I have been using the Broadcast overlays for streams for quite a while and I have recently been dabbling with the vehicle_info_override.json that comes with the files.

This has some advantages but also some limitations.

The advantages are that it doesn't matter what a player drives, we can replace driver name, number, team name and car icon.
The limitation is we can only replace these details if drivers either use the original cars or custom skin (not custom car folder).

What is the difference between a "custom skin" and a "custom car folder"?

A "custom skin" is a mas file/skin put into an original car folder in the player/settings/<car folder>/

A "custom skin folder" is when you create a new driver and it makes it's own folder and an *.rcd file.

So the custom_vehicle_override.json entries i provided in the zip file didn't work for you as they worked for me? Bear in mind that i remember we were having problems getting Johnny and Ed into the team cars last time, and i've reconstructed mine, so the override settings in my file may not have a referenced car folder on your system (i.e. Barrett Erickson, Ed Jones, Johnny Gutierrez, etc) and therefore not be overriding anything on your end yet.

What my testing revealed was that the "VEH_NAME_01" the json was looking for was actually the same as the name of the vehicle folder in the userdata>player>settings>Porsche_992_GT3_Cup_2022 where the custom skins are placed (e.g.: 25_ALTRADCLIFFE) and the Team Name that needed to be over-ridden (i noticed on Rob's streamcast) was actually "Team Porsche" for all cars. That's how i actually got the changes to the override working for me. But again, i've not tried to use this stuff in real time, and i didn't try to figure out how to do that, just called up the timing overlay to see what happened with each tweak. Am i missing something?

The team cars create a folder in the same place as the custom skins, but name it according to the .rcd info (e.g.: Barrett Erickson; Ed Jones; Johnny Gutierrez, NICK WESTY). When i used that in the override file for the vehicle name, the overlay displayed the cars properly. A copy/paste to your override file won't work? Bear in mind that i remember we were having problems getting Johnny and Ed into the team cars last time so the override settings in my file may not have a reference car file (i.e. Barrett Erickson, etc) and therefore not be overriding anything on your end yet.

Unsure... I am was just going with what I have been testing. I can't override teams that I don't know exist until the race. I can't be editing files up until qually when I am supposed to be practicing anyway, plus I can only test this in realtime.
