzouras. Now I'm going to start practicing for the next one. See you on Red Bull Ring
I am really proud of myself for this race. I was nowhere near the fastest car out there and qualifying down in 10th. I made a good start immediately turned left to get around the slow starting car ahead and made up quite a few positions. Settled in quite quickly and survived the early pressure from @Ken Jagger in the first half of the race. I think I broke the tow and Ken was getting harrassed by the cars behind so I broke away. It became a little lonely until the car ahead had an incident and came back towards me. I put on the pressure and I was really quick down the back straight but there was just nowhere to use the speed. Lap after lap I applied the pressure until I was able to get fully alongside into the last right-hander of the lap. I managed to pull away and kept an eye on the front right that I had abused a little. 2nd and 3rd came together ahead and I passed them for a well earned (in my opinion) 2nd place!! Stream VOD (sound is glitched in my cockpit cam, something about hitting maximum audio buffering)
I watched the replay. Looked like quite the interesting race. A few advantageous bumps here and there but mostly a good race. The one thing that was very obvious is that it seemed like the white lines did not mean much. Some of the cutting was crazy. There is something about that track that tempts you to do it. There were a couple of guys, and you know who you are, that cut the same corners almost every lap so it was a deliberate line that was chosen. The cuts were very advantageous because in the first few laps, you could see the gaps close after the corners until the passes were made. I think a few adventures outside the track limits is fine but when it is the majority of the laps it is probably worth a review. Overall a very entertaining race to watch. It even made me more sorry that I had to miss it. Will try to participate in the rest of the series though.
Following the protest review, three members have been issued with 90 day warnings on their driver records for multiple but avoidable off-course excursions. All members should adhere to SRO Rules & Regulations and not ignore them in a cavalier fashion, thinking there will not be any consequences. On this occasion it has not affected the race results and they are therefore final as already published.
I tried using a custom paint scheme (put it in my userdata folder), it displayed for me when I played. I downloaded the server replay but the paint scheme didn't show. Was my paint scheme bright green? Or the Falken blue/green one I chose in the race?
Query was because on the server replay it didn't show. Just wanted to be in something different so we weren't all in similar paint jobs
